( Samatoki's setting up in the wide main room, on a raised dais towards the top of the room. The room is smoky, smelling of incense and tobacco-vapor from the hookahs.

When people start to pour in, he performs a few songs. One is a cover of a western song he likes; the other is a Japanese song he's more familiar with.

When he hops off the stage — offer a drink, some conversation, a round at the hookahs? Even an offer for a freestyle jam back onstage? He's open to all of it. )
