they seem under control, for the time being. only herding. he's quiet to allow the young woman to work. hen she questions him, his omen speaks for him: it's the voice of a woman, serene and mature. ]
I— No . . . I'm sorry. They've just showed up not too long ago. [ —but he could be resourceful. ] I can try and make something, Miss?
no subject
Thank you, but I think you'd do better to save whatever you find to build an enclosure.
[she turns her head towards her own omen.]
Winter?
[he rises into the air with a grumbling sort of clacking noise.]
Will you fetch a cart from the sanctuary, please?
['Yes, of course, whyever not,' he says sarcastically, but he wings off in the direction of crenshaw. sansa turns towards the birds and smiles again.]
Don't worry. Lady and Vhagar won't let anything happen to them. Do you have a place to keep them, at the moment? I'm sure we could make them a little chicken coop at Trenchwood Farms–and a henhouse too, unless you have other plans.
[she will do her best to find shelter for these chickens, either way! a little more than five minutes later, a white raven the size of a grizzly bear comes swooping down the beach with a sort of raised wooden pushcart. he sets it down and shrinks back to a normal raven size, pleased.]
no subject
I, um, [ he hesitates with his words. she was kind to offer, and trenchwood farms would probably be great for them, but— they were his pets. his friends. he wanted to be close enough to care for and see them each day. ] I'm staying by the cave, for now, but I wanted to make the coop at home, Miss . . . Thank you.
[ from the distance he's at, he's fondly looking down at them, so tempted to touch them. he'll just have to be patient. ]
It's been so long since I've seen them.
no subject
Of course. We can take them anywhere you like, and we could certainly help you put fencing in the cave.
[sansa glances down at the chickens...really taking in their floppy little crowns for the first time...she wonders if the chicks will have to be warged for their journey into the cart.]
I'm very glad you're back together. Would it be all right if I started putting them in the cart?
no subject
they're waterlogged, clucking and peeping. ]
It's . . . Not exactly safe for them to be here. [ he acknowledges that. he doesn't want to be that selfish, either. look at them, puffing and shivering to keep the heat in. ] But I can't leave. I don't know when I will.
no subject
There would be room for you at Trenchwood Farms, but we can make it very safe in the cave. Vhagar could even stay with them, until we can build a henhouse.
[she might ask wanda...or surely someone at the sanctuary could be borrowed for this purpose.]
I think they might be warmer inside the cart. They wouldn't be able to wander away from each other.
no subject
they were so cute, with their little wigs. ]
I’d just worry about drawing attention to get there . . .
[ but they at least have a short little fix to work with, in the meantime. ]
But this is a lot of help already— Thank you, Miss.
no subject
We'll help you to get wherever you choose to go.
[she steps forward, towards the cluster of chickens.]
I'm going to perform a jutsu Lady Sakura taught me on the chickens, to keep them from panicking. It's meant for healing, and it will stop them running off. Is that all right?
[sansa gathers her chakra around her. vhagar quits her circling to nose at falco in a friendly manner, tail wagging.]
no subject
Yes.. [ and this possibly the silliest request out of all of them, but after chewing on his hiding lips and simply watching the hound give him attention. ] Can I pet him? I’ll— be really careful.
[ it’s so boyish in a thing that’s so big. ]
no subject
Vhagar? Of course. She's a hellhound, you won't hurt her.
[sansa has an idea that this creature is fairly young for his kind, but not that he is in fact a transformed human. she performs a complicated hand gesture and aims her chakra at the chickens, they settle down and lady backs away. sansa commences scooping the chickens into the cart while vhagar plays with falco.]
no subject
Oh— she! Ah, [ with the blunt curve of his talon, he hovers it close to her head, featherlight in his attempt at pressure control. ] Hello. They’re really nice, Miss.
[ the canines he’s grown accustomed to from home weren’t exactly trained to be friendly. ]
no subject
Yes, they're very good girls. Your chickens are doing very well, too.
[winter gently scoops the last few chicks into the cart, and sansa commences with the hens. lady keeps a stern eye on the rooster, but he seems no more agitated than the others.]
They must be very good layers, to have so many little chicks. Perhaps your omen could be persuaded to collect the eggs for you.
[the hens quietly envelop the chicks. sansa places soggy catherine in the cart and evaluates whether she needs to perform the jutsu on the rooster again.]
no subject
actually amazing. ]
Perle might like that . . . I was giving eggs away back then, too. They'd lay so many. [ it's an absent thought that he considers. perle herself has glided down to the edge of the cart to observe the hens— and puffs her feathers with thrilled satisfaction. she would indeed like that. now came the most important of all of this: ] Miss . . . Thank you.
no subject
We're very glad to help. Where would you like to take them? We can bring you down some feed, once they're settled, and I can see if there's anyone at the Sanctuary who could come and build a little fence.
[they can stay in the cart, in the meantime. she can place an order for chicken feed with the sanctuary's suppliers, but she'll have to see if any can be found in the city until it comes...or if they can eat the birdseed she leaves for the ravens. her omen winter settles on her shoulder, watching the chickens. lady thoughtfully moves away from the cart and its rooster.]
no subject
I can make one, with the right material. [ there's no need to bother people when he had the skill set . . . and size, and strength, and built-in tools to make something temporary. ] What should I call you by?
no subject
You may call me Alayne. Are you called Falco?
[it sounds like it could be a name from her world.]
I can see if I can find some of the wire fencing they have at the farm, and I'll bring it with the feed.
Is there anything else you would like me to bring?
["With what cart?" winter attempts to murmur.
sansa shoots him a brief look.]
no subject
he does bring his talons up to gesture. ]
N—No, Miss Alayne, please. This is already more than enough.
[ he'd feel worse, if there was more done. ]
no subject
All right. Would you like me to take them to the cave?
no subject
If they're calm, now, I can do it. Easily. [ look at his size. he can fit the cart in a single hand. falco prepares to do just that, gently getting a good grip on the cart and lifting it, slowly, to press close to his chest. maybe under his wing would feel safer, too. ] I'll walk slowly.
no subject
If you have any trouble at all, I should be very glad to come back. Lady will bring you your things once I've found them.
[she will warg lady to do this, it's easier than going to the caves in human form.]
You might return the cart to the Sanctuary when you're done with it, or we could come pick it up, if it's easier.
[she wouldn't like the chickens left alone in the cave...she pauses, considering.]
If you're planning on moving the chickens again, you might keep it until you're done.
[there are other carts...probably...she might be able to get another one in willful machine...]
think we can start wrapping up!
I’ll have it back as soon as I can, Miss Alayne. Thank you, again.
[ he’s off to set them up— carefully waddling his way back to the rocks. he crawls easily enough with one arm wing whilst the other is secured. he’ll be ever grateful for her aid, and on top of that . . .
he’s just so glad to see them. ]
yes!
