[ After making sure D's little squid body was in the fountain, Nico tracked where the soul went. Some food, a drink, a hole in the ground, and some Greek chanting calls the soul back to him in ghost form in order to gain some information. A lot of it was hard to follow, but he did glean a couple of things that he didn't know before.

Nico had missed the dhampir's return, probably for the best if he comes back naked. Returning to the coffin to find the squid gone and the man back, he moves to speak to D. ]

Welcome back, again. Everything good?

[D feels a little strange in his body once he's himself again and not a squid. Oddly stiff, like his arms and legs should bend in places he knows they shouldn't but his body still expects.

And he has to consciously turn his head and neck instead of just his whole body, but he's adjusting quickly and is dressed once again by the time Nico returns.]

[It's not entirely good but D isn't going to say that.]

It felt different than being dead usually feels.

[ His gaze takes in everything, somewhat making sure that all the arms, legs, and hands were where they were supposed to be. It'd be pretty bad if summoning D's ghost had messed something up.

Nico tucks his hands into his coat pockets. ]

I summoned your ghost pretty much right after. It worked.

I'm not sure there's a word for it in any language I know.

Louder? Less gentle, maybe. I felt that pull, it was strange.

[There's not much D can compare it to.]

Hm, like a rapid river versus a calm one?

[ Water seems like a good way of putting it, since their rebirth involves the ocean. ]

I think that might be where we enter the world. Or at least it's where we reincarnate from.

Yeah, most likely at least reincarnate from. I'd have to know someone pretty well to pick up on their soul when they enter this world.

[ Since no one from home has come, that's not possible for him to figure out yet. ]

[ Once visitors are allowed, Nico is going to sit with Viktor to be company. He brought something small to tinker with, nothing that would hinder his recovery, but something he could do with his hands. After he's settled in a seat next to the bed, the fidget items handed over, Nico looks at Viktor. ]

The death aura around you is better. [ Just going to be straightforward about it. ] Your natural life expectancy is longer.

[ Yeah, he can sense that kind of thing. It doesn't account for unexpected things like murder or accidents, but there it is. ]
