[sansa has hung up stark banners both inside and outside the dining hall to mark where the feast will be taking place. she has managed to bring her high harp into the building and hired one of the local volunteers to play some pop music arrangements on it.

there are two long tables laid with food; one has a large seaweed salad with chunks of roasted pumpkin, blackberries, and fresh goat cheese sprinkled with nuts in a lemon-poppyseed vinaigrette, platters of crabcakes, mushroom-and-onion turnovers piled high around a massive steak-and-kidney pie (with peas and pearl onions, all simmered in a dark ale) and direwolf sigil stamped on top, trays of roast carrots with onions and barley, bowls of mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, thick loaves of brown oatbread, and a big wheel of a sharp sheep's cheese.

the other table has lemoncakes and honeycakes and sweetbiscuits stamped with weirwood leaf shapes, chocolate chip cookies and little jam tarts, bigger tarts of blackberries and plums, pumpkin cakes with chocolate chips, baked apples and gingerbread as well as a big yellow cake with strawberry jam in the middle stuck with seventeen narrow beeswax candles of assorted heights.

another smaller table has as many bottles of wine as sansa could find, all made if not with grapes than at least with some kind of fruit. a keg of dark ale has been hauled in, and there is a massive pitcher of lemonsweet (admittedly from concentrate, but sansa still likes it). guests are welcome to bring additional beverages.

there are assorted tables and chairs to sit and eat at. it's only a little squished. the effect, overall, is like a cross between a medieval dining hall and a high school cafeteria decorated for one of the smaller dances.

food and/or bones will be provided for dogs and other companion animals. if anyone is feeling overwhelmed or needs a break, s'mores will be glad to meet them outside the hall and accompany them to the godswood (courtyard) where knight the bloodhound is dozing peacefully in the moonlight. he has a nice grey woolen jacket with a border of black embroidered antlers.

MEANWHILE, unbeknownst to sansa:

violet (who will stop to meditate every hour - and more, depending) and her co-conspirator sharon, because she is not alone in this, have set up various activities.

some happen throughout the feast, such as the piling up of gifts, and a table with a plethora of art supplies (and chairs!) where one is encouraged to draw up one's own house sigil in westerosi style, and if mottos are added, all the better. try to keep them kid friendly if you'd like to win the competition, because make no mistake ...this is a competition, and all entries will be submitted to the lady of the (name)day. many examples hang up already for people to see - vi has drawn all of the ones she has heard about and perhaps they are not all correct. are those middle fingers bordering the lannister sigil? is their motto really "blah blah blah"?

there is also a small stage, with its own fancy chair, if one would like to sit and perform for the birthday lady. bring your own instruments, please, unless you play the high harp. or perhaps you might like to recite a poem or a piece of theater? feel free.

fancy making a flower crown? tons of paper flowers are here for that, with wired bases if you just want to grab flowers and cram them in. if you're craftier, twist your own wires, fold your own flowers (there are patterns ranging from simple to complex) all sorts of (uncursed) paints and even glitter, courtesy of allen.

a game of pin the tail on the direwolf complete with blindfolds and little glasses of spiced wine to aid in the spinning if being blindfolded and spun isn't enough. (actually they're shots. those are shot glasses. oops.) however, the "pins" aren't sharp, they're sticky. no injuries on vi's watch, please.]

FANG is very bitter because they memorized the whole vincent price monologue and had a plan to be Very Huge and Make The Room Dark and end the song with glowy yellow eyes and a Big Evil Laugh and NOW IT IS RUINED so +1 sulking omen.

noteworthy party activities/incidents: she's going to be nodding off a lot during the party and will just have a general aura of exhaustion hanging off of her but will be in a chipper mood despite it. she'll definitely hesitate to do the karaoke tourney but will get totally into it when she does. she'll try all the food, too.

what they are up to:
• Peter can mostly be found hanging around the food tables stuffing his face or awkwardly standing near a wall inbetween mingling. The thing is, this is his first time in the Sanctuary and he is a bit worried that it might have... adverse effects on him, considering he is.... demonically possessed. At times through the evening, he will feel a bit ill, nothing too serious, it's just that Paimon is so incredibly sensitive to places coated in magic and wards, even if these don't explicitly harm him. You might find Peter sitting down dizzily or looking a bit off, but he should be fine.... He will also be helping himself to some shots, and join in for Pin the Tail on the Direwolf.
• Paimon will be all over the place. He will be Very Excited by the table of art supplies and can be found there for a very long time.... working on his own "house sigil" or poking around to look curiously around at others'. He will also just sit there and... draw, everything he sees. He'll probably draw you, too: you may see it, a cartoonish depiction of someone with your hair colour and a childlike rendition of your clothing. Flower crowns will also be something he'll delight in making, folding various flowers and crafting crowns with so, so much glitter.
karaoke 'tourney' performance: god no..... Peter's worst nightmare, public performance.... No one wants to see him pass out
sigil, colors etc.: Crafted exclusively by Paimon, who did not completely understand the assignment: his own sigil in dark glittering gold, on a lighter gold glittering background. There is.... so much glitter... It is absolutely not a good idea for an ancient goetic demon's sigil to just like, be there. Anyone sensitive to occult vibes / supernatural energies might feel a bit discomforted by the feeling of being close to it....
noteworthy party activities/incidents: The aforementioned Peter looking a bit off and sick from time to time, Paimon staring widely at you and following you around or just, staring at you from across the room as he draws you....

what they are up to: She will be hanging about the food tables, especially near any desserts and sweet treats because of course. And Luna will absolutely be getting into the creative activities like making a house sigil and flower crowns. If you ask her nicely, she might make you one too. u///u
karaoke 'tourney' performance: Oh, no. No thank you. She will happily cheer from the sidelines.
sigil, colors etc.: A sigil for House Lovegood? Luna will be taking her time with this one, she's taking it very seriously. She will eventually settle on a white crescent moon upon a sapphire blue field, a silver hare leaping across the moon. On the 'open side' of the moon, there will be a small semi-circle of dirigible plums (although from a distance, one might mistake the orange radish shapes for stylised sun beams). Her house words will be 'Accept the Extraordinary'. The blue is a nod to her Hogwarts House, the moon is for Luna herself, the silver hare a nod towards Luna's magic (her patronus), and the dirigible plums a nod towards her home, and her father (I did say she'd take these seriously).
noteworthy party activities/incidents: She will be keeping an eye on Peter/Paimon through most of the party, and will likely be near him for periods of time before they part to go off and do their own things. things other characters might observe your character doing, excellent for handwaving. Luna will also be bringing Helga with her, because she's a very good girl and will go hang out with Lady.

sigil, colors etc.: Alice is having a grand time doing arts and crafts. She decides on the red and black antlered rabbit for House Baskerville ("Can You Eat It"), if they wanted a more dignified banner they should have come to the party.
noteworthy party activities/incidents: not only is she a snoozy drunk, she might hover and get caught in the banners. may have to be picked up and carried home even if she does not imbibe, alice is an excitable young lady and will crash once she's out of energy

(does jinx care about sansa's blessed day? not necessarily. truthfully, she is only here because of the food. she's growing weaker by not eating correctly due to this month's blood effect. vi and her omen are doing what they can, but little nibbles here and there is not really cutting it. it's amazing she hadn't die of starvation at this point. willpower, she guesses.

so here she is, inside the sanctuary which she's never been into. and jinx has to admit, it is rather beautiful — artistic wise. mr.bananas decides to sprout of her chest in pure glee and immediately rushes off to go to the table. jinx watches her monkey sprint away as she leans against the nearest pillar/wall(?) -- rummaging in her pockets to pull out...wait. is that... a pack of cigarettes?

why, yes. yes it is. the blue braided girl takes a stick out of its packet with her teeth before shoving the rest back in her pocket. with index finger close to the tip, a spark of electricity flicks gingerly over to light the stick. and then she resumes to stand, taking a soft drag with it between her fingers.)

( The Sanctuary... is not a place that Peter has directly ventured to, despite being in its orbit for a good while now. He's kept a distance even as others grow closer, and even as he's wanted to tiptoe that way himself to see what it has to offer, if there are ways he could be helped or ways he could help others. Ultimately, it's a birthday party that pushes him to take that final step to its doors, even if it's... cautiously (and after a few good days of angsting to Luna about it).

After all, a demonically possessed guy stepping foot in a place that's knowingly warded and protected and pure — 'am I going to start sizzling?' seems a valid question to wonder.

He takes it slowly, and he does not start sizzling because Paimon is not that sort of demon at the root of it, but given the demon king's sensitivity to wards and magic and the way the energy here does press against him like a fog, Peter ends up feeling sick at times. You might see him off on his own, leaning against a wall — complexion muted and dulled, eyes half-lidded. Or maybe he's nearby and he starts wobbling, unsteady on his feet and fever-dream dizzy. These kinds of spells aren't uncommon for him now, but in this place that maintains a constant second energy he keeps breathing in, they just happen a bit more frequently.

When he isn't standing near walls looking nervous and awkward, he can also be found trying nearly everything at the food tables, sampling wines, or... eventually... playing pin the tail on the direwolf. At this point, he's had a few drinks and Paimon has been Out, A Lot, which always fries Peter's mental state a bit.... all this to say, he's more loosened up and goofy and prone to actually being somewhat talkative. There's a shot glass in hand as he watches someone take their turn with the blindfold, and he's grinning more easily now at you if you make eye contact. On top of his head is..... a crown, of course, flowers painted shiny gold and the whole thing has been lathered in gold glitter as well. It's. It's too much glitter. It's shedding like mad, gold sparkles in his hair and in the air as he moves and probably dusting on you if you're standing close enough.

.....Speaking of The Demon and his Crafts.... Maybe you happened upon Paimon earlier when he was making his flower crown, spinning paper roses slowly and artfully together on wire, and painting the whole thing gold, then applying glitter on every surface... Or maybe you come across him when he's drawing people at the art table. His sigil has already been finished (again, it's.... made out of a lot of sparkling gold glitter.... and that very much is a literal demonic seal, probably not the best thing to just have out like that,,,,,) and he's moved on to drawing things he sees going on, which does include everyone here. You might see a drawing that looks like you, albeit done in a childlike style, with exaggerated features and uneven proportions.

Overall, Paimon is just out and about a lot, wandering around, staring at people or following them to watch what they're doing. He isn't really interested in eating much, unless it's chocolate — which means that he's mostly honing in on chocolate chip cookies, reaching for them and tucking them into Peter's bag, one by one.... he seems to be trying to hoard a good few.... )

the nameday baby!!!

[after setting up the banners and harp and checking in on the kitchens, sansa returned home to feed visenya and upgrade her usual silver-scale outfit to a much fancier one, with elaborate velvet applique and beaded scales set with silver scale mail pieces over a layer of direwolves and weirwood leaves picked out in silver and pale bloodstone. it cuts just low enough to let the darkblood buckle of her needle necklace rest against her skin, and it's hemmed to her knees in front, showing enough of her black boots and leggings to set it off properly, with layers of its silver imitation silk draped in the back to create the illusion of petticoats. her hair is still braided with silver scale male pieces, but she's coiled the ends of her braids into a bun and pinned a new headpiece over it. she's also glued some silver sequins to her face and applied allen's best silver-tinsel-streaked false eyelashes that she'd been saving for this occasion.

sansa is absolutely floored to return to vi's additions to her party. tears threaten to spill over all her carefully applied makeup. lady brushes up against her side, wearing a matching silver velvet collar embroidered with beads and scale mail, and sansa tangles her fingers in the ruff of fur at her neck.]

This is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me.

[doubtless her friends have heard this sort of hyperbole before if they've ever given her a present or brought her food or anything. she laughs in disbelief and walks around, inspecting the new decorations and banners.

her omen winter, also curious, settles on her shoulder with a stiff silver ribbon embroidered with snowflakes and edged with steel beads tied in a large, jaunty bow to one side around his neck.

'blah blah blah' is quite similar in meaning to 'hear me roar,' essentially. she laughs.]

Oh, that's good.

[she raises her eyebrows at a particularly smouldering rendition of the manderly merman with dark hair. she turns and briefly sorts through the art supplies, unable to keep the giddy smile off her face.]

Is everyone meant to make their own banners? I don't know if I have enough spare castles in the North to give them...

[vi has indirectly relied on sansa's stylings for this one, too. she's worn it to the black parade, off and on, and it's the costume she feels most comfortable in, so she's dressed again in a silvery tunic that falls in drapey layers and similar leggings in a melange oilslick colors that change as she moves. it's a bit of a change from her usual colors (black, grungy jewel tones) but the silhouette's mostly the same.

she's a fancy knight at a fancy lady's nameday tourney. this is how you do that, yes?

her makeup is still on, and it's neither cat nor unicorn, but a single silver stripe across the bridge of her nose and under her eyes. there's a bit of silver at the tips of her hair where it's longest, too. she carries two swords, one on each side. is it weird? possibly. but more is more, right? both swords are gifts from the memory books, but only one of them is a sword maria might recognize.

at the moment she's doing another walkthrough, making sure people are having a good time, nodding hellos and checking out people's sigils, or maybe nabbing a drink from the pin the tail on the direwolf area.]

[Of course Ochako is by the food table, of course she is. If there's one thing that'd draw her to any function, it's the promise of delicious (and free) food! She is loading her plate high with an assortment of savory goods - the mushroom and onion tarts, a slice of the steak and kidney pie, and of course some mashed potatoes and roasted carrots, too. She avoid the alcohol like it's the devil's brew (no more accidents like she had at her own party...), and instead opts for lemon water or any sorts of juices or teas available.

Catch her mid bite, sitting and kicking her feet like a child at one of the tables, or balancing a plate of desserts on one finger and lightly spinning it as she hums lightly to the beat of the music playing. Zero Gravity is definitely a fun quirk to play with at parties, especially when some people get a little tipsy. Floating objects for their entertainment is always worth a laugh or two, and Ochako doesn't mind, so long as none of her food is dropped.]

Aaah...I may have to ask about some of these recipes...they're sooo good~!

[if you've been roped into learning/practicing ...or teaching the thriller dance for this, you are in for a disappointment. it's come to her attention that the dance has already been seen on the network courtesy of the lich emperor ocean puncher and it's now perhaps not the best choice, here. especially considering sansa's feelings about that man, and the distressing new weirdness with gideon. so. vi is loathe to abandon the dance, but she will (with much grumbling) and she does, and it's a bit of a last minute scramble to find a new dance.

one contender's easy - she already knows it's got sansa's seal of approval, so it's single ladies time. doesn't matter if you're a single lady, come on, get in here and do the dance!

offer your own dances up for quick learning. they don't all have to be part of the big presentation. they can do this just for fun.

Sharon will leave two very large, carefully wrapped paintings at the present table. Each one depicts a raven peppered with embroidered silver stars and galaxies. There's a small, handwritten note in addition to the paintings written in Sharon's sharp, tilted style that says May all the stars in this sky keep watch over you.

• From Peter, a leaf carved from amethyst, that he found at the occult shop once ran by John Constantine, now taken over by Luna Lovegood. He'd learned of its connections to stress reduction, healing, and contentedness, and it's of a good size and weight.
• Paimon will leave on the table, a little doll. It's been crafted out of a variety of small items taken from a magpie-like collection, meticulously pieced together. The doll is clearly meant in Sansa's likeness, with strands of red hair and a fancy, shiny top-piece, complete with a jeweled brooch on the front.

Vi will leave a large drawing she has been thinking about, working on (and scrapping many times), but is now vaguely pleased with since she could look at the photos Sansa got: it's of all the Starks in the family, gathered together with the appropriate number of wolves! It's mostly blackwork/gradients of, but with hints of color (hair! cheeks! eyes!) It's been framed (horizontally, it's a longboi of a drawing) ornately, by a trenchie, and has some pieces of leaves that have fallen from the Rookery's heart tree decoupaged into the frame at the four corners.

Luna has gifted Sansa with a small package of homemade candied lemon slices and they've been enchanted to keep for a good while, if Sansa can find herself able to ration them. She's also made her a little canine friend out of beads, along with a handmade birthday card.

Ochako has brought Sansa a rather fashionable coat to keep warm in the upcoming winter months as well as a pair of knit gloves and a scarf that Ochako knitted herself.

There's also a box of mochi daifuku arranged and made to look like little seals!! Another thing Ochako painstakingly made, and with the mochi master here...they're bound to be as tasty as they are adorable! A little baggy of fresh chamomile flowers is wrapped with a neat ribbon to go with them as a tea, of course. Just boil 'em up!
