[Luz could see the pain and fear in her eyes, and couldn't help but reach over and gave the corrupted animal a hug.

It wasn't smart. It was super dangerous. It could cut up her back and possibly bite her while she was making herself so exposed, but Luz didn't care. She didn't want a corrupted person suffering alone while she was pretending things were fine. They weren't and she knew it.
