[ falco watches and only listens, briefly, before his body jolts into a curt hunch over his notebook. i need to write that down is the blatant thought and energy here, pen working to solidify the answer and serve as a study tip for later. ]

Pulmonary . . . Circulation— [ okay, plenty of equal signs and underlining here, differentiating pulmonary arteries and veins, ] And the heart's would be . . . Coronery.

[ he's working his memory for this one, but he tries his absolute best not to make it a question in turn. that's his answer. ]

You don't need to use the scientific wording for every single thing. Your patients wont know what they are, after all. [then he pauses, and amends:]

Peers among medical fields will mind, yes, but there are few and far between here, and your focus is on patients, not them.

[seriously, who cares about stuffy academics who insist on using "proper" terms for everything.]

[ Sasuke ties off the bandage using his teeth to help tug it tight. There's almost a faint smile at the bark, like he gets the thankfulness from her as well. Even if she was clearly somehow supernatural or divine (no normal wolf fights like that and her chakra presence is gigantic), Sasuke's simply always had an easier time feeling comfortable around animals than he ever has around people. ]

Uchiha Sasuke.

[ He pulls himself up onto his feet as he introduces himself and goes to give her the smallest of bows. He'll... figure out her name somehow. Maybe. Eventually. ]

That's true . . . [ that his focus here in trench was something else; it was treating, immediately. he had way too much of a journey to walk and mature into something more professional, but he still considers it. he still wants to be corrected. ] I'll still look to saying things correctly, though. If I go home one day and this is what I want to do there, too— It's going to be important.

[ when you smell like sasuke uchiha, it's difficult not to find him! for good measure, the wolf pads closer to brush her snout against his pants legs, giving them a good, constant sniffsniffsniff to brand it into her memory.

you shall be, young man.

she regards him a moment more before being on her way. over sasuke's head falls the blossom of a wildflower, pink and lively. no trees seem to be in sight, but its energy has a familiar source, if he were to track anything. it's from the wolf, an extra thanks, or perhaps an agreement. ]

Military personnel don't care much for the longer explanations, despite demanding to know what exactly you're doing to them in the moment. Don't neglect the common terminology in your pursuit to learn.

[then he writes cleanly, properly, even if his scratching is light enough that his lettering is merely a collection of thin lines on paper. he's working on a close diagram of the heart, given falco is working on that too.]

Many people will feel at ease as well, but children are easier to placate than adults. Better patients, at that.

[ one that comes quickly to mind is a fallen soldier falco had taken in to aid. most would have left the enemy to rot, as some had huffed at him for, but falco hid behind international law during war to mask his altruism. legally, he's our prisoner was a misty cover for i want to save him. falco's heart quietly shattered that day, when the unconscious man began to come to and preferred death over letting his hands stop the bleeding— the years of trauma across generations done to each other was something that had always saddened him. the words still stick: don't touch me. you'll corrupt me. devil.

it encourages him to continue giving his best to anyone, everyone— as what he'd always wanted for himself. ]

Some of them are more . . . inflexible. But I've seen children be the same way, too. [ gabi was a snarling, rabid beast when an enemy approached, no matter how concerned they were for her. noticing nehan's writing, falco pauses his own to observe and pay attention to what it was. ] I like to think it's a little different, here.

[tempredmental]

[Keith yelped, jumping back and barely missing getting slammed by that tail. He pulls out his blade immediately, the dagger shifting into a sword, and he moved to attack, dodging to one side to hopefully flank the creature, and staying low, going for the belly.]

[torpour]

[nehan snorts.]

Nothing is more irritating than an adult who is so convinced of their independence that they must show it to everyone-- unless it's a teenager convinced that they can do anything.

[children are better.]

That is always the case with the military sorts. I suggest you don't forget that.

[ among other lessons, including the act of keeping his humbleness intact on his pursuit for new knowledge. there's something, suddenly, at the tip of his tongue that he must throw out there: ]

Mister Nehan, [ he watches the man, then bows his head. briefly, but respectfully: ] —Thank you, for having me.

[ perhaps he didn't have to thank him— the warming in his chest simply came, then the words followed suit. it's the kind of thing he felt like he had to say. ]

[nehan's nose wrinkles slightly at the thanks. he dislikes such mushy feelings, doesn't want to waste time on dealing with them either.]

Don't mention it. Truly, do not-- if you have time to profusely thank me, you have time to put your nose into a book.

[brushy]

[ it may be a good idea to evade; despite the plant parts that create the bud ogre, it is a toughened demon with a core that is hidden away— as all weak spots are kept. the lower flank of the creature could take hits, plenty that if built up enough, could lead to paralyzation. with an objecting howl, the ogre exposes the plant bud growing on its back like a shield, and from it, it pops out a nasty, toxic bomb of rot.

dodging may be the best choice. touching it will cause it to burst and cause more problems, and that would make an easy target for the ogre's swipes. ]

[tempredmental]

[Yeah, that didn't look good... whatever that... that was. Keith barely dodged, having to change his trajectory and momentum almost mid-stride to avoid it. He was lucky... but would that luck hold out?

Honestly, he had to find a way to take it down. If he played dodge-the-strike all day, he'd eventually tire himself out, and he wasn't sure if he could outlast the creature in a situation like that.]

[brushy]

[ it seems to have stopped in its tracks, if not momentarily, to recharge itself after throwing that bad egg out of itself. the color changes, it becomes dull and a little lifeless—

something has caused the bud on its back to bloom open, exposing the core, as it lays where it once stood and falls. the core is a sitting duck, and nearby— there seems to be another growling predator. ]

[tempredmental]

[Keith stared for a second at the core, something in the back of his mind giving him the instinct to go for it. Focusing on the first predator that was currently down and possibly defeatable (he'd worry about that growl in a second), he charged in and slashed at the core with his sword, spinning quickly to move away from the spiked tail and trying to spot where that growl had come from.]

[brushy]

[ the ogre takes a devastating blow, and once conscious enough quickly shuts its bud from any more attack. furious, it stands on its hind legs and strikes with its foreclaws in a sideways gash— that doesn't hit. instead, the ogre's hard wooden limb is thrust back and lacerated.

amaterasu uses the swift, cutting stroke of power slash to cut off the ogre's attempt at this clawed swat. keith now has a back-up mother— a wolf, fur white as snow and with her hackles raise, her gums showing, and her fangs a caution of the danger set upon the boy. ]

[tempredmental]

[Keith brought his blade up, ready to block the incoming hit, but he felt something else instead, the woosh of something moving past him with speed. He saw her now, the wolf in question. He'd almost laugh if the situation wasn't more serious. Was this some sort of karma? He saved a wolf back home, so a wolf was now saving him here?

Interesting coincidence... but he wasn't about to look a gift "wolf" in the mouth, so to speak. He'd take the help however it came.]
