Imperius had the sense to look ashamed at his momentary lapse in control. "I look out for my friends." Through strength he gained passion, and that included the passion to protect those he cared for. "Sidious had better prepare to find out what happens when Darth Imperius doesn't hold back."

Imperius knew things about the Force that his master couldn't possibly know, not with the amount of knowledge that had been lost over the years. That might have been enough to give them an advantage over him, allowing them to get rid of the old bastard for good.
