I've heard that cooking is an art, but baking is a science. The measurements are to be very precise to work out as they're meant to... and some are highly variable. You know that flour can be packed loose or dense, I'm sure, and that's just the beginning of it.

[He shrugs.]

I like it when someone bakes for me, but the ingredients are better not wasted when either of us take a crack at it, sounds like.
