( On Peter's birthday and Blessed Month, he will go through a canon update that's given him updated memories. For weeks 1 - 3 he will mentally be MIA, and Paimon/Charlie may be interacted with. On week 4, Peter will return. Closed starters will be placed under the appropriate posts. Please hit me up @ plot post / plurk / large bat#2354 / pm if you're interested in a starter / if you'd like to plot for the month! )

It is... often difficult to ask for help, given that it would very much out Peter and his situation, of being host to an ancient demonic entity. Luna wouldn't do that to him. It's Peter's secrets to tell when he feels ready to. But he is slowly telling more of the people he knows about his circumstances. And she's proud of him, it's a very brave thing to do. There's relief there, too. Tip-toeing around it all is often exhausting, especially when things happen.
So help is so very much appreciated, now that things are little more out in the open. Even if it's one person, it counts. ]
They're readyβ! [ Her voice calls from down the hall, the direction of the kitchen, and it's only a moment or two before she appears that way. She carries three mugs of hot chocolate on a small tray, her gaze concentrating on them, to make sure they don't start spilling their contents. Peter definitely meant it, they're particularly decadent for hot chocolate β especially in Trench. And yes, that's homemade marshmallow. She's been practicing. No easy outs with food of convenience. ]
Hello, Robby. [ Her usual breezy easiness. She's in much better spirits these days since Peter's return to himself, like a weight's been lifted from her shoulders. And even if there's still so much going on β a kind of exhaustion to her eyes that's still yet to leave her after the last month or so β she is just very much relishing in the fact she has Peter back. There's a pause before she offers the tray up for him to take one. ]
The mallow's melting a bit... [ Her head turns in the direction of the living room. Just visible, there's a giant wolf dog curled up asleep on the rug by the fire. ] We can go into the living room?

[ Robby can see Peter's looking better than he had, but even if he wasn't, Robby's cheer would be the same level, his smile similar. Right now, he'll add to the atmosphere that doesn't match the reason he's come here, walking through the doorway and returning the greeting of a touched shoulder. And while it doesn't match, it isn't false: there's a relief in Robby too in seeing Peter as he is--who he is, his body not just possessed by another, even if he's seen him a few times since their talk.
Keeping Peter feeling like a normal guy is just as (or more) important than anything to do with Paimon.
He works at his coat, the bag he's got hanging from his shoulders and his gloves and gauntlets he's got set as thick bands above that ("Takes me ten hours to take this all off," he jokes to Peter when he's down to the hand pieces and gloves). It's plenty of time to finally see Luna breezing on through with her hands full, and Robby lifts his head up long enough for her greeting, smiling her way. ]
Hi, Luna, [ he returns, a note more polite than his easier tone with Peter. The gloves are off, and he shoves them into the pockets of his coat and she makes mention of the living room. Robby looks at Peter, but walks forward, going to take one of the cups with a raise of his eyebrows. ]
Wow, okay. [ Trying to focus on the living room thing, and he'll go in that direction. But he has to look back at Peter, lifting his cup with all its gooey glory. ]
Seriously? You're hiding this from me?
[ Thought we were bros, bro. But it's a playful chide before he turns into the living room, spotting the creature there, and wondering if it's omen or--real? Whatever you'd say. It doesn't stop Robby from taking a seat, whichever seems appropriate. Such as: sofas are left for the lovey dovey pair to occupy together. ]

Though another smile reveals as Luna steps up with the tray, Peter reaching to unload another large, hot mug to make her load lighter. Luna certainly works magic β literal magic not included β with her hot chocolate, and there's a grin to come at Robby's words. )
I thought if people knew, they'd be lining up outside, banging on the windows.... We'll let you in the know, but now you have to swear to secrecy.
( With how scarce chocolate generally is... this could be a dangerous game, for real.... But Peter's definitely joking, lopsided grin in place as he lingers to the rear, following the other two into the living room to sit down on a sofa and scoot to make room for Luna.
Mug held in his hands, Peter waits for it to cool a little, still smiling, even as the nerves start easing inwards with pinpricks like little insects crawling across skin. There's small talk that could be made, catch-ups and pleasantries, he isn't rushing (falling silent for a few moments to let Robby and Luna talk if they want to) β but the lingering thing is there and lurking, the.... reason for this meet-up. His heart patters like an anxious little animal, wondering again if they should have put Paimon to "rest" for this. There's no telling if the demon is actually listening right now, Peter tends to believe he is (and especially for this, considering the demon's being talked about), but... it's always an uncomfortable thought. Not that any of this could really be anything other than uncomfortable, anyway.
His smile, for a moment, tightens, but it's subtle, kept to himself. What he does instead is blurt out something, even if quietly. )
βI don't know if he's listening right now. Luna can... make him go to sleep, I guess you could call it, with a spell. But he's notβ he's not under it right now, so he could be here. Listening, I mean. But I don't know for sure.
( ...He's not eager to get into this, would love to stall for as long as he can (as is Peter's Usual Method) but the anxiety of it has been an impending thing all morning long. In any case, Robby deserves that heads' up. That's part of this whole thing, of learning how to live with this whole thing, share it with other people. Being honest, even if it makes him squirm. Who would want to talk to someone knowing that something else might be listening and watching and absorbing everything said? It's fucking creepy. )

Letting the boys seat themselves, she takes her own mug of hot chocolate and places the now-empty tray on the coffee table between them, settling herself on the sofa close to Peter. She'll ask Robby how the wards are holding at his home, if everything seems alright. If there's been any instances where it might seem some of them could be wavering in strength. She's more than happy to come over again to redo some of them if need be! Oh, and also very importantly: ]
Is the marshmallow alright? I'm still perfecting the recipe.
[ And then there's Peter outburst, and her head turns towards him β the smile is subtle but she catches the tightness in it. Very carefully, she places her hand on Peter's knee β giving it a brief squeeze of support. Honestly, she knows fine well how much he's out of his comfort zone with this β as he often is with anything concerning Paimon.
She inhales softly, turning her head back to Robby: ]
I can tell if he's present. It's still kind of something I'm practising, but I can see him. Like he's looking at me. [ Because that doesn't sound unnerving in the slightest. ] ... But I thought it would be a good idea to not put him to sleep for this, considering we're all talking about him. It wouldn't seem fair to ask him to leave.
[ She can, however, ask Paimon if there's something more private to be discussed. But hopefully they can have this conversation without needing that. ]
I think it's good Peter's told you about him. I'm glad. It's very brave of him. It's not very easy to talk aboutβ [ An understatement. There's a pinch of apology in her expression towards Robby. ] it's why I had to be so vague back when Peter was in the Sleeper Cocoon. I didn't want to expose Peter's situation to everyone.

(Especially since his home being magically warded is still, even after a month or so, kinda surreal. Like, wow.)
But for the marshmallows, his brow raise at Luna with a flickering look between her and them, ] You made these? [ asked incredulously. He's not yet taken a sip, the cup hot against his hand, but he'll pinch a marshmallow between his fingers with the chocolate smearing on them. Not clean with how clumped together the marshmallows are, but Robby seems pleased to get a piece on his tongue, cleaning the residue from his fingers. ] Okay, roasted marshmallows and chocolate? They're my weakness.
[ A specific memory for him, even, but he'll only be able to share a verdict ("Tastes alright to me--lemme finish the rest," good-heartedly) before Peter speaks up. Or speaks quietly, but the jovial expression on Robby's face eases to his words, a softer one replacing it. And that's okay; this is why he's here, with Peter and Luna.
But he doesn't withdraw, or look disturbed; there's a blink at the news of Paimon listening, and he's not sure if that's surprising or makes sense. Can it be both? He looks to Luna as she speaks next, a sympathetic smile drawing on his face before he gives a small shake of his head. ]
No, it's okay--I mean, it was a lot either way, what happened. [ Your boyfriend in a creepy cocoon. Robby hadn't felt right pressing about it, and people have secrets. Not most of them involve demon kings, but it's a pretty understandable one in Robby's book.
But here they are, doing this, and Robby shifts his gaze onto Peter. His mouth slightly ajar as he gathers his thoughts, aims for tactful consideration. ]
...Peter wants to live his life the best he can, and Paimon wants to live his, too. It's not a situation either of you were prepared for, but you're both here--and you deserve to feel like you belong here.
[ He pulls a one-sided smile at the end, his voice mostly careful, speaking to both--but not at that latter part, with his eyes on Peter in a meaningful way. Easy to mistake as so, but Robby hasn't forgotten so quickly how Peter had talked about feeling himself drifting away, becoming disconnected from his own body.
That's why Robby's here. One of the handful of reasons. ]
If this helps everyone have a better life, I'm glad I can be a part of it. And I can talk to Paimon too about himself-- [ he looks at Luna as he says this, though he does eventually look back, ] --but, uh, right now, it's good for Peter to understand him too, even like this. Maybe you can both understand each other better. Even if you have issues--you have a reason to make things work.
[ ...and yeah, he's going to give a "subtle" glance in Luna's direction, for Peter. Words and a reminder to encourage Peter himself, and why he's here. What's happened to him will always be traumatic, right? A shitty situation.
But he has a life, fucked up as it's been made. Easy--and understandable--as it'd be to bury his head about Paimon, and just hate him.
But if this can make some difference, then Robby hopes it does, with or without him. He doesn't want Peter losing himself--any world would be an emptier place for it. ]

He hates to be the Voice of Doom, for an awkward beat wonders if he should have waited to say anything β at what point in the conversation do you bring up the uncomfortable thoughts of Demon Eavesdroppers, there is no wikiHow for this. But both Luna and Robby are quick to come in with reassurances, a squeeze to the knee and a smile that's soft and sympathetic. Both things matter, to him, and his breathing only stutters for a second or two, heart's frantic beats easing a little again.
He falls to listening, looking from one friend to the other. Luna calls him brave, and Robby tells him he deserves to feel like he belongs here, and Peter's exhaling quietly. Taking a moment to nod softly, teeth caught against his lip again for a moment. Robby's right about it being good for there to be more understanding, and those words are definitely a reminder as to why Peter has been trying more, to make things work, even if it's still not been.... enough. Even Paimon tried talking to him a few months ago, called some bizarre surreal house meeting, cast an illusion of himself outwards so Peter could talk to it, and he could.. barely get words out. (There was initially a lot of screaming involved, and he might have thrown his wallet at the Paimon-illusion.)
....He still has a long way to go. But this, this is a step, an important step. Talking about it with others, expanding his and Luna's circle outwards. Conversations with Peter being present instead of just... hiding away. He and Luna have been making things work, pretty well actually, and especially compared to the unrests of the past. But there's still... things that could be improved on, that could make it easier to exist like this. It's some weird thing that keeps changing, updating, because Paimon is changing and updating. And after the cocoon incident... it often feels like the demon is in threat of swallowing him up again, the way he used to be. )
Thank you. Bothβ I'm glad you're here.
( He's not alone, is the thought, again and again. A little smile sent to Robby, a hand moving to find Luna's free one and give a little squeeze. )
To be honest, I don't really know... how to understand him more. The way he thinks is so.... uh. Different. ( Peter speaks slowly, words weighted and oddly careful. He.... is extremely, uncomfortably mindful that he does not want to risk pissing Paimon off somehow, if the demon is listening. )
I mean, we don't really.... fight, like we used to. Sometimes, maybe, but... it's not like how it used to be. ( With the demon actively... attacking him on a regular basis. Peter looks over to Luna for a moment, as though for clarification that what he's saying is true, before glancing back to Robby. )
...He's tried to talk to me before, but it just wigs me out. No matter how much I try to be like... cool about it, I justβ the sound of him talking in my head, the way it feels, it.... I can't do it.
( ....Clearly, Peter remains the real problem here. )
sob i'm sorry this took so long to get back to
She's quiet as she listens to the two of them, nodding here and there in agreement. There's problems, yes. None of this is particularly easy. And certainly recent events have... brought things forwards. Things are changing. But they're trying to work things out here, and that's good. ]
He is an incredibly ancient entity. [ Her eyebrows raise at that. ] I would say it's reasonable for a being that predates most religions to be a little difficult to understand for some, but there's way to communicate with him once you work out the right words to help him understand. I'm sure you've noted that yourself, Robby. [ Paimon does require a certain way of being spoken with. Sometimes explaining things does need a little extra work, but it's certainly doable. ] Sometimes it's like... explaining things very simply, but not treating him as if he's a child. Re-introducing concepts he's already familiar with to help cement things.
[ There's a soft hum as Luna confirms Peter's admission on the two of them fighting less often these days. ]
There's... disagreements. But Paimon... does recognise Peter's place and right to be here. He knows what happened to Peter was wrong, that it shouldn't have happened at all. [ But they're... unfortunately stuck like this now. Even after Peter died in Deerington, having the two of them remain separated once he returned from death just... wasn't feasible. ] And there is the whole thing of the deal we made. Paimon was to stop trying to push Peter out. Peter's important to me, and he recognises that.
I do know that does mean I'm the one keeping the peace. I... know that puts a lot of it on me, but that was my choice.
[ ... Yeah, sorry Peter. She loves you, but you're... definitely the problem, here. ]
Paimon is very much open to talking to Peter. But... yes, that.
