Sometime around the beginning of October invitations would have started to be sent out to the various people in Trench Ange and Ruby know - announcing the two girls' wedding at the end of the month.

When the day itself comes, people will find the location - the newly rebuilt Clockhouse, which some of the invitees may have helped rebuild in the first place - tastefully decorated. Some of the house's stranger features have been covered up by decorations in red and gold, mostly taking on the shapes of roses and butterflies all over the place.

[ Ange gets the intention of the message, really. Especially when Scorpia puts so much emphasis on that last part, looking at her like that.

But it's not that part her mind lingers on. Maybe it's just because she doesn't want to think too hard about it right now. She doesn't want to dive into her own nerves and ways to soothe them. Maybe it's easier for her to just get out of her head for a little bit, considering how much time she's been spending in there during the preparations for this day. ]

Someone you care about said that to you..? That your singing was bad?

[ Yes, that's obviously the part her mind gets stuck on.

Scorpia protection squad. ]

Why would they say something like that to you, even though you care about them? [ Look, Ange is a blunt girl. She gets being bluntly honest and all.

But there are lines you have to draw with that sort of thing - or at least, she thinks so. Ange tries to. ]

[cuddlery]

[Scorpia gives a little weak laugh as she thinks back.]

W-well, uh, that's just the kind of person she is. Catra was my... my best friend back in the Horde. She just had this way of always speaking her mind - and I liked that about her! I liked how she never backed down from being herself. But that also involved her being kinda... not-nice and mean and such. She... cared about me in her own way! But she had her own mess of problems, and I guess I could... annoy her sometimes...

[She sighs and shakes her head.]

Look, it's a long story. Things did get a lot worse, and it got me to leave the Horde. But then she got better afterwards, and when she was here in the Deer places things were nicer... it's a whole thing. I do wonder if she'd like my singing now, but I've got no way to know.

[entreats]

[ Well, this sure puts their fight from a while ago into slightly more context. Even though that had mostly been driven by this place, rather than any actual logical reasons - but at the same time Ange can't help but wonder if Scorpia having been treated like that before may have had the tiniest hand to play in it.

Even if Scorpia seems to think of that friend kindly all the same. ]

.. well, I'm sure your singing isn't bad at all, Scorpia.

[ Please. Ange won't just allow people to say mean things about the other, okay! ]

You should never let crappy things other people tell you get you down.

[cuddlery]

[She accepts her assurances with a warm smile. It may have indeed factored into that past fight that she was reminded of Catra and her treatment - but that is something she's managed to move past for the most part. And she knows that Ange is different.]

Thanks. I like to think it's good too! And I hope you still think so, because I am going for that mic during the reception!

[Scorpia chuckles.]

And don't worry. I've learned my lessons. I'm open to criticism, but some things come down to a matter of preference. If someone doesn't like what I bring to the table, that's fine. As long as it's not hurting anyone, I'll keep doing it. Because I know I'm fantastic!

[ Talk about the very picture of self-confidence..!!

Not that Ange minds it. Not as long as it makes Scorpia happy. And she's in a good enough mood to go along with most things right now.. even with the nerves still playing up in the background. ]

Sorry that we didn't try to find some sort of karaoke set for the afterparty.

[ Sure, Trench probably doesn't have those, or at least not the modern versions Ange knows..

But maybe it's also for the better. Even if Scorpia may be able to sing, she doesn't want to think of certain other people getting their hands on that. ]

But I'm sure you'll be able to work it out somehow.

[ After all, if Scorpia wants something, she'll just go for it. ]

[cuddlery]

Oh yeah, that's okay with me. As long as there's a microphone, I'll make my own karaoke! [She assures her with a smile and punctuates that with a wink.]

But we should definitely do actual karaoke sometime, it'll be great! If you have any inclination to do so that is. [She says that gently, trying to make it clear that she has the choice.]

In any case, you're going to hear me singing today. You can look forward to that! [As well as looking forward to, y'know, the wedding itself.]

[ It's a bit of a softer thanks. Something about it - despite Ange's usual attitude - sounds very genuine. Because she sees what the other did there, being so gentle about the suggestion, showing that the other definitely listened to the stuff Ange said before.

And she appreciates it. Not to mention that she wants to show she listened to the other too, so.. ]

I'm not sure if I'm ever going to do it myself. [ Please. That's another level of terrifying entirely, thanks! But she makes sure the rejection isn't harsh on its edges, instead smiling as she offers a compromise: ] But I'd like to hear you sing.

[ Scorpia deserves as much. ]

Can I get any hints as to what kind of song you're going to sing? A slight spoiler?

[Scorpia nods along with her input.]

I would love to see you take part in it, but I will also respect your decision. I'll just have to show you how fun it is through my own singing! [Scorpia assures her with a smile.]

A hint, huh? Well it should be a no-brainer that the topic of the song? It's gonna be love. It'll be a celebration of what you and Ruby have together, and how special it is!

[entreats]

[ Scorpia singing a love song, huh. Doubtlessly a super sappy one, knowing the other.

It's the exact sort of thing Ange knows she will be super embarrassed by, but on the other hand, it's the kind embarrassment she can actually handle - as opposed to the sort of embarrassment she'd feel if she had to be the one going up on a stage and singing. She can get a little flustered by a friend, it's fine. Especially if it makes Scorpia happy. It's a delicate balancing act.

So rather than protesting, Ange just smiles at the other. ]

I'll be looking forward to it. [ A nod. ] Though.. you should probably go back now. You know, before all the good seats for the ceremony are taken.

[ And so Ange can still fuss with her hair and all for a few more moments until she'll have to go out there as well. ]

[cuddlery]

[She'll try not to embarrass her too much. Before, she might have tried pulling Ange on stage for the song! But now she knows to just serenade her and Ruby. And Ange's response is encouraging, Scorpia's smile growing warmer.]

Right. I should get moving along. And I don't want to take up too much of the blushing bride's time while she's getting ready! ...Althoooough, before I head out...

[She spreads out her arms for a hug.]

Just one for the road? It'll be your last pre-marriage hug!

[entreats]

[ There's the tiniest moment where Ange seems to consider it, but then she just smiles, rising to her feet. Not the easiest task, given her dress and how easy it is to accidentally trip over it, but she's doing her best! ]

Fine, fine. Just because I like you. [ It's clearly a gentle tease though, judging by Ange's facial expression, and the next moment she's already carefully moving over to hug Scorpia. ]

Don't hug too hard though, I don't want to mess up my look!

[ P-Please, Scorpia, she'll have to go out there soon, you know! ]

[cuddlery]

Of course! [A soft laugh.] I'll be careful with the lovely bride, absolutely! Here we go, I'm coming on in!

[With that, Scorpia envelopes Ange in a soft hug. She makes sure it's her sleeved arms that make contact, in order to make sure none of the pointy parts of her poke at the dress. And as she holds her, she sniffles while being overcome with emotion.]

You're getting maaaaarrriiiieeed!! I'm so happy for you!!

[ Oh gosh.

There come the waterlanders. ]

Oh, come on, Scorpia! [ It's not a grumpy protest though. Instead Ange actually seems to be laughing a little inside of the other's arms, only made more obvious by the vibrations that Scorpia probably feels coming from Ange's chest while they're pressed together like this. ] You have to save your tears for the actual ceremony!

[ .. or maybe she just has an unlimited source of them.

Ange wouldn't be surprised. Scorpia is a very special girl. ]

You're going to run out at this rate.

[cuddlery]

[The floodgates have been unleashed! Scorpia laughs a little at Ange's comment, sniffles and pulls back while trying to wipe at her tears.]

You're right! I can't waste them all before the big moment. [She produces a handkerchief and blows her nose.]

Gotta conserve them! Don't you worry Ange. I'll be bawling like a baby all the way! I- I should head out before I get even more emotional.

[entreats]

.. right. Make sure to get a good spot too, before they run out.

[ Not that Ange imagines the ceremony will be that crowded, but.. well, it can't hurt to make a light joke like that, right? To keep not just Scorpia, but herself as well from getting too emotional here.

Or else Ange is going to look like a mess while she walks towards Ruby later. ]

[cuddlery]

Right. That too! I'll see you again soon, Ange!

[Her eyes glimmer with tears.]

A-as a happy newlywed! ...Okay, okay, I'm going now. Farewell, you beautiful blushing bride, you! [And with that, she rushes off!]
