[open] Sᴀɴᴄᴛᴜᴀʀʏ - May renovations
The Sanctuary - RENOVATIONS START
MAY BEGINNINGS
Following the discovery of a guardian sapling within an abandoned and ruined monastery on the edges of Crenshaw and the sudden growth of purified plant life around it, there's a growing bustle of activity around it. Word of mouth first from the boy who first found it talking with those on the street he knew and had helped before, asking if they might help him clear some of the debris in order to reach it more easily, and then people they told, and so on and so forth. Small, relatively nonviolent and previously animal Beasts have been observed flocking there where they begin to slowly regain themselves, and so inhabitants of Trench start coming as well to see it for themselves. Those suffering corruption or despair come to sit under its boughs and let its tranquil aura help set them at ease. People start chattering on the street, marveling at it and the unprecedented greenery it's brought with it, and begin setting up small shops and carts out front to peddle wares to those who are basically pilgrims. Some are useful... some aren't. Incense is common.
Residents of the Trench and Sleepers both can be found milling back and forth, sweeping, dusting, moving debris, or taking hammer and nail to build anew, and anyone who lingers and looks for too long might be asked to help pitch in and quickly saddled with tools they may or may not know how to use. (It's fine.) Alternatively, someone might try to just slip by and explore to see what else there might be that hasn't been fully uncovered yet.
A white-haired boy in a wheelchair is there almost every day, and most inhabitants if asked "how did this place come to be" would point and say "Ser Allen" seemed to be here first and began asking people he knew to help him start to clear out the debris. Others followed and began lingering around, curious and drawn by the idea that something new might be starting, as well as feeling and marveling at the tree's tranquil aura that now blankets the grounds. If the boy is asked, he'd say it started because of Lady Amaterasu planting one of her trees here and it's something they should take care of. That it was meant to help give people hope and some comfort. "What is this place called?" Well, most people would shrug and look a bit confused as well about that at first. Before answering, finally:
"It's a Sanctuary."

Courtyard
The heart of the Sanctuary, one of the special guardian saplings planted by Amaterasu. The old monastery revolves around a large courtyard that is surrounded by cloisters, at the center of which is a large sakura tree in full bloom. The whole of the courtyard is covered in greenery and flowers unlike can normally be found elsewhere in the Trench aside from where there are similar such trees, and a pool of forever-pure water looks like it's just waiting for some fish. It's in full bloom this month, and some residents have started trying to make a tea from its petals. It's said to be very relaxing (and delicious, delicately floral and positively... heavenly. But don't drink in excess.)
It's the most common place for both residents of the Trench and Sleepers to be, as its tranquil aura helps soothe one's mind and ease corruption. Napping at its roots or in its branches seems quite popular, and birds and small animals can often be found there, drawn by it. Because of this, one Sleeper has started leading meditation sessions for corruption relief there.
Small and non-violent Beasts also seem drawn in, similar to how they are with the salt lake under the full moon. Twisted little fairies that are not so consumed that they don't still desire to be saved, they can be found resting there before slowly beginning to slip back to their formal selves; perhaps a dove, or maybe mice. Perhaps one could find similar such Beasts, either non-violent or easily restrained, and help bring them there in the hopes that they might also be able to be healed...?

INFIRMARY WING
Many of those who have come seeking some sort of tranquility are taxed, injured, or suffering in a way where they may need to rest within the confines of safety. One of the first spaces that has been cleared and made useable is a makeshift infirmary. There are simple beds and cots, a series of rooms for some privacy for those who simply need a clean and restorative place to stay temporarily versus those who need more medical attention. It's no Lumenarium, no place with any advanced medical treatment, but there are basic supplies for treating wounds and illness that have been donated. No one will be turned away, though violent individuals would be... dealt with in order to not be violent or cause harm, and anyone is welcome a bed for a night if it's needed. Some healers filter in and out, and most medicine practiced here is not the blood ministry common in Lumenwood but a mix of Sleeper powers from their worlds and basic aid.
A stockpile has been started for various items known to help reduce corruption or Beasthood as well, notably orbs of hope and a few precious moon drops, though most of those have been reserved for study. Anyone helping to assist, or who gets care, would be asked to just help return the favor for the ill and corrupted by donating what they can when they can.

KITCHEN AND DINING HALL
Where there are people and the needy there is a need for food! A ramshackle affair currently, lunch and dinner is usually provided in the dining hall for anyone who is helping with the renovations or assisting in some manner, as well as anyone who has come there for aid. All the food is brought in via either donated supplies from local merchants or farms, some Sleepers, and pot luck style.
The kitchens are easy to access though, currently dominated by a stout Crenshaw woman named Abigail who is very thorough in how she wrangles any lollygaggers into chopping mushrooms or gutting fish. No one is safe from her. No one. Heaven help you if you make a mess of her kitchen. She is there almost every day, will lecture a grown man like he's her child, but has a soft spot for young people and will sneak them extra helpings even if she'd deny it. Heaven help you also if you have cooking skills or show any interest in it, because you will find her immediately recruiting you.
Her daughter often comes by bearing a huge bushel of sometimes-questionable "fish", a middle-aged fisherwoman named Joanna.

MAIN HALL
Wide open at the moment, this is used primarily as an open community space at the moment. It leads directly through to the cloisters that surround the courtyard, and so all foot traffic passes through here. At the moment, it's used as a staging grounds for all donated materials that are being used for the reconstruction effort.
Intricate carvings, statues, and faded paintings are throughout the nave and altar area -- but all have been damaged or worn in such a way where it's hard to make out what sort of shrine this was originally, or to whom. Some people will chime in and say it was to Moon Presence herself. Others to Argonaut, or perhaps The Reckoning. Maybe something else entirely, some bygone remnant of another civilization. Who's to say, there doesn't seem to be any consensus or proof yet.
Lunar flowers have begun to grow again around the monastery grounds, so perhaps there's something to be said for it.

What are they doing: Touching Everything, or: using psychometry to energy-read all the old stuff, in particular the Art Pieces and anything else that looks like it was once important. He will then somehow round all this stuff up (please help him do this) and put it in a room chosen for it, the new Sixth Archives, please respect the items.
What was the timeframe: ongoing... but at least a week, I imagine.
Thread: there is a tl for this now for anyone else with this niche interest
late, but I had to get the good stuff approved

What are they doing: helping allen get settled in!! arranging food deliveries and trying to pay for everything with pale bloodstone!! sending people over from cellar door!! she will absolutely feed any hungry batcats she comes across and any resulting infestations can probably be blamed on her
What was the timeframe: mid-late may, she'll be moving on to placating/recruiting hunters once things are more set up but will continue to send people over (and suggest her clients send people over) from cellar door as much as she can
Thread: happy to set one up for like, decorating!!! handwaving deliveries with npcs, will probably set something up with the Farm Boys thru inbox tags
I'm sorry for the delay! needed mod input and new job hit like a brick

What are they doing: Top level here! He's limited to not being as combat-oriented as he usually is, but that means he's around the grounds a lot more than he otherwise would be and accidentally kickstarted renovation of something more than just a garden with a fancy tree. Woops. Easy to find him any and anywhere, and especially hanging around and being an empathetic Night Walker of sorts for people who come in. He can still fight and purify Beasts (as even non-lethal exorcism with his abilities is violent), but it's... not ideal.
What might people notice or hear about them: Anything in the top level is fair game, and he additionally can be noticed seeming to know the names of literally just about every non-Sleeper Trench resident there. How? Seems who've gotten involved enough to pitch in is someone he's helped in the last 6 months... Be they someone on the street he helped comfort, did a favor for, eased the corruption of -- or saved from beasthood. And most are frank enough about this if asked. Also, friendly shounen protagonist.

What are they doing: she is around. consider her a very easy visitor to run into here at the sanctuary! ammy will be here frequently to check on the guardian sapling she planted and see how allen is doing with his beastly projects, if there are any sleepers in need, etc— just mother things. she's a bit of a nomad but consider her a constant here, for sure!
What might people notice or hear about them: the dog planted that tree— appearance-wise people will hear a mix of things about her. some say she's just a big white wolf, others say she is a friendly dog that plays with children, and others say she shines like the sun and carries its flames on her back. guardian spirit, animal totem, maybe even the rumors that she is a god! it's hard to see her confirming or denying, maybe you just have to have a little bit of . . . faith :)

What are they doing: also a dude who will be Around with his big pink lizard omen. might be studying the tree, might be walking around trying to fix/upgrade everything in sight, might just scribbling schematics into a notebook. he's big on the purification research side, so anything to do with that basically.
What might people notice or hear about them: the beast research, mostly. studying purification, beasts, more reliable ways to cure it, etc. he has huge mad scientist vibes just walking around sometimes in goggles, always has tools, why did he just take apart that entire toaster no one knows. come at me with anything really.

What are they doing: Gluing himself into the infirmary to help with patients/organization in there, bringing over some jars of hope orbs, very possibly just rooting around in less-than-spruced-up areas and Touching Things like those many old statues to see what he can get off a couple energy reads. He wants very badly to touch the tree for this reason, but he will be resisting. He has no upper body strength so he will have to ask for help moving anything larger than, like, a stack of books. tragique. If enough people start swarming Allen for being In Charge he may try to subtly intercept them... let Allen rest...
What might people notice or hear about them: he can't move furniture but he's eerily precise at medical care. you can trust this man with your stitches. if you let him poke your palm with a copper wire he can do an accurate diagnosis and he just shrugs and calls this a 'party trick' if asked. besides the beastly studies and infirmary interests, he may theorize aloud and at people about all these cool shrine relics he's putting his hands on, just look at 'em. neat.

What are they doing: Patrolling as a Hunter to protect the Sanctuary. If anyone is close to suffering beasthood, he might help haul them over to the Sanctuary before they get really bad. Might also help with some of the renovation: carrying heavy stuff, light construction work, that sort of thing. Also might hop in the kitchen and make some food. He doesn't know how to cook for a LOT of people but he can make something for one or two hungry people.
What might people notice or hear about them: He says "fuck" a lot. He's also pretty good at helping organize people and direct them to do things if they're feeling aimless, thanks to being a leader in the military. He's decent with advice and is working on his paleblood ability to listen to thoughts hoping that will help in the beasthood cleansing.
Re: Plotting/Handwaving
What are they doing: Klee is a tiny bag of energy. You can see her leaving bundles of foraged supplies of all sort. It's mostly edible plants, various mushrooms, mint and a dried lizard? Attempting to help with the sweeping, but the broom is too big. She's climbing stuff to help peak into the small opening because she is tiny. And that she's going to lay out a table of bombs, both lethal and none lethal. Some of them are quite cute for bombs.
What might people notice or hear about them: People might notice that Klee is fearless. She's climbed up the rafters to find anything. They might notice that she not full human with her pointed elf ears. Also, she is incredible friendly and waving at people. Her Omen is a small fox bunny who is much more mature than her. If you see her coloring, you might see one of three things: cute drawings of people, bomb formulas and schematics and with tiny little drawings. If you've met Diluc or Kaeya, you know that she's from Mondstat and a bit of a handful. But you also might have heard that she carries bombs and quite adept in both using and making them. Also, if you're living near Cellar Door, you might have heard muffled sounds of explosions. You will definitely hear Klee occasionally speak in the third person or use Klee instead of I.

What are they doing: Currently, just turning up, observing everything, and being a bit aloof like a stray cat.
What might people notice or hear about them: Maul's got a top level here! He's got a bit of a reputation in Trench for being a psychopath (rightfully so) but recently he's been trying to turn over a new leaf. He's mainly here out of curiosity and isn't interested in being a team player. But his Vileblood powers are specifically designed for being able to pull corruption out of people, which means he can be a valuable asset. The trick is getting him to use them for altruistic purposes. That'll take some convincing.
no subject
What are they doing: treating corruption thru blood hound therapy, making clothes for people in need, SMOOTHING THINGS OVER WITH/RECRUITING hunters allen has inadvertently offended, coordinating deliveries from farms and restaurants, generally sending people to the sanctuary either to or for help, trying to learn cooking in the kitchen, helping allen get established in his side gig as an entertainer.
What might people notice or hear about them: she's mostly there on weekends. she is very friendly but reserved!! she always refers to allen as 'ser allen' in front of locals. lady is almost always with her. she has a habit of calling the courtyard a godswood and the tree 'lady amaterasu's heart tree'. local night walkers and cellar door residents might say they heard about the sanctuary from 'alayne' or 'lady rook'
Literally a whole ass month late
What are they doing: Doing some grounds keeping/gardening. Meditating under the guardian sampling, feeding it energy from the Force to grow/ as well as radiating calm. Hanging out at the infirmary and trying to learn a little more science side of medicine and practice his minor healing abilities. Looking into ways to use his empathy/telepathy to aid curbing corruption and reversing beasthood.
What might people notice or hear about them: Ezra is a busy guy. There's a couple of afternoons a week he reliably at the orphanage, playing with the kids and guiding brief meditations and teaching other life skill, rather than at the Sanctuary. There's also a couple of days a week he puts in shifts at Trenchwood Farm, starting at the crack of dawn. This is his third or fourth job, basically, and the one he mostly fits around the rest of his schedule.
It's not hard to get him to cheerfully talk about people he broadly calls his family, both once back in his home galaxy and here. He currently lives in Cassandra with Obi-wan Kenobi and (sometimes) Anakin Skywalker.
He's generally dressed in this general Jedi style, but he favors more color, like blue and greens and oranges more than brown and beige. Some of his tabards are embroidered with patterns from Lothal. While he does not seem interested in beast hunting or patrolling, per se, he reliably carries both his lightsaber and small stun blaster from home.

similar to his.Sometimes he's in his black and red uniform coat over some other form of loose clothing. It's not like he can easily wriggle into his usual clothes after all; they've become more annoying than they're worth for now.As such, he's not as hands-on with helping with the renovations as he'd like to be, though he manages to haul and ferry items back and forth quite well despite it, delivering freshly donated supplies to any one of the individuals helping; medical and purification materials to those who tend to people in the infirmary, food items to the kitchens (that he snacks on in the process), and in general greeting people and chatting amicably with them (while seeming to know almost every resident of Trench who comes in by name...? at least the ones who are volunteering and regular). If someone steps in that he doesn't recognize and looks a little lost, there's a good chance they'll find him wheeling up to them with a gentle sort of smile and a hi, can I help you? Anyone he knows -- well that's a different sort of way where he brightens noticeably and comes over to talk with them. Or they can just surprise him while he's got his tongue stuck out in concentration while trying to scribble something poorly on some parchment... or trying to balance a number of items precariously, dick...
Anyone who seems to be suffering from corruption or ill thoughts, especially if they're sitting out by the guardian sapling and looking pensive... he'll offer to come sit with them (mind if I join you?), whether they want to actually talk or would simply just like someone else to be nearby. He won't even be that put off if they snap at him. Probably. And anyone who stumbles through the main doors suffering a deep corruption, who struggles and may be on the verge of beasthood...?
Directed immediately to him if he doesn't find them first. "There's an exorcist here, he's been able to help people before. Please, come this way."
Kind of seems like he might even be sleeping here half the time too... sometimes at night he can be found just dozing in his chair next to someone's bedside in the infirmary. Whose? It doesn't matter. Some soul there for recovery, mental or physical, he was chatting with and keeping company before they fell asleep and then he soon followed. If you're a dick who snuck in there to steal supplies though... don't think he won't wake up. (He's got Tim for that.) Sometimes even he seems to doze off in the middle of the day near the sapling, whoops. He's been exhausting himself more easily since dying. This sucks.
And he can always be found hanging around the kitchens and dining hall and never misses a meal. Ever! This is the actual best. He's so happy. Abigail is his newest, fourth mother. Even if she terrifies him and he's gotten his knuckles whacked more than once. Before meals are served, he can often be found entertaining any children present (young... or old) in the dining hall. Usually with feats of acrobatics where he juggles anything he's thrown, the items sometimes numbering well over a dozen and including things that probably should never be juggled because you could kill someone but he does so anyway with the air of a seasoned circus pro. Donated glowsticks and other such items for this effort are greatly appreciated. ]

Cw body horror and blood topics
He's managed to hide most of his transformed body beneath the cloak he was given when he woke up and the remains of his great coat, but fitting four arms and three pairs of wings under is difficult.
D's dual nature is visible in his split appearance. On the right side his skin is a luminous white with a strange texture, and pale red and gold feathers have replaced his hair and descend down his neck to cover the top of his shoulder. The right leg has a distinctly bird-like appearance end ends in a set of talons that should make far more noise than they do with each step. Large gleaming white feathers sticking out down near his legs indicate one or more feathered wings.
On the left side D is covered in sleek scales that shift from an unnaturally dark black to more of a void than a color. Where there are feathers on his right side is short, coarse fur. The leg on that side is reptilian and doesn't have the same position or number of joints as the right. Down behind him hangs several long exposed bones, the skeletal structure of bat's wings wrapped in tangible shadow rather than flesh and with visible blood pulsing through ethereal veins.]

viktor | open (and one closed) plant body horror warning
mushrooms grow up his neck with a faint glow and all the visible veins under his pale skin looks more like branching vines. plant man, basically. happens.]
[menacing the appliances - open]
[viktor generally comes by to help with the renovations, though he is both a scrawny nerd and not really equipped for carrying things around given the crutch. hence he tends to help in ways where he doesn't have to do heavy lifting or standing around, killing his knee. maybe some painting? organizing? etc.
his omen, a very big pink lizard, is probably more helpful there. she may even let people put things on her back or push boxes around with her big head. typically she's napping though or chasing dust bunnies. beware getting run into, she is Large.
aside from that though someone may be able to find viktor sitting at a table and just dismantling an entire toaster piece by piece, spreading the parts out and humming to himself about it. he's fixing it, honest. more than one appliance will get this treatment.]
[tree studies - open]
[another place he can be found is the big cool tree. sitting under it, writing in his notebook, examining the petals and soil. he doesn't take any direct samples, though at one point he does get himself up on one of the bigger roots, trying to reach up and gently tug down one of the branches to get a better look.]
Ah--!
[annnd of course he loses his balances and tumbles back. watch him fall? help? try to help and fall too? enjoy.]
[evening wandering - closed to allen]
[it's later in the month and later in the evening when viktor finds it difficult to get up from where he was resting against the tree.
this isn't new, not his entire life really, but the sluggishness he feels here isn't from his knee or his back. he can recognize it in the slow crawling of the vines under his skin, in the way one of his eyes has sunken in completely and given way to more greenery, venus fly traps cascading down his face. it's in the way if he moves his poncho his organs are visible and choked with roots and leaves and vines.
troubling. he doesn't think this will kill him but he has no doubt it's going to make working difficult, which is nearly as bad in his opinion. he should get up and back to the bunker, figure this out, but maybe a few more moments staring up at the rising moon wouldn't hurt.
at the very least allen found a nice place. he can be glad for that.]
no subject
It's peaceful, and brings him a comfortingly bittersweet kind of nostalgia. But he also isn't used to seeing many other people down here after it's begun to get dark, so he's a little surprised to see a figure resting against it. Someone napping? Except that looks like-- ]
Viktor? [ He wheels himself closer, mindful of being more careful on the ground as opposed to stone, but with a bit more urgency. He's seen the plant transformation the older man has been keeping at bay, was pretty concerned at him about it too, but so far at least it hadn't seemed as bad or inconvenient as some. Last he saw, at least; he can only really see his silhouette at the moment. But something about the way he's resting there, not even trying to poke at or inspect the tree as he usually does... ]

ghosts
he just got done fixing up a few appliances and now he's leaned against his crutch on his way to find something else he could help with. maybe talk to allen about setting up a heating system with lunar energy or something while they have time before winter, etc.]
Hm, that sounds dramatic though. Does the building have secrets you cannot coax out? [he says as he walks over to regard the secret keeping wall.]

Darth Maul | Open
If asked to help out with the restoration efforts or if he has anyone thrust some tools his way, his face will regain that usual angry look, his eyes going flat and hard while there's a frosty tone to his voice.]
I think not.
[It's best just to drop the subject at that point. If pressed, he will simply leap using his Force powers an amazing distance that shouldn't possible for a humanoid being, sometimes into the branches of the guardian sapling or onto the roof of the nearby building, walking along these uneven surfaces as surefooted as if he were on the ground.
At any rate, it's clear that Maul's not a team player at all. You'll have better luck with asking one of the two wearing the Mandalorian-style helmets that are still standing there, watching their leader as he refuses to come down from wherever he is now.]
Maul pls
Most people around here would know better than to press Maul like that, especially when he scowls in such a way -- but Abigail, the cook, does not care. And she would scold him for standing around lollygagging and doing nothing like a small child. So, well... up he goes and there she goes, finally giving up. "Well I never...!"
Allen... is a reluctant observer. Glancing back and forth for a moment between the angry-looking man now up in the branches of the guardian sapling (please be careful) and the two he came in with who seem to be acting as guards. Debating. Ah... damnit...
He wheels closer, up to the two who are still on the ground and in easy talking distance. And maybe more amenable. ]
I'm sorry, can I help you...? [ why is your friend(?) acting like an angry cat...? ]
Maul gonna Maul!

Jason Kolchek | Open
Every now and then Jason popped into the kitchen to see what kind of ingredients they might have. He would take note of anything they might need. Abigail did eventually somehow find out he knew how to cook and put him to work. So anyone in the Sanctuary might find him there cooking a meal or two. Not enough to feed more than one or two people at a time, but it's something.
[Courtyard - Mid May - Open]
[Just when the month's effects start to kick in, Jason chooses to hang out here. This is a rare moment for people to see him without a hat on. Mostly because with the ram horns growing, he can't get the hat on his head anymore. He's just trying to chill and not panic. These horns are not the same as the ones Joey had... He's okay, he's okay. Right?]
[Wildcard]
[For the renovations, if anyone needs help with some light construction work or moving heavy objects, Jason is your dude. Or if you just see him coming by the Sanctuary a lot while on patrol (yes he wears Hunter clothes so it's obvious what he's doing), feel free to just strike up a conversation. Or poke me at
kitchen!
[in he comes with one last glance around.] Miss Abigail is very useful but she is obsessed with trying to force food down my throat. [because he helped allen save her daughter and is a fucking twig of a man, shockingly.]

Klee | Open
[If you see a small red blur pass you by, it's Klee. When she skids to a stop, you'll notice her backpack is full, as well as her arms. Her arms are full of leeks or what look like leeks before she hands the vegetables over to the cook.]
Here Miss Abigail! I found the vegetable you wanted! Klee's going to drop up all the other plants and stuff I found! There's a lot of stuff Klee found! It's all food or stuff that cam be put into food.
[Abigail chuckles before giving Klee a pat on the head before sending her off. IF you look closely, you can see Abigail subtly stuffed a snack into the girl's pocket. As she takes off, she may accidentally bump into you in her excitement to empty out her heavy backpack. Rubbing her head, she looks up before look remorseful.]
Sorry! Klee didn't see you. Did you come here to drop off stuff too?
[Everywhere else, Throughout May]
[Klee is generally doing her best to help the church in as best she can, despite her young age. You can find her in a variety of situation:
- When helping to clear out the Church, she's getting into the tiny spaces that most don't fit to find things or up the rafters getting into the hard-to-reach places. Klee seems unafraid of the dark or the heights as she cheerfully helps. She may or may not ask if using bombs would help clear things out quicker.
- Klee is sitting beneath a tree, almost attempting to obscure herself despite her bright red outfit. Unlike other times, she's not exactly happy or cheerful. She's just there in the courtyard.
[Wildcard]
[Feel free to worry about a small child running around doing dangerous things. If not, feel free to chat with her. If you want something specific, feel free to comment on the plotting for a closed starter or specific prompt.]
[Ooc: Depending on when you find Klee, she looks perfectly normal or in her monstrous form. Early in May, her hands are clawed like a dragon, red fins are on her neck, her teeth are like that of a dragon, and if you manage to see her arms, they're a mix of dragon and fish scales.]

That outfit... Klee? Except... when was she ever so quiet and still. Was she hurt, or had she started to become corrupted? Was that why she was beneath the tree?
He turns and moves towards her, simple white robes for May and still in a wheelchair. She would have seen him in it since he first started showing his face around people again sometime after the first week, and if asked he would have smiled and tried to wave it off, saying it was alright; just injuries from fighting a beast. His legs would recover. ]
Miss Klee? [ It's concerned, and when he can see it's definitely her he hurries more, a wheel kicking for a moment over a rock in his haste. ]
Are you alright?
