i couldn't stand the person inside me, i turned all the mirrors around
who: kylo ren + you
what: intro and settling in
where: throughout
when: June, around tdm time
I.
Kylo Ren doesn't cope well with being displaced as he is. Not when the Force around him feels... strange. Not quite as full of life, perhaps dull and muted is the word to use? He doesn't know -- he's gotten the introduction, read the leaflet, listened to the chatter on the beach he'd woken up in a body that felt just ever so slightly off. Like a pair of trousers that once fit but needed to be adjusted for whatever reason.
Now that that disorientation had passed, he picked up the bag of his belongings: a sodden cape, leather gloves, the hilt (which goes on his belt) and the broken pieces of the mask (which he nearly throws back into the ocean upon finding them), and moves throughout the city. For a man so tall, and dressed all in black his attempts at blending in might seem somewhat laughable, as does his not-so-sunny disposition, a scowl that seems almost etched onto his features.
He brushes through the crowd without much of a word or pleasantry to anyone.
And force help anyone who wants to catch his eye.
II. (nightmares)
The way Kylo has always avoided the nightmares and memories that typically plague his sleep? Work and train himself into exhaustion, until his mind is too tired to dream at all. Normally, it works well enough, he can function and behave normally - or as normally as Kylo Ren does. Here, without a purpose or cause to cling to, he feels a bit... lost. And it's simpler to lose track, so he begins to have nightmares. Violent, and vivid. Plunging his lightsaber through his father's heart, the way his uncle had stared down at him, and his only friend -- Tai, being cut down by Ren.
It doesn't only happen during the night, but in the day as well. He pulls himself out of a dream, standing straight where he'd nearly slumped over where he stood to shake the dust out of his mind.
"Don't bother. I don't require any assistance." He says to any single onlooker or one attempting to reach him.
III. (wildcard)

"Fine." With all the grace of a child, being told off for misbehaving and is thus being punished for it, he starts off in the direction Rey gestured towards. He's much too bone weary to put up much more of a fight at this point, anyways.

They don't have far to walk before her speeder is in view, though when she reaches it that poses another problem. The seat is certainly big enough for two, but not exactly a roomy fit. She presses her lips together in a thin line as she regards it for a moment, before pulling herself up into the seat and scooting forward as far as she possibly can. Turning to look down at Kylo she holds out her hand.
"I know those lamp things are faster, but this I'm more comfortable with."
no subject
"Did you build this?" In her memory, he'd seen her and the work she put into her own, and the repairs she'd put into machinery found.
no subject
"It washed up here. But it's the one I built on Jakku." She offers, before setting them in motion, off towards her home in Crenshaw. She doesn't relax, trying not to pay attention to the fact that the heat of his body felt nice against her back.
and there was only one seat
Regardless of how far off they were, the lull of machinery and the moment of peace (and proximity to Rey), he finds his head lolling forward, eyes growing heavy.
He blinks sleep out of his eyes, but the call is Too Strong, even for the strongest fortitude of Kylo Ren.
"....."

"Wh- oh." He's asleep. He really was exhausted. It would be easier if she woke him, she wouldn't have to worry about him slipping off unexpectedly, but instead she carefully shifts, pushing her butt back in the seat a little more and leaning forward so he's resting more solidly against her back. She lets go of the controls one at a time so she can thread her arms through his, securing him to her.
She hopes he's so asleep he doesn't realize what she's done, though as she pulls to a stop in front of her little bungalow she realizes she can't get him off the speeder without him being awake, so she nudges him gently.
"We're here."
no subject
"Are we there already?" Kylo asks, blinking owlishly as the situation clears when alertness comes back to him. His eyes feel heavy, body rubbery, as if waking up from a deep nap.
Ah. He'd fallen asleep.
They're almost entangled in one another, perhaps to keep him from falling off, he realizes, face going red at the thought. It's awkward, to pull himself away from her, and clamber off the speeder on stiff legs.
"You should've woken me up." Kylo grumbles.
no subject
"You're easier to deal with when you're asleep," she replies, walking up the little cobblestone pathway to the victorian-style bungalow and letting herself in. The ceilings inside are high thanks to a loft second floor so Kylo won't need to duck when he enters. The furniture is all old, a lot of it things she hasn't been able to replace yet, but she's done her best to clean it up.
"You can sleep in the loft. The couch is too small for you."
no subject
His mouth opens, and closes as she answers the question that had been on his lips.
And then.
He could ask where she intends to sleep, if he's taking up her bed, but doesn't - just trudges to the loft. Rey had invited him, therefore she could deal with that. His heavy booted stomping speaks for him, but he still briefly stops to call out to her:
"Goodnight."
