12 . (player plot) the academy expedition

Who: Those who are joining Ozpin's expedition! Network post here, or handwave an invite. OPEN to all.
What: A dungeon crawl with optional dice rolls.
When: Throughout October. You can state when your character goes, or keep it vague.
Where: The forest past the eastern edge of Prufrock.

THE BASICS

At the easternmost edge of Prufrock is a stone fortress, abandoned and overgrown. This place was once a shelter for Hunters in times of rampant Beasthood: it is highly defensible and hewn from the same pale stone as the Gate. These days, it's fallen into disrepair, overrun with monsters and choked by hostile plant life.

If the road can be cleared, the monsters evicted, and the damage repaired, this place could become the site of Ozpin's new combat academy and hub for Hunters. That's why he's sending you in.

These prompts will span September 30 - October 30, 2022. Many different groups can tackle the same hazards until the danger is fully cleared out.

HOW TO PLAY

This part is optional. You can always ignore the rolls and just use the log like a normal log.

Each character gets three stats:

• Might (ability to withstand physical damage)
  
• Speed (ability to dodge hazards)
  
• Stability (ability to resist Corruption)

• If your character is average in a stat, +0.
  
• If they're very skilled, +2.
  
• If they're godlike at it, +4.
  
• If they suck at something, -2.
  
• If you're just being mean, -4.

At each step of the quest is a prompt with dice challenges. You roll a d20, add your character's stat bonus, then use your total to fail or succeed at the task.

[ Waver stumbles, and Ozpin lurches forward, all reflex. This does not get either of them very far: leaping to his feet on the wet rocks only means that Ozpin has to catch himself on the same precarious rocks, and now the two of them are crouched awkwardly a few paces from each other with dark water lapping at their feet. Ozpin lowers himself gingerly down again. ]

I needn't remind you to be careful... we don't know what may be down there, lurking in these depths.

[He cast a frustrated and dismayed glare at the murky depths before readjusting his bag. Gray, still safe along the shoreline, stood on alert and mewed at the two of them in a quiet alarm cry.

Let's just get you back to shore and clean up there. I've got some iodine tablets that I picked up in town to help purify what we use-- if we need it.
