There is shame in your other boyfriend being so distracted by some moss on the ground that he forgets he promised to cook you food when you get home. How can someone care about moss when he, their beautiful angel boyfriend, is right there and hungry?
A bad boyfriend, that's who. On serious review from the Bone Lesbian Squad. Which is the shirt that Kaworu has. It's the shirt of Terrible Boyfriend(TM) who has not even noticed that his shirt has been stolen.
So instead, Kaworu sulks his way back home. Hands in his pockets, walking deliberately slow to make it clear how unfairly put out he's been over the whole thing. It would be nice if someone took notice so he could explain how cruelly he's been treated but he encounters someone and the immediate response is anything but.
"Me? You're in my way!"

"I am not," she says, scornfully, drawing herself up to her full height, setting them about eye to eye, which is another irritation. "I am trying to get past you. So move."
She has endured enough already today without giving way to some curious brat.

There's no reason to be rude. But Kaworu doesn't need a reason to be rude. Or as he would call it "just telling it like it is" and deny all accusations of rudeness.
"Just step aside."
A challenge. Essentially.

“I will not be spoken to this way,” a third time today, “You step aside, brat - or you will learn a sharp lesson in respect for your elders.”
She is painfully and acutely aware of the pathetic mess this is already, challenging some awful little creature in a dirty alley in yesterday’s rumpled clothes with the tang of sour spit in her mouth, but to concede would be worse.

And... he actually does seem to believe this. There's no snark or sass to his voice even if he clearly finds this whole conversation unpleasant or at the very least annoying. He crosses his arms.
"I'm not a brat nor do I think elders deserve respect just because they're old."

She shakes her head, a cascade of peculiar pale hair tumbling around her face, and she huffs and sweeps at it in a cloud of persistent annoyance.
"What do you even want back there? There's absolutely nothing interesting, I can tell you that."

Then he crosses his arms. There is some joy in getting to be more defiant than he was ever allowed to be with Keel and SEELE. This helps because it makes his posture turn from defiant to offended.
"My home is that way."

As with the acid she flung at the Beast, for instance, which seems to have only impressed this boy to vomitousness.
"And of course you live there." May whatever once was God preserve her. Woe pinches the bridge of her nose and emits a high, strangled hiss, like a kinked hose. "Then move aside, and I will pass, and you'll be welcome to peel that awful man off the wall, for all I care - which is not at all!"

What does she mean Of course you live there? Plenty of people live over there. How does she knows he lives there other than he's going that direction? There's other things over there.
Except... a horrible man. And there is one man that Kaworu thinks about when someone says "horrible" in a high, screechy tone.
"Johnny Lawrence? You spent the night with... that old washed up drunk!"
The angel cries like the thought makes him want to vomit in front of her.
Again.

It's not the most convincing lie, with her in this condition, and the man in question sure to not keep his mouth shut for any length of time. She balls herself up like a quivering fist anyway, tossing back her tangled hair and glaring at him in furious rebuke.
"We - conversed - over a matter of none of your concern, and I will thank you not to make aspersions!!"

Which is to say, he doesn't believe her. He has come around on Johnny. A bit, mostly for Paul's sake, until Johnny inevitably does something to sour his view again. And even then... to actually want to have sex with him?
Gross!
"Lady, you need standards."

That tears it, absolutely. Without further ado, she stiffens her upper lip and makes to barrel past the demonic infant and his profound misunderstanding of the entire situation, although she has, indeed, the restraint to not thank his ribs with a sharpish elbow for their troubles.
