[Tragic backstory is what he specializes in listening to. But he isn't going to pry, not now. He watches the other move around and keeps an eye out for any sort of injured moving... but he doesn't see anything. He's glad, since that was the whole point of him taking the damage.]

[Still, things here are weird. He's not certain.]

Yeah... just wanted to make sure. I don't want to send you off without helping you, if I can.

[Maybe he's a little too concerned over someone he just met, but this is just how he is. He can't help but feel protective over everyone he meets.]

[asides from the limp on one side, dabi's not showing much more wear and tear outside of the bandages and covered bruises. aka: nothing more than he came in with. so nara'a's succeeded in being his heroic self and protecting the other person. he's not getting thanks for it though, just some treatment of his own.]

If ya that keen on helpin me, then let's say ya owe me a favor later on.

[on the one hand, he could brush it off, but if this guy's going to be concerned with repayment enough to keep bringing it up (and turning down the wardrobe rock), then dabi offers another solution.

[It's in his nature. But he considers the offer for a moment. Owe someone like him a favor? He's not sure that's a good idea. He's heroic, not stupid. Hmmm...]

Fine, but I get the chance to reject it if I think it's going to hurt people.

[And 'hurt' is broad intentionally. He's not going to do something for the other without consideration.]

But that works. You did something for me, I'll do something for you.

[He'd give Dabi one if he had an empty one, but he doesn't. He's not that good at aetheric engineering.]

[you'd be surprised how much heroic and stupid tend to go hand in hand. though the way those wheels are going around in those eyes, dabi's guessing that second offer is up for processing.

a brow arches at the caveat. hn... so he's not stupid.]

[he'll keep it in his back pocket, proverbially, until he needs it later. might be something benign, but will likely be to his advantage regardless.]

Kinda how this place works.

[he pushes off the counter and sweeps the bag off onto his wrist, hand grasping around the handles after to double grip it.]

Unless ya got somethin else, I'm leavin.

[He nods, amused at the eyebrow raise. He's dealt with politics before - he knows his way around a deal. He works to hide the quirk of a smile - he doesn't think Dabi would be too impressed with it.]

Yeah, there's not really much of a money system here, huh?

[Deals and trading... not something he's unused to, though he does miss the flexibility of having a large amount of cash available.]

No, I'm good. You take care of yourself.

[well, he doesn't have carte blanche on the favor, but in some cases, having a favor owed can be better than getting an item for his efforts. all in all, it's been a fair trade, especially since nara'a took the majority of the damage in this entire event.]

Nah. Money's mostly a curiosity people like to trade for.

[some sleepers like it for nostalgic value. but the way the locals want blood most often is annoying... dabi likes the money system as well, since it's easier to acquire.

anyways. he merely lifts his hand and heads for the door.]

Close the house up when you leave. I wanna keep the tub.

[and he can't exactly move it to his own place, so... it stays here.]

Yeah... it's shiny, I get it.

[All the money he knows - at least common money - is gil. Shiny gold coins. He can see why they'd be prized in a place like this.]

[He doesn't stop Dabi when he starts heading out, only nods and stretches a little bit.]

Yeah, I will. There a lock on the door I should check, or just pull it closed?

Uh-huh.

[dabi's world has both paper and coin, so it's got some sentimental value with people from worlds like his own. not that he says much about it unless he feels a trader would be interested.]

Yeah, there's a lock on the doorknob. Twist it and then pull the door shut.

Got it. I'll probably head out soon.

[This 'painkiller' is really doing what it advertises and he's very much enjoying that.]

[It's phrased as a question, even if it isn't really one. Trench isn't all that big, compared to a lot of places he's been.]

[that's all he's gonna say as he walks down the stairs, spiky hair getting lower and lower until it disappears along with his shoulders and the rest of his lanky form. the door shuts behind him a few seconds later and dabi takes his leave.

fuck... he's gonna sleep for two goddamn days to recover from this.]
