( open ) sit down a while and watch the flowers blooming
Who: Frisk and your character!
What: A couple event prompts and one other.
When: During May.
Where: Various places.
a) stay DETERMINED
( Time is strange, especially from the point-of-view of a child. While time seems to have passed rather quickly for Frisk, it also feels as though the days have dragged on since they ended up participating in the game that sent him into the jungle. That had been difficult for them – perhaps one of the more difficult trials that they had gone through.
Since then, they haven't felt like quite themselves. It's been difficult to completely focus on those around them like before, and they're more preoccupied with what they can do. They haven't tested the extent of their powers, and so – that's what they're doing now. It could be something completely minor that Frisk is doing at the moment – having a conversation with someone else, playing a game, purchasing food with the small amount of money that they have. It's then that they use the abilities that they have from home, LOADing in order to go through what they did before. It may feel like a slight shift in the air, a vague tug. No matter what someone feels in response to Frisk going back, their expression remains neutral.
Your character will either feel a feeling of deja vu, or they themselves will realize that time has reversed itself. Frisk will resume what they're doing from before – whether it's holding now unspent money, or going back to a game that they had lost. )
b. self-evaluation
( The changes come quickly, though it's still painful all the same. Long, curved horns grow where they shouldn't be – human teeth are replaced sharp fangs, dirty-brown fur grows where skin once was. There's no hiding the claws that suddenly grow, either – and by the time they're done changing, they no longer resemble a human. Instead, they look far closer to the goat-like monsters that they had met in the Underground at home. Only... there's no denying that they don't quite look as welcoming as those monsters.
They're avoiding looking in the mirrors right now. They know that they're still themselves – there's no denying that, but there's also no denying how scary they actually look right now, too. While it doesn't take them long to gather courage to make their way outside, at one point they can't help but stop. They catch sight of their reflection in one of the nearby shops and quickly look away and make a sharp turn –
Only to run into someone close by. They stumble back for a moment before looking upwards – offering a quiet apology. )
Uhm – sorry.
c. imposters
( The vine appears unexpectedly – appearing in Frisk and Chara's room and tangling itself around Frisk's leg before they have any chance to respond. It latches itself onto them then, and before they realize it, a golden-colored flower begins to blossom on near their right eye. A hand goes to the sudden new, yet vague weight freezing when they feel petals and stem where it shouldn't be.
It feels like a knee-jerk reaction at this point in time, Frisk deciding to try to go back in time and LOAD to the time before the plant had latched onto them – however, it backfires, another flower next to the other. It's something that they try multiple times – attempting to hopefully try to RESET - going even further back in time - instead of LOADing. Though, by the time they give up trying to reverse what's happened, there's a significant number of flowers grown to the point where their vision is obscured.
They'll make their way out of their home after realizing that this is out of their own hands, wanting to find some sort of other solution to their problem. However, their movements are sluggish and careful – hand moving to carefully hold where the flowers had latched themselves. If someone tries to greet them, they'll stop in their steps and slowly look upwards. )

…. Hello?
no subject
Maybe you don't look as bad as you think, too.
no subject
[Michael flaps a hand; he's pretty sure he does!]
Well, this is my place - you want a hat or something? I've had fur a couple times over the years, I think I could find some nice breathable fabrics.
no subject
Besides, it'd be nice to not scare others right now. )
Okay.
( They look up for a moment, brows furrowing in curiosity. )
Did you change into a monster before...?
no subject
[He'll unlock the door and lead the way inside!]
No, I'm a demon. We don't naturally have physical forms, so this - [Gestures to all of himself.] - is just a construction. I've had different ones before. You don't actually get a human shape assigned until you hit a certain rank, before that it's all just weird monster things...lava monster's a common one. Spent some time as a big bat thing, too.
no subject
Oh.
( It's a lot to take in at once! It sounds a lot like they may have looked like the monsters that they've met at home. )
I've never met a demon before. But... I've met a lot of different kinds of monsters.
( Despite him saying that he's a demon - he doesn't seem like a bad person at all. Frisk doesn't seem nervous in the slightest. )
no subject
[Michael, for his part, doesn't really take "monsters" as anything inherently alarming. It's just such a broad term, and the kid doesn't seem upset talking about them.
Hats are something that doesn't need to be tailored so specifically, in most cases, so he's got a rack of pre-made ones near the front of the store. Michael picks one up at random, holding it up between himself and Frisk as if to eyeball it.]
I'd need to adjust for the horns, but anything that's already pretty big on top might be alright. Or else something hooded...what do you like?
no subject
( It's true that Frisk ended up being hurt by most of them at one point or another, but they've forgiven them -- even if it took a little longer to do so for some of them.
The hat that Michael picks up is far more fancy than anything that they've worn recently. Then again, the most recent, different things that they had worn were clothes that seemed to have been left behind by others. They cup their chin in contemplation before taking in his next words.
They look around for a moment then, taking in the clothes around them once more before looking at one of the stripped hoodies. )
What about one of those...?
no subject
All the same, he doesn't make money by pushing his own aesthetic on others. He sets the hat back in his place and moves over to pick up the hoodie.]
Sure, that could work. Just needs a bigger hood, really. [He glances up at Frisk.] Do you want me to tailor one just for you? It would fit better, but I'd want to get measurements.
[Tailored clothing always looks and feels better, in his opinion, but he's learned that some people don't love getting measured like that. Anyway, it's a hoodie. He's known the pleasure of drowning oneself in an oversized hoodie.]
no subject
( They accept the offer with a soft smile and quiet words, but it's genuine all the same. The smile itself shows how sharp their fangs actually are, but it's a little funny -- Frisk might look a bit creepy now, but they aren't intimidating or threatening at all.
With what he's offering, they can't help but ask: )
Uhm -- did you make all the clothes here by yourself?
no subject
[Michael gestures for them to come over to the mirrors, and produces a measuring tape. There's nothing for them to stand on - he doesn't often have children as clients - but he can take a knee. Despite his appearance, he moves as fluidly as a much younger human.]
I was an Architect, back home. Pretty much like the ones here, but more with buildings and landscapes. Always liked clothes, though... [He's quiet for a second, committing a number to memory.] I wasn't really free to dress the way I liked, most of my existence. It's fun.
no subject
( Frisk does as directed - making their way to the mirrors. They look up at Michael with interest. They'll stand still, letting Micheal do whatever he needs to do. )
Does that mean you get to do more here than you did at home?
no subject
[He'll measure them around and along the torso, quick and efficient, still speaking as he goes.]
But I can just do whatever I want. There, it was more about...filling requests, a lot of the time. Work stuff, you know. Or maybe you don't - they don't make kids your age work anymore, do they?
no subject
I don't, but -- I think I understand. You can do more, but you also can't.
I don't work. My friend and I have been okay without a lot of money, but... did they have to work before? When everyone was in a dream...?
no subject
[Actually, he's pretty sure a lot of them skipped out on it, which makes perfect sense to him. Who wants to bother with all of that in a nightmare town?]
But a lot of human societies have had their kids working. For most of history, as far as I recall. Not that I was paying a ton of attention for all of it.
no subject
( That does sound far different than the situation here. Frisk hasn't heard anything about a school -- but, if they had, they wouldn't exactly mind going. )
... There's rules about things like that in some places. You have to be almost an adult before you can work.
( They aren't so sure about that kind of thing in most places. They're much too young to really give working a serious thought in the first place -- even if it meant thinking of what they might want to do when they get older. They've always been someone to go with the flow more than anything else. )
It sounds like the dream was a lot different than here.
no subject
[Michael sorts idly through some clothes on a rack, before clarifying:]
The dreamer.
[.....]
You wanna feel some fabric swatches? I've got a lot of those. [nailed that subject change!]
no subject
( Frisk's expression noticeably falls then. They still don't know the whole story involving Julia, but they know that the entire ordeal with them is tragic. If asked, they wouldnt hesitate to admit that they want to help her. )
Uhm -- okay. ( They'll make their way over to him. ) Which one do you like best?
no subject
[It's just a hum of acknowledgement in the back of his throat. The truth is, Michael had wanted very badly to help Julia, too. But he hadn't understood how to, so instead he'd just...
Well.]
I like silk and satin - very smooth. [Here's his book! It really is just swatches for people to feel, in various coordinated colors. This is really the extent of the fabric he keeps in the store. Everything is made via magic, so all that's really necessary is to make sure he doesn't give someone a texture they hate.] Back home - well, it's not really home anymore, but back in Hell, our dress was very...prescribed. No bright colors, mostly coarse colors. Nothing flashy.
[Which probably explains several things about the way he dresses now, but he thinks that obvious enough not to explain it out loud.]
no subject
They feel nice.
( They look up at him when he speaks next, frowning slightly at his words. )
... Are you happier here?
( It sounds a little like... he's more free to be himself in this world, despite being limited here. )
no subject
[So...no, not really. Trench sucks like 85% of the time at least.]
But I try not to compare. I've got friends here who weren't at home, so...I guess there's pros and cons. Besides, I'm immortal. I'll get back there sooner or later.
[It's a much easier thing to say when he’s got all eternity to do it in. This can't all last literally forever.]
How about you? How are you finding things here?
