(mostly open) oh this love would kill me
Who: Ange, Ruby, and you!
What: Ruby and Ange's wedding, and all their CR is invited!
When: Late October
Where: The rebuilt Clockhouse
Content Warnings: Semi-irresponsible weapon usage.

Sometime around the beginning of October invitations would have started to be sent out to the various people in Trench Ange and Ruby know - announcing the two girls' wedding at the end of the month.
When the day itself comes, people will find the location - the newly rebuilt Clockhouse, which some of the invitees may have helped rebuild in the first place - tastefully decorated. Some of the house's stranger features have been covered up by decorations in red and gold, mostly taking on the shapes of roses and butterflies all over the place.

You just really have to squint and focus on how big of a jerk Mother Mercy is, then you'll get it every time.
[She's sort of exaggerating but then she feels herself pulled into the hug and while she gives a little squeak like a rubber ducky, she's quick to return the gesture.]
Thank you- It's been. A long time coming and honestly, it was thanks to your suggestion that I decided to ask her in the first place.
no subject
[she really doesn't want to take any sort of credit for anything that ruby has ended up doing with her life. she's just happy that rubes is here, and implying that the only thing that's made ruby want to marry ange is hopefully absurd enough to read as a joke.]
But I think I'm done throwing metaphorical axes at metaphorical gods. I just wanted to chuck that thing so I looked cool. Where'd you even get this many axes? Did you make them? [she asks something else with just a little dread.] Do they have guns in them?
no subject
[Mind you she was shit posting on the network when she proposed. So... The right moment was subjective.]
You did look super cool doing it. I'll give you that.
[There is a light little sigh.]
There's no guns in them. Ange made me promise that I wouldn't put guns in them for the wedding. But next time- Next time I make them they are totally going to have guns in them.
no subject
[this is a stupid little tease. she wants to get to know ruby better, and this seems to be the best way to do it.]
And I don't want guns in anything I ask you to make for me. But you know why—sorry, Rubes, you still haven't won me over on that one. What's the last thing you did put a gun into?
no subject
[That... Isn't accurate at all by Earth standards but it could be a thing in a Remnant?]
Oh! Someone commissioned a pair of gauntlets and boots off me. Both of those had guns and knives in them.
So, there are still a few people out in the world with some sense in their heads.
no subject
Holy shit. Where did you fit everything? And, like—is there a confidentiality thing going on, or can I ask who has the gun-knife-feet so I know not to fuck with them.
no subject
They were pretty big boots- so there was room to work with. The knives are in the soles and the guns are on the side. For the most part.
You ever hear of a girl named Vi? She's got the feet. But I'm also working on a pair for a guy named Robby. So there could be an army of people like this if we're not careful.
Me specifically. I'm supplying the army.

[realizing she will have to unabbrev that, she repeats,] Johnny, I mean. I don't think it's exactly in the karate spirit to bring two different kinds of concealed weapons to a fight. I mean, it's "empty" hand, not "suspiciously empty" hand. Unless there's more drama there that I don't know anything about.
no subject
[She blinks momentarily. She didn't recognize J Law right off the bat until Anna clarified.]
That guy? The Karate guy? The guy who pooped in Ozpin's clock!? Uh- I'm not sure. But Robby did say he fought with his fists and feet- So maybe?
I think he was more concerned about the beasts than actually being armed to fight people. I don't really know if that counts? I might have to ask him about this.
I'm not surprised anyone from the karate guy's world has drama though.
no subject
[she shakes her head. some people are fucking wild, and this is coming from someone who is anna.]
What even happened when that guy pooped in the clock? I've heard about that twice now. Do they have, like, beef, or was it just a party that went super bad, or... actually, fuck, dude. Now that I think about it, who even is Ozpin to all you guys? All I really know is how he slots in with Oscar.
no subject
[If there is one thing Ruby has learned through her time in Deerington and Trench it's that she can't be everywhere at one time.]
I'm going to be honest- I have no idea. I've never met the guy who did it. He seems to have picked up a grudge against Ozpin somewhere along the line. And I mean- Oz can be kind of weird about things too. So I'm not too surprised it happened.
[The next question gives her a little bit of pause. She taps her chin and thinks about it.]
At first he was the headmaster of my school. ...Then he was kind of guiding me along through a war we were fighting at home.
...Then I kind of learned he was about as flawed as anyone could be. We had sort of a falling out and things have gotten a bit better since then.
He's kind of like long lost family in a way. I don't know if he'd say that. But it's mostly true.
no subject
Ah, okay, okay. So he's like this cool adult figure who you think you can trust, then you start realizing things are a little more messed up than you thought they were, and the magic starts falling away. [she nods in understanding, generally getting the vibe even if the specifics aren't there.]
I know about the forever war, too. Didn't realize that Oz was leading you through that whole thing, but I guess if he's the headmaster of a school for fighting then it makes sense. And I'm glad you guys patched things up, too. [this time, her smile's a bit wistful.] I was pretty close with one of the people who was running the show back home. I never blamed him for what happened to my eye, but I think he thought I did for a while. We patched things up too, and then he turned into one of my closest friends.
no subject
Basically exactly that. I don't overly blame him for being cautious or keeping secrets. I'm... Sure it gets much worse beyond what I know about it.
[She's more certain that she just would never know the full truth than that she wouldn't understand it.
She blinks in surprise that Anna seems more up to date on her life than she would of guessed.]
Leading- Might be a strong word. At least at first he was- He ended up taking a step back for awhile. ...I picked up the reigns from there. I don't know if I was doing much of a better job than him though.
I'm sorry I never mentioned this sooner. There's no way to really bring you're fighting in a forever war up that doesn't seem a little forced. And I like to focus more on things here than I do about home stuff.
[She catches that smile and folds her arms and listens to Anna's story.]
Yeah, kind of a funny story what happened with mine, too. I guess she was an enemy when she first got here- But it was always more complicated than that. She got close with my family in the dream and eventually we let her in.
...The dream was good at messing with people though and she kind of slid back a little and the whole eye thing happened.
I knew it wasn't something she wanted to do though- And... Well I miss her a lot. I know a lot of us do.

[she wishes that she could promise ruby that one day, this person she's thinking about would show up on the shores again. she wishes that it could ever be that easy, that the world would ever give anyone that kind of break. but she knows that that's as impossible as almost anything else around here.]
It sounds like you all loved her even though she didn't come from the best place. I had a feeling you might. [she smiles softly. the reference is for herself.] But that's the thing about fighting wars like that. They last forever, but that's a lot of time for people to change. Lot of time for a lot of things to happen, good and bad.
But there's still time for pockets of peace like this one, too. Hell, even World War I had the Christmas truce. And when we're done here... well. We can go back to uncovering secrets and preparing for what's waiting for us right around the next corner. [she has to rewrite that sentence in her head, though, so she stops thinking about what's waiting for them at home. it's never a promise.] Right?
no subject
I'm sure she misses you too.
[That much she felt she could say with certainty.]
I did- It might have taken awhile for us to realize it. But gosh... She was definitely family.
[She finds herself smiling softly at Anna's words. It was true. And she had seen a lot of changes over people over the course of her short life and time fighting this war. From her uncle, to Emerald, to Ironwood, to her own sister and uncle.]
Yeah... And while not every change is always good. They're important all the same. You get to see people for who they are.
I'll admit I've only heard about World War 1 in classes when I was in the dream. And I had hard time staying awake for them. But that sounds nice. I would have liked to have heard more about that-
You think we can convince the beasts or the patrons here to give us a day off?
no subject
[she smiles, but it doesn't make it to her eyes. she doesn't realize that she's picked up that expression from someone else.]
Maybe she'll let us all just chill out and do another fancy party like this one. No monsters, no beasts. Just cool dresses, nice suits, and kick-ass music. That can be when Trench remembers that sometimes, in the dead of winter, you really just need to celebrate things to remember that you're still people, all in this world together, and you're still alive.
[and maybe that will be the day that zee, or beth, or emerald, or whoever finally shows up here, too. even for only a few days. anything can happen in the name of new beginnings, she thinks, hoping too hard for reality to agree with.]
no subject
[Ruby Rose had... Priorities to say the very least.]
But you're right. It took me a long time to admit that there were more important things out there than just beating up monsters and protecting people.
And January here - or in the dream has always been a little significant to me. It's when I first woke up in the dream, met Ange. I lost eye that following January. Last January was probably the least eventful- but I think I deserved a break after the eye thing.
no subject
[that's not exactly how it happened, no, but she doesn't have the clearest time memory from that period of her life. she just remembers it was less time than she needed.]
I'm just hoping I don't turn into an Intoner again this year. I think NP actually had to talk me down from that one, but that was rough. [as she thinks about it, she wonders how many rampages she's actually gone on this year, and she doesn't like that it's more than one.] How about this. Let's make a pact to just fuckin' be calm no matter what happens in January. We need the break, and we might as well go into the new year with the same energy we hope to get out of it.
[she extends her hand as though the handshake will bind things.]
