*If you have friendly CR with Palamedes please feel free to handwave that he mentioned this happening, also if your character has CR with a Pal Friend (a pal^2) who would invite them along, he's broadly allowing this. It's not a formal affair in the slightest lmaooo

afternoon/evening.

Earlier in the morning on the day of The Fireworks Field Party (tm), Palamedes makes sure to send a quick location ping to anyone who's never been to the Sixth bunker (also tm) before, because it is, indeed, just in a field somewhere in Gaze. The treeline is comfortably distant from the door to said bunker, which is the only real indication anything is out here besides a few "big rocks" that he names, in his message, as landmarks.

As an afterthought, he has set up a little trail of mason jars containing glowing mushrooms to lead the way to The Field, helpfully. The Field is what it sounds like: a dang field, just slightly ominous in the Gaze fashion, although besides the usual somebody's-watching feeling, it's grassy and spacious for kitschy lawn games. Among the things Palamedes has provided (upon recommendation of a shopkeeper, so like, do not perceive his choices, they were made for him) include:

1. Just a load of blankets, big cozy ones dutifully spread out for chilling on, on the ground.

2. Throwing game Crossbones, definitely chosen because of the bones (they are wooden sticks), and just kind of left sitting there waiting because your host does not know how to play physical games.

3. beanbag horseshoes because it rocks

4. Just, like, a specific blanket that has pencils and blank paper sitting on it... This is a free station, no one will question what art happens here.

Harrow has also provided bone chairs for alternate seating, which are precisely what they sound like.

Eventually, the field will also feature a snack table, which is a community effort, and a booze table, which is slightly supervised in the way that your esteemed host(s) will not permit booze and cherry bombs at the same time.

And, because it's an open field in Trench, there is also a table where emergency incense is waiting. Wandering too far from the space immediately around the bunker (which, it's a big space, you'd have to go far) will eventually lead you to blood wards on the ground, on the trunks of a few trees, etc. Don't touch these. Don't be gross.

the fucken fireworks.

It's fireworks. Once it's dark, there are even more glowing mushroom jars and homemade alchemy glowsticks from Waver to be passed around, somehow, and at least some of the little beanbags glow in the dark, ooh!! Viktor has provided cherry bombs to be used with at least a little caution, for god's sake. There are also some slightly larger fireworks in much shorter supply, from a shop, that will be closely guarded until someone with pyrotechnics talent convinces Palamedes they deserve one. Godspeed.

Broadly: this is a fireworks party (tm) for individual wee ones you can throw around on your own, with only a brief smattering of the big ones that light up the whole sky above the field. It's a chill time for cool buds, fire safety is encouraged, so is vibing on the blankets and enjoying a nice evening.

At various times, local dope musician Anna Amarande will be providing some light musical entertainment, for vibes.

-it's locked via numpad and neither of these stickbug nerds are giving out the code but they'll open the door if asked... you don't have to leave the place to go to the bathroom lmf
-it's a bunker. it's one room and a bathroom in the back. it's full of disorganized nerd stuff and an oversized moon orb and pal's mean omen, rocky the cool rat (harpy eagle), who will aggressively flap at anyone with sticky fingers until they leave
-the code is 69420 so if you're super funny like gideon you COULD guess it

[with the many ways one could go and socialize or play at this party, viktor has gone with dragging a chair up from the bunker and sitting off to the side somewhere to observe activities. this is how you attend a party, right, this is the spirit right here.

but no, for all his wallflowering he looks pretty content all things considered, sitting back with a mug pal drew a squid on (it's viktor's squidsona, you can tell because of the moles obviously) and a bag at his side, crutch leaning against the back of the chair. rio is much more social and will actually poke her nose around until the loud fireworking starts, when she'll skitter off.

anyway he'll be handing out cherry bombs from that bag (feel free to handwave getting as many as you want) and even sparklers (same as above) with only vague warnings of 'don't blow anything important up, thanks.' if you're drinking no bombs for you. if you're a teen extra bombs, which is a questionable choice but he figures the point of all this is for the teens to cause some vaguely supervised trouble anyway. also the bombs explode in fun colors and sparkles, sometimes some colored smoke. he's a fucking show off.

other potential happenings include:

- snooping the art station because he's morbidly curious what people might decide to draw here. if he gets bored enough he might be here making a blueprint for something and pretend that's a party activity.

- taking a turn supervising booze and being way too lenient about it because he's an undercity kid at heart and figures most people can handle at least a little liquor while around dangerous materials.

- examining the blood wards because he still thinks they are fascinating and this is clearly a normal party activity.

- actually just enjoying the music with mild swaying so he did it, a single party activity done the right way.

- observing pal seeing fireworks properly for the first time because that's the whole point in his opinion. besides everyone getting a nice break. mostly this though. ]

- trying every activity at least once and attempting to subvert the fact his cyberware makes him very good at some of these things in an unfair kind of way

- in fact he'll be purposely trying to suck to balance out the cyberware issue so feel free to catch him making some ridiculously out of bounds and purposely rubbish throws for crossbones or beanbags

- in fact in fact he might hit somebody in the head with a beanbag that's how out of bounds his throws are going

- snacks are good and he likes eating but he's not an alcohol kinda guy so no booze for this lad

- chilling on the blankets is more likely to happen if other people are already there so pls let him come hang with u on a cosy blanket

- he's a polite sort of fellow so he won't be letting himself into the bunker but he would challenge anybody else trying their luck if they look shifty enough

- once the fireworks start in earnest he'll be enjoying the view in a nostalgic kinda way

⮚ being NOT SAD and artfully piling up at least one of each of the available snacks along each of his legs and the arms of the cool chair Viktor made him with precarious balance. no, really. he actually doesn't seem to be that mopey or moody despite it being his first time actually... doing something social and normal since dying. _{it's compartmentalizing. it's all compartmentalizing}

⮚ being crushingly and unfairly good at all of the lawn games that involve hand-eye coordination or just about any kind of upper body dexterity or strength. is he cheating? somehow it seems like he is, but how.

⮚ being a dazzling lightshow of his own when he takes a whole bunch of the glowing beanbags and begins to juggle them high in the air. think a sad kid stuck in a wheelchair can't still be a class act street performer? think again. feel free to toss him something else to juggle with them, it doesn't matter what or how many. knives? pft, easy. he seems absolutely lit up while doing it.

⮚ attempting to get the timing of lighting the cherry bombs down along with rolling back quickly so as not to explode his face. His omen seems extremely rapt about this as well and just as, if not more fascinated than he is.

⮚ stretched out on one of the blankets on his back later on, more blankets piled on him like an old lady, and holding onto Timcanpy, just watching the larger fireworks display when they're lit. ah... now he looks more like he usually does; like someone both a little enchanted but lost in some more somber thoughts. feel free to join him. he may or may not huff that the blanket was already taken.

he and his omen Timcanpy have the most amazing flower crowns made of pale yellow primroses and nobody can make him bat an eyelash about it. the flowers and his own crown were the sweetest present from a little npc girl on the boardwalk ok

also he may or may not make one for your character and put it on their head. you know, if he wants to be cheeky. this also may or may not lead to drunken giggliness from the event prompt for flowers because of course, his luck. I haven't decided yet lmao

...also he kind of looks like some kind of priest, being stuck in white robes

who are ya (characters): L Lawliet (but everyone knows him as Lazarus Sauveterre)
whatcha doing: Arriving with Shoyo and gradually getting pried out of his shell while looking pretty dang demonic. He'll probably be staying away from the fireworks since he throws off heat and occasionally, fire also. He'll stick by Shoyo pretty closely for the first few parts of the party and they'll both separate and mingle as it goes on (so both will have separate toplevels!) L feels off about being around other people as a general rule and especially after the events of April; association with the Emperor or "his" people feels fraught, so he'll be anxiety-drinking probably a little more than is wise and in a state of low-key fight or flight! Also he looks like SATAN and probably feels some kind of way about that after picking a fight with God. After a few beverages he'll play a game and lose it because he's wobbly. He'll listen to the music. He might try to get into the bunker-I-guess. He might be open to franker conversations than normal after he gets over his initial flightiness and the stigma of looking like Satan.

[An invitation from Palamedes was impossible to refuse, even for an introverted mage who preferred to keep his circles tight and his head low to the ground. The seemingly endless night had finally met with dawn, a dear friend had come ashore with the sunrise, and for the first time in a very long time, Waver Velvet-- also known as Mackenzie-- felt decently happy.

Even the fact that he had woken up the week before with the body of a centaur (and looking like the 30 year old he had professed to be the month before) couldn't quite ruin his mood.

He hadn't arrived alone, and his companion was making rounds at his own leisure when they weren't seen together. For himself, Waver had found the pad of paper on one of the blankets and was busy scrawling out a series of numbers and calculations-- as if he were using his free moment to solve a puzzle... or, perhaps the code to the Bunker. Sure, he could ask either Palamedes for the answer or Iskandar to just break the door down, but that was no fun.

Riddles like this were a good way to understand others.

Savvy individuals who were keen on mischief could even ask him for a little help with the codebreaking. Curiosity, as always, was both his gift and his curse.

Otherwise, he is passing out the glow wands he had spent a portion of last month making to combat the darkness that had descended upon the city. Not that they were useful in anything but large quantities for significant lighting, but they were helpful at odd moments when he had been stuck without a torch or needed to pass one off to someone in need. They were small glass vials that needed to be shaken to catalyze the reaction within to make it glow. Any teen who came by for one was granted any number freely, with one caveat:

Do not drink the contents.

Adults who asked would get a look and have one tossed their way-- or, if they were drinking, dropped into their cup with a wry look.

Although he didn't necessarily accept food, he was more than glad to enjoy a hard drink or two for the first time in quite a while. Centaurs were renowned for their alcohol tolerance, and he didn't expect too many ill effects from it. It would be easier to encourage him to participate in a few games at this point. Gamers just can't resist.

As the afternoon turned to evening, he could be found vibing to the music and reminding teenagers about firework safety. Just because he had blown a few things up when he was nineteen didn't mean he approved of inexperienced kids doing the same! Feel free to go to him with questions about the science of pyrotechnics as well. Although he wasn't a fireworks professional, alchemy had a lot of overlapping knowledge sets with such practical arts.

Overall, he was happier than he was letting on about having a second chance to live out a dream that was otherwise impossible to reach.]

bean a beanbag at this nerd who has spent the last month 1) lying about his identity and 2) currently looks like his usual age but as a centaur. Your guy is pretty close to getting friend treatment from my guy, and a little shenanigans never hurt the process.

— he’s still shedding off his monster parts (cw for too many eyes, tentacles and arms on a dog-thing) at this point but shouldn’t look too gross now that his day is lighting up! he’s got a date that’s still okay with him being gross! they’re holding hands! it’s cute 😭
— that said (like lexi said above me) shōyō will be around L for quite a while during the first half of the mingle before prying off and going to say hello to other friends (or?? make new ones?? he’s very friendly that way)
— he’s a warmblood and suffering this month from the hunger and will probably eat ten times his weight in food and will not stop so soon. stop him.
— he loves games. he’s very competitive. he’ll play any and all games and will get fired up to win!!
— things that are too grotesque or scary or gory (lookin at monster folks) makes shōyō nervous and susceptible to throwing up/having a really upset stomach. for comedic relief in-series, he usually throws up on people, or their shoes, or just in front of them like a nauseous cat trying to tell you something. i’m not above this here either. hmu.
— he gave pal a sports jersey of his children’s volleyball team mascot (aka, the HOT WINGS, the ballin’ torchic) and is making him wear it. yes. and will be bragging hi and lo that pal is the manager now. go check out kos orphanage kids sports team, they’ll love it!!!!

[Wonderful. A party. Kaworu has been to exactly one (1) party and has determined that they are good, he is good at them, and therefore he should encourage people to throw and show up to as many parties as possible.

It all makes sense when you think about it.

Thankfully, he's shed most of his monster traits, just pointed ears and demonic horns remain. The red eyes are completely natural! And first things first, he's focused on one thing:

Fireworks were part of Kaworu's ask to Palamedes and he's pleased to see that it was delivered upon. He gleefully lights all off every kind of smaller firework that he can be given, watching intently as the flame goes up the fuse and everything bursts into dancing lights. His favorite is the sparklers. Using his Darkblood + Angel powers, he manages to capture the glittering flames into the palm of his hand like holding a star. He watches it, dazzled.

Otherwise, he can be seen at the booze table drinking something that looks way too big and too strong for someone his size. But look! Again! He's been to one party! This should be fine. He's very good at drinking and it's fun to drink a lot until suddenly it's not fun at all when everything starts spinning. Okay, maybe he's better at Spice...?

He ends up flopped on the pile of blankets like a little angel burrito boy. Maybe bring him some water or get him to play a game to sober up.]

- He brought more snacks.
- Got hit with event stuff, so he's a treefaun that's more tree than faun.
- Reassuring people about their monster forms because being born like this is normal in his world. Don't sweat it. You look great. Claws on fleek.
- Cherry bombs! He knows explosion safety, but mostly on the receiving end. Normal and fine. Less high octane: sparklers.

- Teaming up with Paul to wrangle Kaworu while contemplating the logistics of having two boyfriends.

[ shoyo hinata isn't exactly subtle about his arrival— he's not much a raging storm coming through, but a ray of sunshine that arrives in bright red shorts and, for the time being, no shirt (or shoes, please give him service) but grinning wide, habitually greeting everyone who either passes by him or makes eye contact with. he comes holding a thin little (tall, lazarus is taller than shoyo) nerd by the hand. the furry remains of this mostly human tangerine are a bit of a scruffy puff mane, a shaggy, curling tail, and long, pointed ears. his feet, fingers— they're all clawed, and he's got four........ arms.

arms that he'll hold up and pump to victoriously play crossbones with anyone who dares. ahhhh, what's this?! how do you play?! can you teach me? wanna play? and once he does learn the rules, all goes to hell. as one will realize, expected from an athlete, shoyo is damn competitive and will challenge absolutely anyone who's either watching for too long or standing within speaking distance.

the same goes for beanbag horseshoes; another tossing game, another reason for shoyo to challenge you to a game of: who can toss the farthest? who can throw the farthest? who can keep it in the air longest??? no cheating!

shoyo wouldn't be shoyo either if he didn't smuggle in one volleyball and invite people to play with him. the more the better, of course, but he's just content serving, setting and spiking across a line of mushroom glowing jars to serve as their court limits in the grass. unless someone has something better use, then by all means—! you can't snap shoyo from his element when things get crazy, with a monstrous vertical jump for a little guy and.....??? four arms to keep balance and receive?? you'll catch him saying: i wish i could have four arms all the time!!

all that playing around really works up this young man's appetite (as if he wasn't already eating mounds of buns in between rounds). this time, shoyo's pit stop at the food table is one to fear! warmbloods suffer from a blackhole stomach this month, and it's not as if right now he's going to ignore how much it's screaming at him to get some chow. at the table, there're plates of food in each of shoyo's four hands, and he just keeps piling it up. want to stop him? he's mostly polite if confronted, but his munchies are real. no booze for this guy, he's as straight of an edge as a ruler. he'll just take water to stay hydrated, please!

there is one thing probably many would pay to see other than the light show tonight, and that is shoyo searching desperately for thee palamedes for something. where is he off to, hm? where is he hiding! once the deed is done, shoyo will happily show off his friend's new bling— no, just the closest thing to a sport's jersey a trench seamstress can make. bright yellow and bearing the symbol of one of the children's teams at kos orphanage, the HOT WINGS. he's quite happy to announce that pal has become their manager, and please support the children at kos orphanage! he looks awesome in that jersey, no?!

at last, the fireworks. while shoyo will spend the bulkiest of the light show cozying up with his date, he'll soon be on the case of others to set off cherrybombs near unsuspecting poor souls and run (never too close, of course, but just enough to scare the shit out of anyone closest to it). that person may be you, and you might have an orange, tan gremlin to chase after. ]

[in a shocking turn of events viktor spends a good chunk of the party with pal, and this is part of said chunk. just a breather from teenage shenanigans and small explosives, probably touching base on yes, no one blew a finger off yet, viktor's bafflement over beanbag horseshoes. etc.

he's sipping his actually not tequila when he notices what he can only describe as a four armed ruckus, more so a ruckus in search of palamedes for whatever reason if he caught some passing comment or call right.]

I think someone wants to speak with you. [he points out shoyo beyond pal's shoulder, a raised brow of 'that one of your gaggle of teens, monster edition?']

I laughed way too hard I need to see this. I LEFT THEM OPTIONAL AS JUST BEING NORMAL FLOWERS OR... NOT? depending on how one wants to take the direction of it. it'd be really fucking hard to tell for a long time since they're actually wearing real flowers. and people might just think they snuck some of the booze LOL

THIS IS WHOLESOME AND HE LOVES IT. Snacks for teaching a girl how to play fun skill games. Literally the best. He'll do his best to teach her and eventually end up juggling a whole bunch of the sticks and beanbags for her because insanely good circus acrobat/street performing clown background and he likes entertaining people. Also sometimes he likes to show off a little and it's terribly cute and wholesome.

sansa will be drinking wine but.....not that much.....she has a fairly average tolerance from being allowed a little wine at feasts growing up and a lot...more....in king's landing

she will be very impressed with his tricks!! and perhaps tell him about florian the fool that was a knight.......(altho she likes aemon dragonknight better especially now)

Alcohol makes him horrendously nauseous because lol PTSD from his childhood. He can be really judgey about it given how much of a drunk his master was, but it's okay... He might eye her wine a little bit but not say anything about it LOL. It's why the only way to ever actually get him tipsy is something like the demon flowers event prompt, but... I think he needs just wholesomeness for right now so I probably won't run with it here lmao. Maybe. We'll see.

[Checking in about how many maimed fingers are at this party right now - currently none, good job everybody - is obviously the most important thing they could be doing, next to wondering about beanbag horseshoes. Palamedes is about one part interested in Party Status, two parts interested in counting all the eyeballs on his hands and forearms, and one extra part interested in just loitering around with Viktor.

Currently, he is recounting the eyes, having lost count when several decided to open and/or close and change the whole arrangement from what he remembered. Inconsiderate. He blinks (oh boy, does he blink), and turns to look. —Ah, yes. Hmm.]

Oh, in that case, I was never here, [he says, not very seriously. Shoyo seems to enjoy running around shouting for him, that's all.] He wants to put me in a sports jersey; I don't know if I'll recover.

[Of course, Viktor is not going to be any help with avoiding this thing, he knows because of the face Viktor makes every time the children's sports team comes up, so he lifts an eyeball'd arm to wave. Shoyo... over here... hello...]
