"cute by psycho" bunny. (and s'all good. not like i got white hair icons yet...)
[not quite. dabi silently wonders just how far gone she already is. he's certainly not going to be helping her with any sort of detoxing to remove that corruption, and his method of "helping" someone with their beasthood is a flaming plunge straight into a watery grave. there's none of that sanctimonious sanctuary peaceful bullshit in this black-hearted monster. so he's curious... push her too far and he'll have a beast on his hands. powerful as he is, even dabi's not fond of facing off against sleeper-made beasts, particularly since they can augment the sleeper's world-based powers. he might not think highly of uravity, but he's aware of just how dangerous her quirk can be. hm... might have to play this one on the wire's edge.
sounds fun. let's see how what happens to sweet little floater girl when she has one bad day~
his eyes light slightly, catching onto her response when he mentions that vague insult. usually shit-talking a hero, particularly younger ones, about their friends is a good way to get a reaction. so tossing that out there had merely been bait. now it's got a bite. directed at him, or the person above her, he's not sure, but... dabi's a crazy bastard. moving forward, one hand in his pocket, the other drifting beside him along his leg, he approaches her, eyes lidded and a lazy smile on his face as he watches the struggle. typical hero. trying to push through the wires that bind them so tightly to their morals.]
Yeah ya can. [his voice is calm, soothing.] Ya ain't that weak.
[coming to a stop beside her, he looks up at the man floating ahead, occasionally glancing towards her hands that are moving so close together. toga told him about her powers more intimately than a few video scans displayed.]
I think I know this guy... He's a thief. Likes to overcharge people who don't look like they got enough as it is. You heroes are supposed to stop crooks and criminals, right? Then how about this monster? Saw some mom who barely had the money for her two kids' meals. Shows up at this guy's place, and what's he do? Charges her twice as much for one meal. So she's gotta decide which of her kids has to go hungry. Maybe she'll sacrifice her own meal for her other kid... Cry herself to sleep at night pretendin she ain't hungry. While this fat pig's back home eatin twice his share. Her share.
[dabi glances at her from the side, firelight gleaming on his stapled cheeks.]
What's that sayin? The higher ya are, the harder ya fall.
eyup, she's the cursed plushie (it's fine, he just rolled around in the dirt again).
---
[Dabi is smart, Ochako will give him that if she were in her right mind. Dealing with whatever Beast she may become, especially one with a certain level of control over her quirk...it'd be unwise to deal with that in close proximity. And if it mutated her quirk on top of everything else, removing the need for touch to activate... He's playing it smart by only enticing her within reason - Beasts don't tend to have the capability to differentiate between friend, foe, or anything in between. Meat is meat.
It's impressive though, Ochako's control. There's real effort being put in to keep her fingertips from touching together, sharpened teeth cutting into her lips and allowing a thing trickle of blood as she sets her jaw and growls. Growls as he comes closer, because there's a fragment of her that is still in there, that is still fighting hard. That tiny piece that can still see the true villain in front of her right now...who she'd love to rake her claws into, drag down his scarred up, blackened body, then fling him and his innards so far out to space, and--ugh...fuck...no!
Ochako stumbles forward, her hands falling onto the ground to catch herself, clawed fingers digging into the gravel and making dust and tiny pebbles start to float, but it's better than trying to force her hands apart. At least now, she's ground enough that she can breathe a little, try to get away, run, call for help...something. Being here's not smart, not when she's like this. Deku was right all along, it's better to just isolate when you're losing yourself to the Corruption, to the Evil.
When he gets close, right next to her, Ochako's head turns away from him, and her body follows, leaning away almost like a cat would when it's not wanting to be touched, or pet. But her pupils dilate into thin slits, and her body goes stiff for a half second before she paws at his arm and hisses through those sharp teeth.]
That...true?
[Seems something about a poor mother, having to fend for her children, not having enough...giving up her own meals so the little ones can eat...that resonates with the young Hero. Does he know? He wouldn't, unless he dug deep into her records, but Ochako's actually been through something similar to his story before, all her life. She's a poor girl, having had to go without proper meals for most of her life, her parents working themselves to the bone to provide for her. How many times has a young Ochako seen her mother and father stressed, tired, and barely eating a thing while she had the largest portion?
Her eyes are so wide, the pupil practically lost to the milky white as they slide up towards the poor idiot still hovering, kicking and flailing as if trying to fly his way in any direction. He's screaming and cursing, accusing Dabi of "lying through his ass" and other profanities, but she's watching him like how a lioness would a particularly nice looking carcass, his words buzzing like nothing but static. There's fury in those eyes, a deep hatred that's unmistakable as she slowly rises again.
Her eyes don't leave that wriggling worm for a second.]
a furby gone bad. (i just say he dyes it when he feels like it. prolly with squid ink...)
uravity? no issue. beast gravity girl? no thanks.
she's really resisting it though, isn't she. fighting for control like this indicates she's still insides, attempting to stop the monster she's becoming from following through on those threats. that's both a positive and a negative. on the positive side, it's far more entertaining to know this hero's getting a front-row seat to her own first murder. on the negative side, it means she'll be more easily able to distance herself in the resulting guilt. hard to take the blame for something personally when you're well aware your reason and body got hijacked by an outside influence... that said, other people won't see inside.
the film's going to be interesting...
dabi takes a risk getting close to someone who obviously is both going feral and not wanting to be near to him. yet it's more important right now to try and bait her into making that kill. the ramifications of it later and the one-up-on-you advantage aren't worth letting the opportunity go. so he lingers nearby, leaning to the side slightly when ochako bats at his arm. minding those claws, he'd rather not get scratched up a whole lot, thanks. he's got stamina, not exactly physical resistance.]
Uh-huh. Saw it myself. I could even take ya to her house... but that was two months ago; she might've starved to death by now.
[for her sake, no he doesn't know her past in detail. he simply knows information the plf looked up during reconnaissance and compiled together regarding the u.a. students that had been pains in their proverbial sides. toga might know more, since she's key to infiltration and would need to study up on people's lives she wanted to impersonate. dabi at best knows ochako's not from a wealthy, or even middle-class, family. but... he's also shrewd enough to know children, motherhood, and starvation usually pull at heroes' heartstrings. worth taking a stab at.]
Usually the more angrily someone denies something, the more likely it is they're guilty of it.
[he slips his hands into his pockets, standing beside her as he watches the man in the air. waiting and occasionally glancing as she rises to her feet once more. dabi could push her further, but at this point, he's also balancing on the edges of a lie and has no intention of trying to gain more ground, which she might be able to call bullshit on.]
cw: violence/murder, gore, NPC death by hanging
Too bad that all those changes and her growth don't mean anything in a place like this. For as tenacious as she is, as resilient and stubborn in her fighting, there's no point. That resolve is burning away with Dabi's words, and The Evil that's wrapped around her like a shroud is hard to beat back. She gave a good effort, but in the end, it's just not enough for the spells Trench and its patron deities weave. Though once that spell ends, she's going to definitely feel the guilt and the remorse, that's for damn sure. Dabi and his videos won't help in the slightest, but she'll have to fall back on being strong-willed and enduring. Not taking his horseshit and moving on as best she can, with the support of those around her. Easier said than done, but...that's the plan, anyway.
For right now, however, it's going south fast, her growling s getting louder and deeper the more she listens and let's that blazing fury sear at the edges of her reason. The man is screaming his protests, saying he has no idea what the hell Dabi is talking about, that he's lying through his teeth, and all he did was try to steal food and trade good, like anyone else down on their luck would, but Ochako takes what Dabi says to heart - it's true, after all...those who furiously deny something are usually guilty. And she has no tolerance right now for a guilty party. Her resolve finally snaps the moment that the floating man starts spewing threats and profanities at Dabi, that whatever happens to him, he'll come back and make sure to, uh...do some pretty nasty stuff to him. Peeling off what remains of his skin like an orange is just one of the many things...]
St...op... [It's a slurred out breath, more like a hiss of words, and Ochako hunches low having finally lost her internal fight with the corruption and the Evil inside. She roars, all teeth and claw, pupils small specks of black against milky white.] I'M GOING TO STOP YOU FROM DOING ANYTHING ELSE!!
[And instead of dropping him to his death, Ochako does something far, far worse. She aims her bracer at the man and fires a wire at him, the sturdy line wrapping about his neck again like a noose and curling tight. The man's voice stops, eyes wide and tears jumping to his eyes, fingers scrambling to try and remove the thing that will inevitably mean his death. But it's not enough, because Ochako pulls on the line with all her might, and the force and speed of the motion causes a strangled sound from the poor man before his neck inevitably snaps. He's dead before he hits the ground, but the impact does indeed do even more damage. Bones split, blood spews from his mouth and nose, and the back of his skull probably caved in, too...given the increasing mess surround the mangled corpse.]

still filming, of course. but even now, dabi finds himself wondering what exactly he plans to do with the film. considering the community of trench and the general awareness of these events in everyone's view, it's no stretch to assume the populace, and most of the sleepers, will know this girl was in the thralls of some sort of manipulative influence when she committed these actions. painting her as a villain would be a futile endeavor. so perhaps not that... maybe it'll be a blatant reminder that she, and every hero, like all villains, are capable of committing villainy, when pushed or pulled far enough. or if that's not going to hold much water, it'll simply be fun to show her a video of her hanging a man by the throat and potentially splattering him all over the ground. even if she's not in control right now, it's an image she's gonna struggle to deal with once it's in her brain.
amazing this guy can still manage to scream with that cord about his throat. dabi doesn't even feel the need to argue the point, having already tossed a lance through the man's protests. the louder they are, the more likely they're guilty. someone who could remain calm and collected would likely be easier to convince someone of their innocence even if they were guilty, compared to someone screaming insults and tossing all the cliche protests and claims into the air. he's pretty sure this girl's heard plenty of those things in her heroics. question is, when's a hero to judge? do they capture and turn a blind ear, or do they listen and end up conflicted over executing the law or showing human decency? not that this man is showing much of the latter. see? told ya he tried to steal food. right there, straight from the culprit's mouth.
ooo, that insult's particularly nasty. if this man did come back, he might have to watch himself. sarcasm. dabi merely gives the man a lazy smirk and lifts his hand to flick him off once more. it's all over for this innocent soul. or at least he's innocent of the crime dabi just placed on his head. either way...] Ja ne, baka.
[how very heroic of her. but instead of dropping the man to splatter all over the ground, the girl opts to give him an aerial lynching. a black brow arches into his spiky bangs, head tilting back to get a better view as a light surprise, but still entertained, expression shows up on his face. one good yank and there's that wet 'snap' and telltale gurgling of a broken neck. reminds him of the time he broke someone's neck underfoot... hadn't burned them enough apparently. and down he comes, probably dead before he hits the ground, but dabi's unable to tell at that speed. he turns his head to the side slightly, eyes still pointing out the lower parts of his eyelids to watch, the version merely to avoid getting too much blood all over his face. it's quite the squelch and bust. bones, blood, and mess everywhere.
ya know... he could be nice and burn the remains up... nah. let it stay and stain the ground for someone to find later.]
Congratulations. Ya just saved a family, hero.

[Dabi certainly will have an entertaining video to show her later, even if Ochako will know she wasn't really herself when she did what she did. It still will haunt her for a very, very long time because it's as Dabi thinks - despite the influence, she still has the capacity and ability to hurt, to maim, to kill. It exists in every Hero, every person, and only needs a trigger to set it off. That sort of haunting realization will most definitely rattle her for a good, long while, and the reminder will most certainly upset her. Perfect ammo to pass time, considering Dabi tends to enjoy not only poking the beehive, but dousing it in gasoline and lighting it up.
Trenchies don't come back is the thing, so this man's story has permanently closed - yet another thing Dabi can lord over her if he so wishes. The deed is done and though there are a few stray twitches and jerks as his muscles spasm with the last few jolts of his brain before it finally shuts down and his life is truly extinguished for good. Thankfully (to some's perspective, anyway), that blood splattered from his nose and mouth, covering his face in grizzly red, because the face - or what's left of it from the impact - most certainly isn't a pleasant one. Nor is the wet, slippery shlorp sound of the wire retracting from around the man's neck and snapping back into place inside Ochako's bracer.
She doesn't even look back, doesn't acknowledge the bodies - alive and dead - and just turns away from it, taking a heavy and uneasy step away. Maybe to keep on this path, maybe to get away from the literal crime scene, who knows. There's nothing but the shadow of the fledgling Hero now, the only possible remorse for what she's done coming in the crimson streaks running down her eyes.
Saved...yes. She's a Hero. A Hero...who...wh-who saves...]

what fun is there in poking the beehive when he can set fire to the entire thing and destroy them all?
yeah, he's aware that only sleepers come back. does it weigh on his mind that this man won't be returning from the sea? not a second. his only purpose now is to be murdered by a hero and left lying in an oozing mess of his own spewed body. broken and crushed on the ground with bits of skull flecking the floor as the gray matter starts to leak from the back of his skull, impact pulverized it enough to turn the back section into liquidized mush. his head twists unnaturally as the wire slides off from around his neck, causing his head to roll and wobble on the ground. nah, he won't be nice enough to burn this one. let it lie here. a testament to what ochako's quirk is capable of.
mmm, she might want to consider cleaning that wire, less it gunk up the inside of her bracer... something for her to do later. once she's back to her old self and has to deal with dragging out the splattered, gory length of wire from her costume. then get inside it with tweezers and gauze to clean out the blood and gore.
dabi leans forward, leading with his body to follow her. long legs carry him to her side, turquoise eyes glancing to her face. crimson tears, huh... probably something from the corruption. he could stay with her, lead her to another person, coax her into another kill. but the villain's not got this far for being a reckless idiot. she's potentially close to beasthood right now. best to leave her to rampage on her own and occasionally check in.]
Enjoy ya first blood, kid. Now ya ain't any fuckin better than the rest of us. Just as dirty.
[two flings of his hands and blue fire pours out on either side of him, blasting over a few of the remaining living people struggling to drag themselves away. letting them light uraraka's path as she walks away amid the glowing blue human torches. dabi backs off, letting the smoke wrap around him.]
See ya round, villain.
[and fades out into the clouds and debris.]
