So make a wish, I'll make it like your birthday everyday
Who: MHA Hero (S)Quad (Bakugou, Ochako, Deku, Todoroki) & friends of Ochako Uraraka
What: Ochako's Fake Birthday party surprise
When: (forward dated to) June 27th
Where: Rocky's Bar(cade) in Cellar Door
Content Warnings: Unruly teenage shenanigans, alcohol, underage drinking, will update as needed!
[[OOC: This log isn't necessarily OPEN, but if your character has met Ochako
floatsaway, is not a straight up villain and you would like to hop in, we can either handwave the RSVP or you can go over to this post to do the thing!]]
The day has come! If your character RSVP'd to Ochako's fake birthday party, they will have gotten a private message from one un; Dynamight with a location (Rocky's Bar(cade) ) and time (6pm). The party, put together during the earlier hours of the 27th, is set up in the upper bar portion of the converted warehouse. Streamers of all different colors are strung all over the place, and these resourceful teens actually managed to find a pack of balloons! No helium means that they have been fastened to streamers and walls, though there are a stray few that have found their way to the floor.
A banner is also strung from wall to wall near the upper level entrance, that reads (and has been added to with handwriting) Happy Fake Birthday!
There are three tables that have been covered in brightly covered confetti and glitter, each serving it's own important purpose. One has been designated for gifts,; obvious by the ever growing pile on the top of it).
Another is covered in an assortment of party snacks. Cookies (home made by yours truly, you're fucking welcome) in a slight variety: sugar, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle. There are chips, ranging from things like Doritos to tortilla chips, and just near the large bowls of those are slightly smaller ones filled with home made salsa. Katsuki isn't a complete maniac, these are labeled appropriately. One reads Whiny Babies, the next Guess You're Not A Total Bitch; aka medium spice level, and the last says For Bad Ass Motherfuckers... and that is clearly the inferno salsa that he suspects is going to be coming home with him by the end. If ya want real food, you're just going to have to settle for the appetizers that the bar offers or fucking go home for it, cause there was no way Katsuki was going to be able to cook actual food for the entire list of Ochako's friends. Drinks; booze, soda and water are all up for grabs at the bar, to save space.
The last table has a giant card for people to sign (with an assortment of colored pens and markers beside it), just in front of a huge plate of hand made mochi. Behind that plate is a magnificent cake (made by Snow White) that manage to even impress Katsuki.

Entertainment wise, the upstairs has both pool tables and dart boards, but should people need something more than that, there is an arcade downstairs. There's a paper on the entrance to the arcade with a note that reads You fuck shit up, I will personally END you... because Katsuki is already going to be working this off for ages and Dean (who he has no idea has left Trench entirely) won't appreciate his shit getting wrecked.
Katsuki; oh so clever, will be walking in with Ochako at about 6:15pm, having told her that while he was told about an arcade while doing his daily work out on Raleigh's farm. He's instructed everyone there to scream surprise in her face as loud as they can the minute they walk in... because that's what people do for shit like this, right???
Party on, motherfuckers!
(Side note, on July 1st, Rocky's Bar is going to mysteriously explode as per the Dean player's final request, so if anyone wants to harass Bakugou with accusations about that? Totally welcome.)

"Snow? That's a pretty name. I don't think I've met her before. So, c'mon, let's tr the cake."
She feels a little out of place, given how everyone seemed to know everyone so well, but she'd been more than a little slow about trying to make more new friends. She wants to, but the old insecurities reared their ugly heads.
And Lexi giggled. "So, I'm even hotter than the For Bad Ass Motherfuckers salsa? I'll take it."
no subject
"Snow White! Sure you've heard of her! But yes, her cake looks amazing!"
Luz made sure she was holding Lexi's hand, in case she felt anxious, but did so casually so she wouldn't be too overbearing.
"You better believe it, Hermosa!"
no subject
And no, I'm pretty sure I'd remember someone with that name. Unless everyone else is starting to blur. I'd hate that."
She gave Luz's hand a grateful squeeze as they walked along. This was all still very new and incredibly precious and she wanted to preserve that feeling as long as possible.
And Lexi grins. "Okay, I'm pretty sure that no one has ever called me hotter than salsa, but I'll take it!"
no subject
"Oh, then you have to say hi when you see her! She looks exactly what you'd expect someone with that name to look like."
Luz smiled and squeezed back. Things were new and a little scary, but she found that she could improvise much more easily than she thought, since Lexi tended to bring out her protective side anyway.
"Hey, I can't explain why people have bad place, chiquita. I just call 'em like I see 'em!"
no subject
"Oh, jeez. Like, perfectly good-looking? Storybook beautiful?"
But that notion didn't bother her as much as it previously had. Luz thinks she's beautiful. And she thinks that Luz is beautiful, brilliant, and kind as well as really easy to talk to. Those were the important things and she was going to cling like a barnicle.
"Well...most people are kinda shallow. They look at someone, put 'em in a box, and never take them out of it. But you're not like that. You see people."
no subject
"Oh no! Well, yes, but I meant more how she's described. 'Skin white as snow, hair black as ebony, lips red as blood,' that whole thing. It's straight out of the book!"
And poor Snow was just as naive and as sweet too, but Luz was sure that Lexi would understand if she ran into her later. Luz definitely didn't compare Snow to Lexi, as it wouldn't even enter her mind. Lexi, after all, was on a whole different level, even more so with their new relationship. Luz couldn't help looking at Lexi and just...staring a moment. Like now.
"I try to. And since I'm looking at the prettiest girl in the place, I don't think I'd trade places with anyone."
Sorry Ochaka, Scorpia and every other girl in the party. You were nice and great, all of you. You just weren't Lexi Howard, her girlfriend.
no subject
"And she's here? Wow. I think me and my childhood both passed out. I can hardly believe what goes on from month to month. even though it's been, what? Three months? Four?"
And Lexi would never compare Luz to anyone, no matter who she was, and find Luz lacking. Luz had a beauty of her own that had completely captivated Lexi and she was proud to be Luz's girlfriend. And she feels Luz's stare and brushes her hair back behind her ear with her free hand and smiled at Luz, blushing cutely.
"Mmm, I don't know. Since I happen to think that I'm with the prettiest girl here. And I wouldn't trade with anyone, either."
Everyone she'd met seemed nice and like she could be friends with them, but Luz Noceda was the most beautiful girl here and Lexi was lucky to call her her girlfriend.
no subject
"Amazing, right? But the thing that kills me is that she's so nice and sweet that you just HATE that queen even more for doing her best to kill her. Remember that whole thing with the hunter and the HEART in the box?! When you're a kid you don't think too much about it, but that's pretty messed up, right?"
Luz honestly couldn't help herself. She knew Lexi was stepping a little out of her zone to be here, and she appreciated it. What was more, seeing Lexi outside of them talking about the bookstore and just being around other people just made her all the more curious to know more about her. Add to that the natural beauty that Lexi was unaware of somehow and Luz probably was sure she looked like a blushing idiot.
"Huh. Pretty sure you've got that prettiest girl thing down, with the beauty and wit to match. Those are a killer combination, you know."
Luz was hopeless here, and dimly remembered something that Rose had mentioned when she first spoke with Jack.
Holy heck! It DID happen for me!
(CW: slavery)
"Yeah, that freaked me out even as a kid. What kind of lunatic not only thinks about that, but asks for it, like it's some kind of errand to be ran and not the death of a teenage girl. And just plain using her as a slave in her own home, that's sick. It's so good that she's safe--well, relatively safe--here and not back home. Because even with the dwarfs, she still had to do all of the cooking and cleaning. That's a lot to ask from someone they just met."
She was. She was a little nervous that Luz's friends wouldn't like her and then everything would be over. And she wasn't sure if she could deal with that kind of heartbreak. So, she was braving the crowd and trying to be herself, hoping that would be enough to make people like her. Luz was just so warm and friendly, it made perfect sense to Lexi that she'd have loads of friends Lexi had yet to meet. But having Luz's hand in hers made everything seem easier.
"I hadn't known that. But I'm so glad you were paying attention. Very glad." And she gave Luz's hand a squeeze.
And Lexi is so glad it did.
Re: (CW: slavery)
"Exactly. And Snow still tries to insist that she's fine, that she hasn't internalized any trauma. You just start to feel really bad for her in that way. She really doesn't deserve that, and you know that the longer you're around her."
She did seem to love the whole cooking and cleaning part though. That Luz had no answer for.
Luz was just as willing to make sure everyone knew that she wanted Lexi included, even being a little clingy toward Lexi if she needed to be to make her feel comfortable. Holding Lexi's hand? Just part of the sweetening of the deal!
"Of course I did! You had my attention when we first talked, did you know that? I don't think anyone's that so quickly except for a few people. But it was different with you. I was always really excited to talk to you that I couldn't explain."
She cleared her throat. "I can explain it now though. I had, and still have, a huge crush on you."
no subject
"It would be really hard to not internalize trauma. Of course, it would also be really hard to admit to doing it if you've been smiling and making the best of things your whole life. It's times like this I wish we had an actual psychologist and not just. You know. Ordinary people trying to understand and resolve extraordinary problems."
Cooking, Lexi would understand. Cleaning, never. Despite the fact that she did the bulk of it back home.
And Lexi couldn't help but be proud to be at Luz's side, so proud she was sure she was in danger of bursting, so proud it had to be obvious just by looking at her. All of these amazing people here and Luz chose her? Amazing! Amazing beyond belief. And she'll gladly hold Luz's hand anywhere she likes.
[shyly] "...really? I, well...I felt. I feel the same way. No one's ever really clicked with me the way you do. And before I even realized what was going on, you'd become such an important part of my life. From there, I fell for you. How could I not?"
[and Lexi beams at her] "I hope to always make you feel that way. Cherished, treasured, admired...because I had and still have an enormous crush on you."
no subject
"I know there was a girl named Sakura who was trying to get something like psychiatry going, but I'm not sure how that panned out. In any case, I think Snow really needs someone to gently tell her that its ok to feel a little selfish about some things, that she really should have been treated better than she was. Good people are sometimes very bad at realizing how much better they could have it."
Even Luz was not exempt from that. Also, yes, cleaning was a pain.
Luz was still in shock that she and Lexi were dating. She couldn't recall the last time she wanted something so much and actually got it, without a few various awful things happening to make her feel like she had to earn it. It was just slow and good and gentle, and Luz couldn't help smiling like an idiot thinking about how natural it all felt.
"I'm still processing everything, processing YOU. Like, how can this girl be into me? I feel like I've been here for years, kind of happy and kind of just living. You come and I just...I feel like I'm seeing color in a long time? Does that sound stupid?"
Luz ducked her head. "Augh, I'm usually good with words, but then I look at you and my brain turns into glue, and then you say you LIKE me, and I'm just. When am I going to wake up? Gorgeous girls with big brains talking to me? It sounds like a prank! But it's not. I'm still here, and so are YOU."
no subject
Sa-ku-ra. [she sounds the name out carefully] I can't say that I've met her before. She's a fully accredited psychologist, though? Granted, I've heard that a great many of the theories which held sway in my era have been disproved or worse. Like [quietly] penis envy. I never knew a single woman who wished she had a penis instead of what she was born with, not unless she was already unhappy with what she was born with.
Lexi was in shock as well, frequently blushing bright red as she squeezed Luz's hand. And it felt like a relationship which had started years ago, so comfortable Lexi was in it.
"No, it doesn't sound stupid at all. In fact, I'm still in shock that you're interested in me. That you could have any smart girl in all of Trench, but for some reason, you chose me. It's...a little heady. If that makes sense?"
"It's not a dream," Lexi said and leaned over into a quick kiss, still getting the depth of her feelings across. "And beautiful, strong, and talented girls talking to me? That sounds like as much of a dream."
no subject
Uh huh. I think she's...something else, but close to that, yeah. I wouldn't know about accredited theories though. I never dabbled in psychiatry in quite that way?
No, not that. If anything, I more want to BE them, being suave and cool and romantical, but I don't need, you know, the appendage. It's probably not THAT great.
[Look, it would be nice to pee in a bush and not have to wait on a long line, but other than that? She more favored the idea of being outside the binary.
Oh, the hand squeeze. Perfect]!
"Are you nuts? Me?! I just want someone I like, who was just themselves, funny, unpredictable, who I could talk to for hours. You're the one that is that for me!"
And the kiss was enough to give her dead brain again, and she just beamed at her.
"Y-you're all those things, you know. I'm just shocked that you wanted to talk to ME."
no subject
Huh. I wonder how it works if it's not, you know, standard therapy?
[she just didn't get the appeal. she was glad enough to be a girl and that was fine for her. but she knew a lot of people didn't feel that way and that was fine for them. basically, she tried to not judge what she didn't understand. which had worked pretty well so far? at least she hoped so.
well, give her a chance to be a sap in public and she's going to go far it]
Well, that's a coincidence 'cause you happen to be that person for me. I guess we're just going to have to be happy or something? You know, just because we can.
[now that she had a girlfriend, Lexi figured that she was into PDAs. for the record]
Why wouldn't I? You're smart, you're funny, you're fun to be around, even if it is over a screen, and I really count myself lucky that you were into me. But like I said, I guess we're just going to have to get used to being happy? I think we can do that. Don't you?
no subject
You'd have to ask her. This was a few months back, so I don't know how things wound up panning out there.
[Luz had grown to understand that gender and sexuality were built around constructs of normalcy and strict ideals that simply didn't work for a lot of the population. So Luz concluded that she'd be open to understanding and exploring what it meant for THEM. Everyone, after all, was different, and so was the idea of identity.
Please Lexi, be as cute as you wanted! Luz was sure not going to stop her]!
I don't mind being happy for a bit! There was a time where that was my default, after all!
[And she was hoping to have that be the case again].
I've gone without so long, I just sort of thought it wasn't going to happen for me. I didn't expect the one time I chose not to and be out and about I'd find someone who was that perfect? But that's Trench for you: you never know what's going to happen, or when you find someone amazing.
I'll certainly try!
no subject
Yeah. I'd feel weird coming out of nowhere to be like, so are you a board-certified therapist in your world? I mean, how do you even try to bring that up?
[Lexi figured that whatever made people happy, she'd back them up on. like Rue's girlfriend, Jules. whether she wanted to be ultra-femme or more androgynous, that was fine. and obviously Rue was attracted to Jules both ways. and maybe Jules would try out another fashion entirely somewhere down the line and who cared? they were high school kids. wasn't the point to be exploring sexuality and gender and figuring out who you wanted to be? and then trying something entirely new because you can?
she's going to be extra-special cute, just because!]
Yeah. You've had a rough month. I'm not gonna flatter myself by thinking I can make everything all better, but I'm there for you. No matter what. And you can trust me completely.
[because now everyone else fell into the category of Not Luz and therefore Not Attractive.
and Lexi drew in closer, using her free hand to lightly stroke Luz's arm] I know exactly how you feel. I never thought I was going to find someone special, at least not until college. But...you're so sweet and cute and you obviously care so much about the people around you. That's all really attractive to me. Especially the caring part. You're kinda amazing, you know?
Good. I'm really glad.
no subject
I wouldn't know. I do know that we need it though: too much happens around here, and most of the time we don't even try to deal with the things that happen to us in the best ways. We just sort of endure it.
[Luz was honestly all about that kind of exploration. She didn't have the words for it, but Luz tended to buck against the norm of traditional feminine dress because it honestly felt too restrictive! Luz was a girl that liked to experiment, and gendered clothing was certainly not going to pin her down when she could mix and match things just as she would colors on a canvas.
If that happened to look cute on her, all the better!
It's gotten better the moment I met you, actually. Honestly, you were the thing that made me remember there were still plenty of unexpected, nice things right along with the bad! So trust me, I'm not getting you go anytime soon!
I...[Luz was at a loss for words here, but not for action. She reached over and have her girlfriend a small kiss on the lips, reddening at her audacity and reveling in it all the same].
Y-you know, I really need to show some of my friends here the amazing girl I found. Before, you know, we go and make everyone sick of us!
[There weren't enough words to describe how happy Lexi was making Luz, but she hoped this gesture was enough].
(CW: PTSD)
Yeah. We're all going to wind up with PTSD if our own worlds didn't already cause it. That's what worries me, someone with more power than sense having the sense they had left manipulated by a monthly thing and then what?
[she was from a suburb of San Francisco, but East Highland was terribly old-fashioned. but she figured that everyone could be themselves, however their selves happened to be. Lexi tended to be pretty feminine in how she dressed and carried herself, but that was her. she wasn't going to judge anyone else.
and it did look good on Luz!]
O--okay. [Lexi sniffles] You're going to make me cry or something. And tears at a birthday party probably are frowned on, even though I know I'm going to cry, anyway. You can say--you mean--so much. You know that. Right?
[and Lexi kissed back shyly, blushing happily and brown eyes sparkling when she opened them]
Everyone can feel how they want. As long as I make you happy, that's what makes me happy.
[it was. little displays of affection in public were to be cherished, like specks of light and brightness in a dark room]
Re: (CW: PTSD)
I'm sure I have it already. Get me anywhere hear a cave, and you're going to see exactly what that looks like, honestly.
[Luz had already been more or less a misfit back home, so being one that dabbled in how she represented herself by gender had just been another notch in a list of long reasons not to be around her].
Oh no, don't cry! I don't want to do that to you! Besides, you're far too sweet to see in tears, you know that?
[Ugh, Luz liked her SO much. She couldn't help putting her hands in Lexi's, staring at her with warmth].
Oh, you do. I don't think I could fake this with anyone. People here have known me long enough to see that.
Re: (CW: PTSD)
Oh, no. No no no no no no. No caves. Not if they're gonna do that to you.
[Lexi had been a misfit, she'd never really cared about what was and wasn't cool and after talking to Rue and her dad the summer between 8th grade and Freshman year, she really couldn't bring herself to. but Luz could self-express herself as much as she wanted to, she wanted Luz to feel comfortable and confident]
--ohhh. Really?
[which does the risk of her dissolving in tears even more, squeezing Luz's hands tightly and staring at her tenderly]
I'm glad. I'm so glad. And I don't think I could feel this way with anyone else, either. I know I'm new, but I know that much.
Re: (CW: PTSD)
Yeah, sorry. I'm still working on that. It's a Deerington story, and like I said, I never died there, but what did happen got me awful close. I'm sort of working my way to talking to you fully about it.
[She might as well be honest there, because what happened to her and what she DID later would give Lexi insight to what exactly bad situations did to Luz at times. In this case, this was one of her very dark moments that she wished never had happened to her, so it would take a bit of courage.
But yes, Luz was a girl who thought things like gender norms were fluid like water]!
Yes! Even if you do look pretty, even with tears, I'm hoping not to do that to you!
[Oh gosh, she looked down, blushing pretty hard].
I'm still trying to get over how lucky I feel right now. I'm so glad that feeling is mutual.
H-how are you liking the party? Meet anyone interesting?
(CW: PTSD)
and she nodded, looking sad] Don't feel like you have to work on it because of me. I want you to feel comfortable about it on your own terms and I know trauma doesn't heal fast.
[when Lexi would find out, she'd be so upset on Luz's behalf. she'd heard that Deerington was rough, even rough when compared to Trench. but she wished Luz healing and strength. which she always did, but for this more than anything.
Lexi would get there. but in the meantime, she'd admire her cute significant other]
I know. I know you won't. Not on purpose.
[...socute. and Lexi ducked her head a little so they made eye contact, Lexi's brown eyes like melted dark chocolate]
It is. It's incredibly mutual, more so that I can say.
I met the birthday girl! She's really nice, I can see why you're friends with her.
Re: (CW: PTSD)
I'll tell you in due time, I promise. It's just a very, uh, rough story, and I have to admit that I don't exactly come out smelling roses in the end of it.
[Luz had healed, and she was strong, but there were some things even she was not proud of, and just hope that Lexi would understand. She LIKED being Lexi's cute girlfriend, and was scared that she might reveal something that would make her seem far removed from that].
Definitely not! And...oof. Eyes. Sorry!
[Luz was still getting use to Lexi's gaze. It was so intense]!
Oh, Ochako is great! I have to introduce her to you...and wish her good luck for herself!
(CW: PTSD)
...mm. Chances are, we all have one of those stories. Or we will, either from here or from home. Not--not like to be dismissive, more like...yeah. I'm not going to press you on it. That's really unfair.
[the first draft of her play probably should be entirely rewritten. time away has made her annoyance with Cassie die down and be replaced by concern. she had no idea what was going on with her and was kind of afraid to find out]
Sorry? [playfully] Sorry for what?
I'd like that a lot. It would be really rude to go to a birthday party and not wish the person having the birthday a happy one. [and she winks]
