Live and die, and then... [open]
Who: D, his Left Hand, anyone
What: Open and closed prompts for general June catch all
When: early june and onward
Where: Various places
Content Warnings:: mention of blood drinking, apathy towards violence, casual disregard for the safety of others, violence, additional warnings to be added to closed prompts in comments
1. A stiff drink; any time in June, especially after the wilderness expedition returns; open
The end of the previous month had brought an end to D's excessive bloodthirst. Which meant that he could once again drink alcohol without experiencing an almost painful and intensely bitter disappointment at every drop that passed his lips and wasn't blood.
He was still not a very social person, but could be found in various drinking establishments around the city, slowly making his way through the wide variety of unfamiliar alcohol. His usual habit was to order the strongest drinks on offer and work his way down from there.
2. A bloodless cut; two weeks before the end of June; open
D wasn't one to get involved in the affairs of others. Drunken brawls simply weren't his concern, and even when one escalated immediately to a lethal level and had people fleeing, D only glanced over briefly to see why everyone was screaming and running.
This was more than just a drunken argument getting out of hand, but apparently a case of corruption. The corrupted man was apparently not satisfied yet either, as he was lunging at the next nearest person with a jagged piece of wood from a broken chair.
Though he was half way across the room, D was suddenly next to the man in the blink of an eye. Before the sound of his sword being drawn could completely fade from the air his first slash had cut through the weapon, turning it from sharp enough to stab to a blunt end. The second slash, even faster and seeming no more than an arc of silvery light passed through the man's torso before he could stab the newly blunt end of his improvised weapon into his target.
Despite the arc of the slash that should've cut the man in half, he didn't even stumble. The man jabbed his newly blunted weapon against his target, only to realize it was no longer suitable for stabbing. D is the next target of his ire, the remaining stub of chair leg swung at him like a club was caught in D's left hand.
It was a waiting game now, to see how long it would take a corrupted person to drop from the very unusual slash he'd made that hadn't broken the skin or spilled a single drop of blood.

Her shout didn't draw his attention until he'd halted the attack, and only then did he glance at her for a brief, cold, calculating assessment.
"I have everything under control." D said with a low voice, his tone one of smooth tranquility that didn't match the situation. He tossed the club off to the side when the man released it to start trying to literally claw at D.
He didn't so much dodge the wild swipe with hands ending in claw-tipped fingernails as he seemingly flowed past it, seemingly moving far less than he actually was and with footsteps that didn't make a sound.

"You're not going to hurt him, are you?"

Soon was a relative word, of course. But this was enough of a low risk situation that D was confident in his ability to keep his opponent contained and reverse the damage he caused if necessary.
At the very least, the man was sweating hard and beginning to breathe heavily enough though they'd barely begun to fight. Frustrated, D's opponent turned away from him, but didn't even get to begin to swing before D planted his toes at the back of the man's knee and turned his lunge into a sprawl out on the floor between D and Usagi.
The man managed to get his hands under himself enough to avoid breaking his nose or injuring himself, but was clearly struggling to get back up. Fortunate, too, that he hadn't landed in the blood spilled before D got involved.

She took a step back as the man sprawled between them.
"Oh, well, it's a good thing no one got hurt... um... you AREN'T hurt are you?" well, even if he was he seemed like the sort not to say he was.
no subject
"I'm not hurt, though I can't say the same for everyone else." D would have left the bar fight alone otherwise, even if that meant leaving the blonde young woman to her fate. She was clearly a Sleeper, and D took a moment to study her intently.
There was more than just simple human teenager going on, even for a Sleeper, but her presence seemed contradictory to itself.
The man on the floor took a final pained gasps and stopped breathing. Dead, but not quite. His heart and breathing stopped but he was in a state of stasis more than anything else. The fount of life still flowed in him and his soul was still firmly tethered.
"Faster than I thought. Was it corruption or just poor health?" D asked no one in particular as he looked down at the man. His omen, a dark crow with an obvious scar down its' back flowed out of him like a small shadow separating from a larger one.
It eyed Usagi and croaked out a soft 'caw' at her. "Don't get distracted by a pretty face, you have a job to do." D reminded his omen. It fluffed up in indignation but flew from the room.

"We should get him to a blood minister!" she checked his pulse though she was at a bit of a loss on what to do without just... outright healing him with her crystal.
She looked up when she saw the crow and didn't really process the compliment as she wasn't sure if they should try and wrap up his wounds or not.
"Has he lost too much blood?"
no subject
"He's in a kind of stasis. I can reverse it when the corruption is dealt with and he'll only be a little sore and weak for a while," D explained as his sword slid back into its sheath with an oddly sweet and pleasing, almost musical sound. He had perhaps been a bit overzealous, ensuring the specific internal damage he caused wouldn't be able to regenerate with the same skill he used to wound vampires, but it was better to do that than risk the man partially regenerating and getting stuck in a state D couldn't undo safely.
He knelt down to carefully lift the man, keeping an eye on Usagi on the off chance she suddenly decided he was more of a threat than a helpful stranger. The red glow in his eyes had finally faded, leaving his irises an impossibly pure and glittering black.
"Unless a blood minister has very unusual abilities, they won't be able to reverse this." While he could tell he was talking with another Sleeper, her concerned and helpful nature led him to believe if she could heal the man on the floor or help purify his corruption that she would. And the fact that her first thought was 'a blood minister' rather than someone specific meant she was likely a dead end for locating more healers as well. There was a slim chance she knew someone with a helpful ability but D didn't view it as worth pursuing.
no subject
"Well," she stands up and pulls away as he comes close to the man, not exactly wanting to knock heads with D considering his size and her inclination to be a klutz. "Seems like you have everything handled here then."
Usagi had never actually tested the purification abilities of her crystal on those who were corrupted. She had no idea if she could heal them completely with it, though she had an inkling she couldn't since this place looooved to make her useless. And while she could heal, hell, she could heal in her civilian form now, she wasn't going to do it in front of complete strangers when D seemed to not only have everything handled but was absolutely not seeking her help.
"Guess I'll leave you to it, then," she wasn't sure what else she could even do at this point. Usagi was the 'help everyone, regardless' sort, to be sure, but this wasn't an emergency and D didn't seem to even want her assistance in any case.

"Try not to trip next time someone wants to stab you."
Which was apparently D's way of saying goodbye as he casually draped the man over his left shoulder as if he weighed nothing at all and turned to leave with him.
