Seeing the horse-like creature go for the pastry does help to quell some of Maul's suspicions. "Ah, so you eat bread. That is good to know." Granted, that didn't mean the creature still couldn't eat meat if it wanted to, but the priorities seemed to be on the bag of baked goods rather than taking a chunk out of him instead.

He begins to relax a little. Maul is very fond of animals, at least when they're not something that might try to eat him. They don't judge him nearly as harshly as sentient beings tend to do. No one blames an animal for killing. Generally, they do it out of hunger or to protect themselves, while Maul did so for far more complicated reasons, but still he felt more a kinship to wild things sometimes then his fellow Sleepers here in the city.

She gives a snort and seemingly a nod of her head in reply to that question. They are her goods, after all, although it likely wouldn't seem like it. Finishing, she whuffles, an almost expectant expression on her face, ears perking forward. She knows there are more, and she is a bit limited in her ability to pick things up. More, yes? The want for food currently outweighs any other feelings that she might be having.

He's perceptive enough to pick up on the nod she gives him. "You can understand me then?" Granted, this wouldn't be the first possibly sentient animal he's dealt with here, so it's not entirely a surprise. After over two years of living in Pthumerian towns, there really isn't a whole lot that outright shocks Maul anymore.

He picks up another pastry, this one with his actual fingers, and holds it out to the creature. If she tries to bite him, he will bite her back, feral Zabrak that he is.
