"Yeah, obviously, like. Look, I grew up learning about war. How fucking terrible it is for everybody involved, how there's no such thing as a good war. Opa and Oma escaped the worst war that I think anyone in Europe had ever seen," she said, and even she could tell that she was getting a little heavy now. She needed to pull it back—unless, briefly flickered a thought, Remnant somehow also knew about WWII.
"I've seen the places where these battles happened and the... horrible, godawful things that people did to each other in the war. I don't want that for anyone." But she'd shoulder the burden if she had to. She exhaled. "So maybe your ideal life isn't a picket fence. Maybe it's stealing shit and getting away with it and having a blast the whole time. Anything is better than forcing people to live through war."
And another moment to loll her head over to one side. "I guess I got on a soapbox for a bit, huh."
