Sometime around the beginning of October invitations would have started to be sent out to the various people in Trench Ange and Ruby know - announcing the two girls' wedding at the end of the month.

When the day itself comes, people will find the location - the newly rebuilt Clockhouse, which some of the invitees may have helped rebuild in the first place - tastefully decorated. Some of the house's stranger features have been covered up by decorations in red and gold, mostly taking on the shapes of roses and butterflies all over the place.

They're here to watch you do the ceremony and party. After the wedding part is over, they're not gonna be crowding around your table all night - they're gonna eat and dance.

[Not that they might not want to put in a good word at the reception, he guesses...but if they can't, they'll live!]

[ He doesn't quite know how Ange's story ends. He does know that she's been lonely and lost for a long time. That it was partly his fault for not returning from Rokkenjima, for being subject to the curse that destroyed most of his family. It's a complicated history, one that he doesn't know how to deal with just yet. There's no way out but through - and he follows that philosophy here. There's pain. But there's also healing.

It's the course of their lives.

One that has led them here. ]

I just wish I could've made it a little less painful.

[ He sniffles and backs off to wipe at his eyes. ]

But if you're happy now - if you'll be happy from now on - then it was all worth it.

[As Luz says this, she's not ignorant of the fact that he could have been much crueler to the people who'd been trying to burn Vyng alive].

I love that this is something a part of here! Leave it to Ruby to have fun testing feats of strength and accuracy at a wedding!

[He says this like an unambiguously good thing; he knows the attention was stressing her out.]

True! Though she is getting married, so there will be guaranteed attention no matter what she does.

It's kinda funny she's like that when I feel like Ruby's the opposite!

They balance each other out. I don't know a lot about all that romance stuff, but all the best couples I've known are kinda like that.

Scorpia giggles at their shenanigans. And then she clears her throat and composes herself for the next one.

"Right, right. Normal! Whatever that is, am I right?"

She gives a little chuckle at her own joke, while slinging her arm over Luz's shoulder and giving a simple grin for this picture.

[There is a little bit of a pout.]

You're no fun...

[But she gets it. And she likes the sound of the race honestly. With some effort. She manages to pull herself up into something that resembles a plank, then gets herself into a stance to prepare herself to run.]

I'll do it. I'll race the omen. To get to my wedding!

Why thank you! It means a lot.

[And she's not just saying that either. She trusts this new person completely.]

Oh- That's fair! But I insist you give this a try. You wont regret it.

[And despite that clear lack of unhappiness. Ruby is playfully grabbing for Echo's hand and pulling her toward the photobooth. RiP]

[Pout away, Ruby, but he got all dressed up and he's not in the mood to get roughed up. You'd kick his ass.]

All right - one sec... [While he summons up said omen. As always, the white lioness looks prim and collected, stretching herself out to prepare.] She's ready when you are.

Oh, don't say it like that.

[ Not the part about not wanting to see some of these people in their underwear.

That part is entirely right. Entirely on the nose.

No, it's the part that comes after it that has Ange lightly shaking her head. ]

That's just asking for trouble, saying something like 'no matter what happens.' It'll make Pthumerian crash through the roof or something. [ And just when they managed to rebuild the house too! ] I'm not sure if I can handle that right now.

[entreats]

[ Ange gets the intention of the message, really. Especially when Scorpia puts so much emphasis on that last part, looking at her like that.

But it's not that part her mind lingers on. Maybe it's just because she doesn't want to think too hard about it right now. She doesn't want to dive into her own nerves and ways to soothe them. Maybe it's easier for her to just get out of her head for a little bit, considering how much time she's been spending in there during the preparations for this day. ]

Someone you care about said that to you..? That your singing was bad?

[ Yes, that's obviously the part her mind gets stuck on.

Scorpia protection squad. ]

Why would they say something like that to you, even though you care about them? [ Look, Ange is a blunt girl. She gets being bluntly honest and all.

But there are lines you have to draw with that sort of thing - or at least, she thinks so. Ange tries to. ]

[ Ange huffs.

Nothing angry, though. If anything, she just sounds amused. ]

I'm glad the food is worth it. [ The joke, of course, being that apparently the food is being rated on a higher scale here than Ruby or Ange's company, despite it being their wedding..

Though, considering Ange is the master of underplaying things, she feels like the food is probably an easier reason to mention for some people. She gets it. ]

But.. yeah. Weddings sure are a lot. I guess it doesn't help that I don't have much experience with them. [ Not back in her own world - and even in Deerington and Trench she had only been able to attend one or two of them. ] So we decided to just screw it and do all of this in our own style.

[ Conventions be damned. It's not like Ange and Ruby really are sticklers for any rules in the first place. ]

I don't know everything about it myself, but I think you're right.

Also, you can be similar in a lot of ways and super different in others.

[It's sort of embarrassing, the way he relaxes at that explanation. Maybe, subconsciously, he'd been worried there was an unknown Galra floating around. Probably ridiculous of him. But it's also kind of cute - he can see Ruby being red, obviously. Ange being golden... yeah. Yeah, that's her.]

[Deep breaths, boy.]

Where is your person... can I ask that? [His own omen is rarely too far from him, but he's not sure if that's the creatures' default setting or not.]

[ Ange knew this was coming. Of course she did. The vows are a major part of a ceremony like this and all, and she did prepare herself for it, but.. apparently not enough, or maybe she was so focused on her own part in it that she didn't fully consider that - obviously - Ruby would have something to say as well.

Her head dips a little, like it's hard to continue to look at Ruby as the other continues to talk, even though Ange really wants to. It's just.. that all of this is a lot. These public expressions of fondness, and to this extent. And it means even more because of what the other girl says, and what Ange knows. Ruby isn't exactly a person of preparation, or being extremely profound all the time, and yet the girl is trying to be both of those things here all the same, somehow.

.. and managing it in her entirely own Ruby way.

Ange is pretty sure that the major sparkle her darkblood blush must be giving to her face is almost obscuring a full view of her face at this point, even as she manages to raise her gaze to meet Ruby's as the other gestures at the scroll. ]

You love all those things so much though. [ She manages to force out, her voice a little tight, her eyes a little glossy. Like Ange is struggling to not cry like an idiot.

It's hard.

She'll get her own vows out in a moment, okay, but just-- she first needs a moment to process this here. ]

"Oh, one where we're not making silly faces or trying to one up the other!"

Luz laughed, but then settled against Scorpia and gave a wide, happy smile.

"Ok, so here we go!"

[Scorpia gives a little weak laugh as she thinks back.]

W-well, uh, that's just the kind of person she is. Catra was my... my best friend back in the Horde. She just had this way of always speaking her mind - and I liked that about her! I liked how she never backed down from being herself. But that also involved her being kinda... not-nice and mean and such. She... cared about me in her own way! But she had her own mess of problems, and I guess I could... annoy her sometimes...

[She sighs and shakes her head.]

Look, it's a long story. Things did get a lot worse, and it got me to leave the Horde. But then she got better afterwards, and when she was here in the Deer places things were nicer... it's a whole thing. I do wonder if she'd like my singing now, but I've got no way to know.

And so she smiles as the picture is taken!

Oh, he is playing with Ruby and her axes.

[Baltus is now systematically having a go at destroying the pumpkin, having removed the lid from it in an almost dainty way so he can get some of his long snoot into it and start chewing it to bits. An ear perks in Shiro's direction, which does not make him look more like a dog. If anything now he looks like there is a horse somewhere in his ancestry.]

I can call him here, if you would like to speak to him. Or, does it trouble you, that I am here alone?

I have played with Minden before.

[And now we are just hanging out on the floor in formalwear in the middle of a busy wedding venue, as one does.]

One day, when Xerxes was still without his sight, Minden landed on his shoulder and Xerxes mistook him for Qrow. I did not say anything, so Minden was able to swindle him out of some lunch.

Oh, let me have a go on my own first. I want to see what I can manage half clueless.

[It is a good thing Break is like this with things like deadly weapons and not his horrifying blood magic that bows to his whims based on the strength of his belief, or we would all really be in trouble by now.

He is, of course, not at all conservative about throwing things, and in the past has done things like toss forks hard enough to embed them in trees with frightening accuracy, given that he was blind at the time. And also hanging upside down from a different tree. The axe being weighted so differently gives him an amusing challenge here. A little more fiddling tells him that the over-the-head stance he is seeing others use is ideal, but using both hands doesn't suit him at all, so he goes ahead and drops down to just the one. Some thought as to when the best time to let go in the downward swing will be, and then --

In his first attempt he is *aiming* to embed the axe blade first in the Mother Mercy dummy's chest. Instead he nails her right in the throat with the blunt side, which is probably also deeply satisfying to watch for those who hate her, though Break has very little context and is just apparently unbothered by dummies meant to look like specific people being set up as the subject of violence at a wedding party.]

Hm! Drat.

You never know how that's going to look, and sometimes it can bring fights, but? I think it's worth it.

[Just as she was sure, knowing how long Ruby and Ange had been together, that they were sure about marrying each other too. It was always a bit of a miracle to get married here, but Luz always wished well on the people who decided to do it anyway].
