Sometime around the beginning of October invitations would have started to be sent out to the various people in Trench Ange and Ruby know - announcing the two girls' wedding at the end of the month.

When the day itself comes, people will find the location - the newly rebuilt Clockhouse, which some of the invitees may have helped rebuild in the first place - tastefully decorated. Some of the house's stranger features have been covered up by decorations in red and gold, mostly taking on the shapes of roses and butterflies all over the place.

Ah, I see. I'm guessing you had more time to get good at it too, huh?

[Which just meant that Luz had to practice this some more. She tried to lower the crook of her arm slightly at the next throw, and this one went a little off the mark].

Knives? Cool! I might be a little better with that. You don't, uh, give lessons, do you?

Yeah. [He's old as hell, he's had time for most things. Turning, he watches her next throw rather than take another himself.] Not officially, but I could.

[Luz noticed he's watching her, takes a breath, and makes another throw. This one is more focused, and gets at least a third of her target].

Would you mind? Helping me learn how to use one, I mean.

Sure.

[He spends a second longer scrutinizing her more openly, then steps over.]

First off, stand more like this. Perpendicular to the target. [He doesn't go to move her himself, just demonstrates with his own stance.]

[She takes in what he was saying, nods, and starts to adjust her stance and her aim].

How's this?

Good. Now, don't hold it too tight, or you won't let go quick enough. Just - just slowly go through how you throw it, don't actually throw it.

Right.

I just take my time, check the spot I'm aiming for, get into position and then I launch my wrist back and fling.

That's how I'm trying to do it. Is that wrong?

Maybe try your whole arm. Just up, and then release when it's about eye level. That'll give it more force, too. You need that to really stick it in there.

Ok. Whole arm. Got it.

[Luz squinted her eyes, reared back and let the axe fly. This time, she managed to get her target].

Whoa! I did it!

Wooo! There you go!

And you said that you do this in, uh, the demon world?

[Or did he say hell? She didn't want to get that wrong. She was still trying to make sure she had everyone's story straight].

Uh.....well, not really anymore. But yes, back in the day.

Hopefully not anymore!

[As Luz says this, she's not ignorant of the fact that he could have been much crueler to the people who'd been trying to burn Vyng alive].

I love that this is something a part of here! Leave it to Ruby to have fun testing feats of strength and accuracy at a wedding!

Yeah, it's fun! Takes some attention off Ange, too.

[He says this like an unambiguously good thing; he knows the attention was stressing her out.]

True! Though she is getting married, so there will be guaranteed attention no matter what she does.

It's kinda funny she's like that when I feel like Ruby's the opposite!

They balance each other out. I don't know a lot about all that romance stuff, but all the best couples I've known are kinda like that.

I don't know everything about it myself, but I think you're right.

Also, you can be similar in a lot of ways and super different in others.

That's true, too. I guess maybe you want a bit of both.

You never know how that's going to look, and sometimes it can bring fights, but? I think it's worth it.

[Just as she was sure, knowing how long Ruby and Ange had been together, that they were sure about marrying each other too. It was always a bit of a miracle to get married here, but Luz always wished well on the people who decided to do it anyway].
