Secret Hideout
Who: Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, Shouto Todoroki, Ochako Uraraka, Katsuki "Kacchan" Bakugou, and trusted helpers. Plot with me at
misosoupaddict, OOC contact, or track me down in a discord server. Latecomers welcome, this log is probably running all month.
What: Setting up a secret training area
When: throughout May
Where: an abandoned warehouse
Content Warnings: teens in danger while testing booby traps probably
Midoriya has staked out a brick warehouse the size of a school gym. Salt air has corroded the paint, and its broken windows are boarded up. It has a basement with at least one underground lift, once used to move goods in and out of the facility. It smells, none too badly, of dry weeds and a few harmless fungi. Midoriya is undecided on whether to leave the outside in its dilapidated, overgrown state as a disguise, or attempt to clean and make the whole thing invisible to prying eyes. That's outside of his area of expertise.
Midoriya has been wanting a private space to train since winter when the weather made that activity inefficient outdoors. Since the arrival of old enemies from his world, Midoriya thought it might also be good to have a place to lie low. (Are his old enemies still out to get him? He doesn't truly know.) Regardless, this place will be well-stocked for a natural (or unnatural) disaster too. Construction will take a while. Those who are bartering their services will see slow but consistent payment.
Needless to say, this should all be kept secret. Participation is modular: No single helper will know everything about this location. Controlling information is something Midoriya observed from his homeroom teacher back home. Midoriya isn't good at this sort of thing, so he'll take any tips he can get.
Since lunch is provided by athletic heroes, it runs fairly healthy and protein-rich: rice dishes, stews, sandwiches, fruits and vegetables, dry snacks, all arranged near a cooler and a camp stove. Warmbloods like Midoriya are particularly snacky... Midoriya keeps notes in a personal notebook on who's doing what, but collaboration or switching between teams is inevitable. At the moment, it's tentative and incomplete, as they've only just started working on all this:
Amenities
Soundproof (against explosions...)
Fire sprinklers
Fire resistance
Sparring gym big enough for our aerial training
Heating/cooling
Bedrooms
Bathrooms
Temperature room for Quirk training (It's also a sauna)
Water cooler
Emergency survival stockpile

Questions
Summary/Plotting/Handwave
Ruby Rose | RWBY | OTA
She's brought a crates worth of supplies and set up a more mobile sort of a workshop to help get things running around here. When it comes to traps she's kept Deku's idea of remaining more non lethal in mind. She's put together small turrets or things that resemble miniture land mines but their loaded with a special mix of her own cold blood. They'll either freeze targets with ice or stun them with a minor surge of electricity.
Whether she's working on that or repairing the variety of gear or weapons that someone might have around she's here working up a storm.]
Izuku "Deku" Midoriya
"Can't believe I found one... This is called a Floater. They're out of season now, and they only come out at night."
He turns off most of the lights and uncovers a tank, such as one used to keep lizards. Inside, a fantastical lifeform floats lazily, looking more like a jellyfish than a mushroom. He consults a notebook with his own crude drawings of mushrooms in it. (Where did he pull that notebook from?)
"They paralyze. If you have to handle them directly, the safest way is by their caps. I don't want to use a live one, they're easy enough to dodge or exterminate, but if someone could enhance part of a trap with its paralysis, that could be a way to take down an intruder without hurting them."
He continues to ramble out of habit like the nerd he is, "Of course, that means one of us checking on this place more often, like every day. Can't have an intruder just lying there indefinitely, but, well, if we train often here, that shouldn't be a problem, kind of like housekeeping..."
Ouchie Ouch
Midoriya sprawls in a folding chair off to the side with the sleeve of his T-shirt rolled up. He presses an ice pack to his shoulder. He's been testing the physical traps. All it takes is one metal barrier sliding shut too close at hand...
"Well... I expected this..." he groans good-naturedly. To his credit, the amount of scars he has were obtained from a few incidents, not several. It's good to take a break; he was getting hungry. Again.
Wildcard
ooc: I'm stuck in prose format forever, but you can respond with whatever!

"I think having someone pass by once a day might be the best way to go about it anyways. Probably not the same person to keep what you're using this for from being too obvious. But you're right- It's probably one of the best gym's your going to get in trench with how you've got it equipped." She taps her pencil against the pad of paper.
"We could probably work them into something like nets that get launched out. I'll make it easier to handle the person until we get them out of here after."
guess who's finally here?? (ouchie ouch)
He's not a Pro-Hero anymore, or a teacher. Instead, he has to become something new.
Shouta considers himself a rational man. And rationally speaking, maybe he should've found a home, or at least some supplies, before showing up here... he recognizes that, but even so, he found himself showing up anyway. Was it the need to make sure that Midoriya's okay that drove him to come? He's not even sure himself, but he has to admit- he's proud of the kid for coming up with all this. He's proud of all of them, really.
As he spots Midoriya, he almost scoffs. Of course the first thing he'd see him doing would be treating some kind of injury... it's a shame that Recovery Girl isn't here to help out.
"It's been a while, problem child." he calls out, raising a hand in greeting. "I see you've been busy without me.
shouto todoroki | my hero academia
Blood Type: Paleblood.
Connections: Friends with Deku, Bakugou, and Ochako. He's helping because he was asked to and needs no other reason. Once there, he'll be easily persuaded to help wherever he's needed. Open to any CR.
Contributions: Mostly, he'll bring in materials from his patrols as a Hunter. He's your token 'helper'. Set him to a task and he'll get it done. Need help with a larger project you're thinking of doing, feel free to grab him and put him to work!
Other: His omen is usually inside him, invisible to others, it'll just usually be him. Though, you might find him seemingly talking to himself. Don't worry, he's just talking with his omen who totally doesn't listen to him.
Oh! I'll likely tag into prompts than put up a top level. I'll be MIA this weekend for the holiday, so I won't be tagging in until next week! Please let me know if you'd like CR with one of your characters, otherwise, I'll just poke at prompts that seem the easiest to jump into!
so uncool sensei geez (no, he's very cool)
Without most of the people around him in this new world, he tried to fill the holes by either emulating someone or thinking of what they might do. He thought of Aizawa anytime he needed to remember his training with Blackwhip, call upon lessons on pragmatism and rationality, or keep a low profile. The last didn't become a large concern until after Midoriya learned some old enemies were in town.
"Sensei. Still can't believe it's really you."
Not the usual pep Aizawa will remember, and it has nothing to do with getting cuffed by his own booby trap today. His amount of scars, from what can be seen on his arms, have doubled. They're starting to look like a roadmap. In the same permanent way, his face has acquired a baseline seriousness.
"Can I get you anything?"
Like everyone invited here, Aizawa is expected, and there is food and drink. Midoriya rises out of his chair despite being hurt. It'll hurt more tomorrow anyway. He missed his teacher. The polite young man with good grades who always answers when called on knows he's a problem child. He supposes he's got the worst rap sheet in Class 1-A, nevermind that all his transgressions resulted in harm to himself.

Shouta notices the difference in his student compared to what he's used to, and he was expecting it, after seeing Todoroki, Uraraka and Bakugou already... but it's still a strange feeling to look over him and notice it all. Midoriya's expression... it's less like that of a kid's, and more like that of a Pro's - hardened by trauma and the weight of his experiences.
"I see you're still no better at taking care of yourself." Shouta adds, gesturing to Midoriya's wounds with an unimpressed look - trying to ignore the worry he feels welling up inside him when he sees them. Just what's happened to this kid, here? All Shouta can hope is that he himself won't be dead weight; being the new arrival with nothing to his name and all, and that he'll actually be able to help Midoriya and the rest of his students. He needs to adjust as quickly as possible.
"I'm fine. Sorry I didn't bring anything to help out." he responds, feeling just a little bad. He hasn't really had the time to find a home or to get anything that could help yet, but it's high on his list of priorities. "...But it looks like you've been pretty busy here. What do you need help with?"
no subject
But right now? She's stopped to have a break, and thought Ruby ought to do the same.]
Ne, it looked like you could use a pick-me-up, ehehe.
paul atreides | dune
Blood Type: Paleblood
Connections: Paul is a good friend of Deku's and will be assisting Uraraka with trap constructing. He is also providing Paleblood illusory rune painting, largely as a solo project but with room for collaboration from other magic users.
Contributions:
Traps: The traps Paul creates are based on the principles of 1. deterring intruders and 2. if that fails, funneling them away from critical areas and towards chokepoints. He is keeping the traps as non-lethal as possible by request. Traps include sedative and/or hallucinogen tipped pneumatic darts, self-bolting doors, and one blue goo trap.
Runes: These runes are difficult to look at not because they're painful or unsettling, but because they're so mundane. They don't provide perfect concealment of the hideout, but they provide an additional layer of obfuscation by projecting a field of 'there's nothing here worth seeing'.
Other: Paul's idea of 'non-lethal' is anything short of decapitation, so his ideas for traps can be a little intense. If there's anything you'd like to handwave Paul and your character doing, hit me up and we can plot it out!
Oscar Pine | RWBY | OTA
[Oscar Pine wasn't a hero. He wasn't even a huntsman like the rest of his compatriots from Remnant-- he was a simple farmlad, with practical skills in construction and mechanics that he honed by practice, reading tech manuals, and systematically straightening every squeaky door in every single house he lived in. As much as he appreciated the efforts of people like Midoriya and Ruby Rose, he knew that affairs like this would need something a touch more... pragmatic.
Anyone coming through would spot him with a tape measure, a level, and sundry other assorted drafting tools while he quickly sketched up a rough blueprint of what they needed. This was a rush job, but that didn't mean they didn't have the time to do things right. A poorly supported wall could spell disaster even for a bunch of Heroes!]
Kitchen... because of course he had found the kitchen.
If this is going to be a long term set up, we really need more than just a firepit here.
[Oscar frowned at the simple camping set up. While he appreciated the utility of it and regularly carried around a camp stove in his bottomless bag, as well as a supply of easy kindling, it was meant more for use on the fly rather than a permanent set up.]
We're gonna need to build something like an outdoor stove or grill. It doesn't need to be anything big, but it's gotta be sturdier than this if something happens and we need to convert some of this into something like a safehouse.
[He was already thinking of disasters-- like the sorts he had encountered in Deerington, where the whole of the town was blocked from access and the only safe haven they had was in their own homes.]
Water's important too. How deep do you think we should get into distillation?
Ouchie Ouch
Although, as soon as she asked, she fully expected him to say no.
"Is... whatever this is successful?"
no subject
That and she was here with a job to do and scooping out people's skills would have to come second. She's pretty focused on what's she's doing Ochako approaches her and she gives her head a little shake before looking up to the other girl.]
Honestly? That sounds like a great idea right about now.
[She clears up the table she's working at and offers Ochako a seat.]
You're going to have some killer muscles with how much you've been lifting.
the idea was too stupid not to use
"Nothing that will reveal our location, remember. I don't want smoke or noise to give us away. But yeah. It might have started as a secret training space, but it could be that its most important use ends up as a safehouse. Clean water's the most important thing in that case. I want this place functional as soon as possible, so if there's a way to get something in place now and add to it later, I'm all for it."
He seems to be ill at ease in his chair--or rather, he's vibrating slightly. He's... he's doing the chair sit. In his chair. He's supporting himself mostly without the chair's help in an effort to exercise while he's occupied with something else. Never an idle moment with Midoriya...
no subject
He gently jolts out of his reverie. He was getting a little carried away and forgot he was actually muttering to a person instead of just his notebook: his friend, pal, amigo, sniper rifle aficionado, Ruby Rose.
"Rotating duties, or maybe we even randomize them, got it. And nets with a tighter weave, so there's no risk of strangulation," he says more clearly. "I should make a note that these mushrooms are a finite resource, and hard to find..."
no subject
"Midoriya Izuku. Hero name: Deku. Sorry, I didn't catch that... Did you say healing?"
Definitely in need of food too; he's less alert than he should be.
oh my god
Oscar pursed his lips in thought, already going through and noting down some of the strategies he had been using to help with Ruby and Mako's safehouse and cache system. He had been systematically pickling and canning a variety of goods and packing up supplies for portable stoves for each location, with instructions on how to use them. If someone had coldblood or a different methods of heating materials up, they wouldn't even need a stove
"I'll just treat this like the caches for now," he commented, checking off a few items and scratching out others. "We'll need a sizeable dry goods pantry, though. We can also set up rainwater barrels to start-- we can distill it as we go until we can get more of an idea of what we need..."
Homesteading was familiar to him. All of what he was discussing were matters he learned on the farm, for survival as a community without relying on the aid of the nearby cities. In cases of disaster, inclement weather, or situations where the Grimm cut off access, being able to not only survive but thrive was important.
Trailing, he looked up-- and frowned at the sight of Midoriya vibrating.
"Are you okay? Do you need a break?"
no subject
Like a nerd. It's so old-fashioned. He slumps, slightly embarrassed. Forgoing that, he decides to eat while he's multitasking and got his blood flowing. He grabs a bag of trail mix he'd packed for himself. He's been hungry all month, and by now he's learned to always keep food on hand if he was going to get anything done.
"Dried mushrooms keep really well." Yeah, definitely hungry if he's salivating at the mere thought of hard nubby dried goods yet to be rehydrated. "I mean--they also work as anti-Corruption measures. Weepers, tea, herbs, things like that."
no subject
He consigns his ice pack to the cooler again, checking his Omni for the time so he can start icing again in an hour. He doesn't feel right not at least offering his teacher tea. He pours green tea from a thermos into a metal camping cup for him.
"Don't worry about it, Sensei. You just got here. Please stay as long as you need to." It feels weird, offering faculty from UA a place to stay instead of the other way around.
"Since I came to Trench last year, there were a lot of times I wished I could ask you for advice about all kinds of stuff. Like, I can't train it today, but I hope--" He frowns suddenly. "What's the last thing you remember from home? For me, we were at the end of spring break. All of us were almost second-years."
It... doesn't end well, Todoroki said of that March battle, as he sat on a couch across from Midoriya covered in wounds in a different March in Trench. Midoriya says nothing of this.
no subject
"You were... exercising. While we're working. Uh-huh."
He had thoughts on the matter, but he was wisely keeping them to himself. Some people you just couldn't argue with-- like Ruby and her insistence that Crescent Rose was the perfect tool for chopping up the bananas and walnuts to go into a freshly made loaf of banana bread.
"That's a good idea. We can keep items that help with corruption in stock. And if we can figure out how to dehydrate entire meals like soup or pasta sauce, we can actually store a lot more supplies in here if you're planning on a lot of people."
Dehydrating would just require access to a contained environment and possibly a skilled coldblood. He had never tried dehydrating anything without the resources on the family farm before.
no subject
"I'll see about where to get some drying apparatus and storage. Ate at a restaurant once, and the chef was talking about it. Said that was how they always have certain things out of season." He's not overly social, but Midoriya appears approachable enough that people just come up to talk to him.
"Back to water, you might want to talk to Becket-san. He's got a farm and ways to collect and conserve water for all that. I wasn't planning on this being a place a lot of people come to, but in an emergency, I may need to make it available to as many people as we can take."
no subject
He had meant to respond, but the ongoing dramas in his life combined with his odd sleep patterns had conspired to put him off long enough that it felt strange approaching a stranger. He would rather try to make contact with Shiro, the guy helping out at the orphanage, again.
"I'll need to look him up. I've been meaning to head out that way and see what it's all about."
Even if the season had been bad and he wasn't sure how much use the farmers could get out of a farmhand who had a prosthetic leg and was still in the process of growing, the intellectual part of him still wanted to check it out.
"We'll collaborate on the dehydrator. Remnant's got them, but my Aunt never had one in her kitchen. We grew the grain that got shipped out to Haven to be milled and baked into bread, and the produce that got sold at the markets close to our town. It just wasn't needed."
no subject
"A pleasure to meet you, Midoriya-san, or Deku, rather. I am Eternal Sailor Moon, and yes, I did say healing. If you would like, of course?"
no subject
"I go by Deku at work. Yes please. That's very kind of you. Is that what Uraraka-san invited you here for?"
Now the guilt is more personal; his friends have been more watchful of him since his Corruption escapade in March.
no subject
"Uravity? No, she did not ask me here for my healing powers. I do not think she observed my healing powers in the jungle," she tapped her lip in thought. "I am not sure how I might be able to assist with this, honestly." She didn't know how to make crystal, completely impenetrable palaces out of crystal... yet.
And she didn't know how to leave a standing barrier either.
"But if you need a healer, then I am happy to help if you do not have one?" most people didn't take her up on her offer to heal them.
"This will only take a moment, Deku," she lifted up her Tiare and held it over him. "Honeymoon Therapy Kiss," she said softly, light washing over Izuku to seep into his body and completely heal the wound and rejuvinate him.
no subject
At the quip to her quirk, Ochako blinks a second before she actually tilts her head back and laughs, holding up her hands and shaking her head.]
Oh, no, no!! You have it all wrong! Ehehe, I know it looks like I'm lifting a lot of weight, but my quirk makes things float. It basically removes the weight of an object by nullifying its gravitational pull. It's um...it's literally called Zero Gravity. My maximum weight capacity I can lift before I get super duper sick is about seven tons...maybe eight?
no subject
His eyes widen. He removes the ice pack. It's no longer needed. "Amazing... Really amazing... You met Urara--Uravity in that jungle then?"
no subject
She allowed her Tiare to disappear.
"She invited me here to assist with this project of yours."
no subject
The last few times he was healed, he was distracted by the circumstances. Here he has the opportunity to really examine it. He experimentally rolls his shoulder, eyebrows lifting and falling. Neat and clean. Effective and impressive.
"No pain, just the memory of it. Do you mind if I ask how it works? There isn't any adverse effect for you, is there? And--you do patrols like we do? To keep the city safe?"
Yes, okay, he's curious, and a hero fan, even while being one himself. He's not got the charisma to intentionally give off that kind of heroic aura, the kind that shows well on TV, so he's a bit starstruck.
no subject
She turned back to look at Izuku and his question on how it worked, trying to decide how much to reveal.
"I sent energy and light into your body to provide it with a boost for healing," she wasn't going to mention her crystal. "And no, it does not adversely affect me," it would take the whole planet's population at this point to wear her out considering her power levels. If she taps into the Lambda power, she can heal the galaxy itself. "I can control light, I can use it to defend, attack, and heal."
It was the most basic of information, not because she didn't trust Izuku, but "my crystal lets me do pretty much any sort of magic I want" while wholly accurate was SUPER vague.
"And yes, I do patrols to keep the city safe, or as best I can. There are two others from my world who are also senshi: Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus."
no subject
She's definitely getting an entry in his hero notebook. He finds his hands unconsciously twitching in the motion of writing in one.
"You're a team then?" he asks avidly. "Like a permanent one? I'm still in training, so I just do temporary team-ups."
no subject
"I have been with them for a long time and will continue to be so we can protect those we care for and our home. The leader of the Senshi is Sailor Venus. And no, before you ask, there is no Sailor Earth, I take that duty."
