Sometime around the beginning of October invitations would have started to be sent out to the various people in Trench Ange and Ruby know - announcing the two girls' wedding at the end of the month.

When the day itself comes, people will find the location - the newly rebuilt Clockhouse, which some of the invitees may have helped rebuild in the first place - tastefully decorated. Some of the house's stranger features have been covered up by decorations in red and gold, mostly taking on the shapes of roses and butterflies all over the place.

[Faith watches him throw, trying to place him. They've met, though not formally. Faith was often at the house when Battler first arrived and she was aware that he was Ange's brother, but last she heard (while having her insides ripped open with her own knife), he'd already disappeared back into the sea.

Well, time to make formal introductions, then.]

You're kinda shit at this game. [Great start, Faith.]

You're the brother then?

[ Battler pauses, letting the axe he was going to toss dangle from his fingers as he turns to the newcomer with a shrug and a grin. ]

Not exactly something we learned in P.E.

[ He doesn't know her, but that's true of a lot of people here. ]

And that's me! Battler! Guess you know my sister?

She's one of my best friends. [It feels like a bit of an understatement, but she doesn't really know how else to put it. What do you call the person who saved your life - who you would kill and die for, the first person to really reach out to you in this place.

Best friend is a start.

She picks up one of the axes and tosses it off handedly, hitting Mother Mercy right between the eyes. The force is considerable!

It's good that she has family back. I know how much she's missed it. Just don't go hurting her or I'll throw an axe at you next, kay?

[It's joking and casual but also is she.]

You knew Jessica too, I'm guessing?

Don't worry, I wouldn't dream of it.

[ He laughs - but she is very good with throwing that axe, that's a little worrying. He cocks his head at her, curious. ]

Of course. Jessica's my cousin - we saw each other every year for ages.

[ And then they didn't for a bit, but that's a minor detail. ]

I'm glad she's had you around to look out for her.

Good to hear.

[She was pretty sure, but it always seemed complicated. Push comes to shove, she'd side with Ange. Ange had earned that from her.]

Mm. Well, I've tried. She's got a lot of people who love her, y'know? [A beat.] Just don't tell her that, she'll go as red as a tomato.

...yeah. She deserves that, though. To be loved, I mean.

[ He rubs the back of his head sheepishly. ]

I... didn't get a chance to be there for her while she was growing up. So I'm glad she found people who could be.

[slayerskiss]

Well, you were dead, right. Would be sorta weird to blame you for that.

[But she'd get it if Ange did. She hates her mother so much for dying and she thinks she will forever.]

Must be kinda weird to be younger than your little sister.

Uh. Kind of? It's a little weird to explain...

[ He personally doesn't like thinking about the whole dead versus not dead thing. At least not right now and right here. ]

I guess it is a little weird, but she's still my little sister. No matter what happens with us or how far apart events take us. That's never going to change.
