(mostly open) oh this love would kill me

Who: Ange, Ruby, and you!
What: Ruby and Ange's wedding, and all their CR is invited!
When: Late October
Where: The rebuilt Clockhouse

Content Warnings: Semi-irresponsible weapon usage.

Sometime around the beginning of October invitations would have started to be sent out to the various people in Trench Ange and Ruby know - announcing the two girls' wedding at the end of the month.

When the day itself comes, people will find the location - the newly rebuilt Clockhouse, which some of the invitees may have helped rebuild in the first place - tastefully decorated. Some of the house's stranger features have been covered up by decorations in red and gold, mostly taking on the shapes of roses and butterflies all over the place.

There's absolutely no way.

[ Usually Ange would get a little bit more huffy about that. But under the current circumstances she actually manages to say it rather calmly, like what Ange herself is claiming here is inevitable. A fact. ]

Onii-chan would never betray his little sister like that. [ I don't know about that, Ange.. ] Especially not on her special day.

[ Hey, it's true that she does have that advantage today of all things.

Maybe that's why Ange is sounding so calm. ]

He wouldn't dare ruin his sister's wedding by siding with someone else instead.

[Echo jolts a bit at being addressed. Honestly she was expecting to just observe what everyone did here quietly and put it all in her diary later. Being spoken to usually meant work to do, but this wasn't Vincent. His apparent fashion sense was in the same indecipherable category as practically everything her master did, though. Or maybe this is more like Break.

After an awkward second, she stiffly shakes her head.]

N-No. I am...tired. This is not an unhappy event.

[There's a noticeable lack of emotion in her voice, which is instead almost robotic. She really isn't lying. She has been exhausted all month, and her limited experience with emotions hasn't connected "unhappy" with other negative feelings just yet. She only worked out "happy" relatively recently.]

[Making a big deal out of seeing her when she's trying to be invisible, do you think you're Oz Vessalius or something?! It's hard for Echo's cheeks to not start turning pink at this sudden change of events. But, given the occasion, she certainly doesn't want to be impolite. She gives her a quick bow.]

Ah, yes. I am very pleased your courtship proved to be successful and for you both being "happy".

[It's harder to hide her trepidation as she turns her thoughts to the booth.]

It...will?

Really? You look so...dapper. I wouldn't even think you were an expert axe thrower!

[Luz was honestly a bit impressed. She made another throw and sadly the throw went a little wild and still missed her target].

Drat.

You doing Ok, Ruby?

[Luz happened to notice her friend doubled over a bit but managing to bring up a thumbs up. Luz had a very powerful feeling that this was precisely something she would have done if they had been in the same situation].

Going to take a guess that this is a Trench thing. Obviously you wouldn't want to be like this on such a special day.

[Ruby's a little surprised at the bow, but she manages to return it with one of her own. It's sort of goofy and unbalanced but she's trying her best. She wasn't the most formal of people on a good day.]

Thank you very much. It's been a long time coming I guess, but I finally managed to wear her down, you know?

[Getting Ange to open up and warm up to the world around her had been a pretty big deal and nothing had made Ruby happier than to see it happen.

That grin on her face grows into something a bit more mischievous.]

It definitely will! What could be better than making a few memories of an event like this.

It's true! I don't know where all of this anti-gun rhetoric came from either. Statistically guns save more than they kill.

[That... Isn't accurate at all by Earth standards but it could be a thing in a Remnant?]

Oh! Someone commissioned a pair of gauntlets and boots off me. Both of those had guns and knives in them.

So, there are still a few people out in the world with some sense in their heads.

Ange shall give me many pats and tell me that I am the most wonderful and helpful.

[Everything to gain and nothing to lose; this is the way of things for Baltus McBreakomen. He doesn't quite give in to the spinnies again, but he does commence prancing cheerfully back and forth over top of Ruby's fallen form, though he is at least thoughtful enough not to step on her. It would not do to leave pawprints on her nice clothes.]

[ He does, because what else would he do? She's his sister. Of course he's going to come closer. ]

[chill out, rubes, nobody needs to make remnant great again or anything.]

Holy shit. Where did you fit everything? And, like—is there a confidentiality thing going on, or can I ask who has the gun-knife-feet so I know not to fuck with them.

Throwing sharp objects is sort of a game, for demons. And we never had all that many of them.

[They were all sort of like that, too. But, hey, it had been something fun to do.]

I'm more used to knives, but I can do this too. [He flings another one, lodging it in the dummy's torso.] Takes practice.

"Aw, thanks Luz! I always know I can count on you. I would absolutely want you to be there whenever that day would come. And the same for you, I would be all over helping you with your wedding whenever your day comes!"

She gives a sheepish chuckle as she tries to make a little room for Luz.

"Just scooch on in here, it'll be fine!"

[The ultimate goal of Ruby's training, to make Scorpia know the power of a too-strong hug... Maybe one day she'll reach that plateau.]

Some things you can just never see coming, I guess. And some of those things you don't see coming are just great and lovely and fantastic, like this. I'm glad for this. You and Ruby making each other happy, it sounds like an excellent deal to me. Hey, how about a dance?

[Her brain can handle anything with the power of koalas and anime on her side! And now she's sure that Ange is completely and totally small and adorable!

In any case, Scorpia leans against the nearest surface while she patiently listens to Ange, with a thoughtful frown.]

I see. Maybe it is something like that! Like you said, you and Ruby... you practically have been married already. Sometimes those nervous feelings happen anyway. Getting up and making a show of it in front of everyone... I know that even I can feel antsy about things like that. But for what it's worth, Ange, I feel like you've got this!

You're going to be fine. Try not to worry too much, okay? Just take a deep breath.

[Willow gives her a reassuring smile. Everyone, she's sure, has done everything they can to make sure everything goes smoothly.]

It's totally normal to be a little nervous. Don't forget, though, it's just us out there - your friends, and your family. There's nothing to be worried about, okay?

[Ruby gives a small little huff.]

That's just because she doesn't know the true terror you cause.

And you're lucky I'm also weak to your doggy charms and don't have the power to say anything negative about you.

[It's okay. She got pushed into wonderland before she could do anything like that.]

They were pretty big boots- so there was room to work with. The knives are in the soles and the guns are on the side. For the most part.

You ever hear of a girl named Vi? She's got the feet. But I'm also working on a pair for a guy named Robby. So there could be an army of people like this if we're not careful.

Me specifically. I'm supplying the army.

[Shiro looks down at himself. Then over at Ruby.]

I'm not wrestling you in this.

[In his fancy tuxedo outfit. Because yes, that's his first thought here.]

You could... race? My omen could help?

[ Not deflecting a compliment for once? Ange clearly must be in a good mood, since she just smiles as Luz pops up and says that. ]

You're looking pretty nice too. [ Or rather - it's not exactly the sort of getup she's often seen Luz in, so it stands out this time around. ] I guess a wedding is the perfect time to dress up, huh?

[ Right. Despite having known about the other's true form for what feels like ages now, it's often easy for Ange to forget that Michael didn't always look like this. It's just something about his human form that suits his personality so well. It feels very.. Michael-y.

It makes the first part of what he says way less of a surprise though. More just a casual thing said between friends, no matter how extremely weird that statement would be in literally any other context.

It may be why she doesn't zero in on that part, but rather the last thing he says. ]

Well, if even you think it's sweet, then I guess it's got to be worth all this trouble. [ Not like all demons out there would find weddings sweet--

Though.. thinking about back home, Ange realises there's quite some demons who are literally obsessed with weddings as well.. ]

You know. All the preparation, being in front of a lot of people, the socializing.. that trouble. [ The usual Ange struggle. ]

[ Ange's hand lands on her other hand, lightly touching the wedding ring that's now on there. Seeming to quietly think about Anna's question for a moment. ]

You mean emotionally?

[ She figures it's that, considering this is a talk between the two of them. Anna - much like Ange herself - doesn't seem like the type to really sweat having to gather some stuff for a ritual. It's not even like most of it was hard to get, after all.

No, their issue always lies much more on this level. ]

It wasn't that hard, but.. I think that's because it was Ruby. [ She's pretty sure of that, and after saying it, she glances back up from her hands, over at Anna. ] It's a lot to just let someone into your head like that. I hear Ruby's thoughts all the time, so I can only imagine she hears what I'm thinking all the time as well.

[ And that's a scary thing when you're not used to presenting the vulnerable parts of yourself to the world at large. ]

So if it had been someone else.. I don't know if I would've been able to do it. But Ruby had already basically seen everything from me at that point anyway, so I figured not a single thought I'd have would really be a surprise to her.

Can't say I've heard of Vi, you friendly neighborhood weapons manufacturer. Robby sounds, like, halfway familiar, though—he one of J Law's people?

[realizing she will have to unabbrev that, she repeats,] Johnny, I mean. I don't think it's exactly in the karate spirit to bring two different kinds of concealed weapons to a fight. I mean, it's "empty" hand, not "suspiciously empty" hand. Unless there's more drama there that I don't know anything about.

Not so, not so! She knows. I am such a terror that I can even terrorize Xerxes.

[He flops on Ruby, laying his head on her, eyes sparkling with mischief. His wagging tail whacks her leg.]

I am the omen Xerxes deserves. Such is my true power.

[ Ange smiles a little as he says it. Because she knows why he's saying it - or rather, why he's even capable of saying it in such a way. All of this has got to be incredibly familiar for Break himself as well, especially with the use of the word 'boyfriend' here. ]

Right. [ She softly agrees, showing that she very much knows it as well. ] It's exactly like that.

[ To have been convinced once before that something like this didn't exist. At least, not for you. A happy life, surrounded by people who care. Surrounded by small and mundane things that make you so happy. ]

.. maybe it's a good thing then that I stopped caring about the difference between truth and illusions ever since I left my world. [ Even though it had been such a fundamental part of her existence back there. Being stripped of her own world meant being stripped - though with a delay - of her own world's concerns. ] Right now.. the most important thing is that I'm happy, right..? Then it doesn't matter what this is.

It's paying off.

[ Ange will at least let Ruby have that much on their special day, willing to openly give her compliments and all. If they were in private, she may even have added a cutesy nickname to it, but that is a little too much for Ange's heart in front of this many people, even on her wedding day.

Still, the smile is still on her face as she stares at the other girl, before moving to take Ruby's hands into her own. ]

.. we should probably be moving on though, huh? We can't make everyone wait forever.

[ They are kind of up front here to do the entire vows and rings thing, after all.

A-and there's no way Ange is courageous enough to be the one to start with that. Nuh-uh. ]
