( he looks at her and then nods. )

But have you done that in the snow?

[ she asks it kindly and accentuates it with a slight arch to her brow and a small smile. she supposes space can be very cold... and very hot. the one time she had been on his ship, she hadn't thought to take note of the temperature. wanda wishes she had now. ]

[rocinantes]

No, I've done it in deep space with a bunch of other ships firing at us.

( much more difficult than the snow. )

[explosion]

[ is it, tho?

wanda looks to her car and then back to amos, studying him for a moment. if he says the car will be okay, then she has to believe that it will be. she nods to concede and keeps her arms wrapped around her. ]

If it has frostbite in the spring, you'll come fix it.

[ that wasn't a question, which becomes more evident with her pleased grin. ]

[rocinantes]

Cars don't get frostbite.

( he's not that dumb, wanda. )

[explosion]

[ how do you know, space weirdo?????

she huffs, shifting on her feet as she looks at him like he's a giant gnat. ]

The Trench snow might give it that. [ you never know!!!! ] Would you come and check on it every now and then?

[rocinantes]

If it's not pissing down snow, I can probably do that.

( but he's not going to freeze his ass off for it. )

Once a week, maybe?

[explosion]

[ she smiles, glancing away for a moment. she's pleased with that. she'd be pleased with once a month. all she wants is to make sure that this car, which has survived the drop from deerington to the trench, survives. and she trusts amos to help her break her bad luck in keeping anything whole.

she nods. ] Thank you.

[ and wrings her hands together. ]

Your ears are very red. Are you cold?

[rocinantes]

Well, kind of.

( he shrugs. )

It's fucking cold out here.

[explosion]

Did you want to go inside?

[ she twists on the spot, gesturing with her fingers toward the house. she smiles at him, the tip of her nose a pale red. ]

Or we can stay out here and watch the snow.

[rocinantes]

Are you going to worry about your car the entire time we're inside?

( because the car will be fine, wanda. )

[explosion]

[ she bites her bottom lip and curves the corners of her lips upward. she looks like she's up to something—and perhaps she is. ]

Will it annoy you if I do?

[rocinantes]

No, but I'll have to ignore you if you do.

( just as an fyi. )

[explosion]

[ she cocks her brow in amusement. well, that presents a very interesting challenge. ]

You could never ignore me.

[ wanda stands taller and tips her chin upward in determination. ]

I am unignorable.

[rocinantes]

Who told you that?

( if he needed to ignore someone, he could do it. )

They lied.

[explosion]

My children.

[ she widens her close-slipped smile, cocking her brow slightly. will he say her children lied? it's quite possible that they did—they did favour her quite a lot—but wanda likes this trap she's set up for him. ]

[rocinantes]

( oh, that's both smart and low. he can't say anything about that and she knows it.

well played. )

Fine, I guess maybe they were right.

[explosion]

[ wanda smiles, pleased at her easy win. with her hands clasped in front of her, she begins to walk away from the car and toward the house. her feet sink into the deep layer of snow. ]

I wish that they were here. [ she still smiles despite the pang in her chest. she wants them here more than anything. it'd make the trench feel more complete. ] I think they would have a lot of fun in the snow.

[ without looking around, she guides an invisible hand into digging into the snow behind amos. forming it into a clump, she magically tosses it at the back of his head. ]

[rocinantes]

Yeah.

( he doesn't really know what to say to that, how to really...comfort even if she doesn't seem to need comfort.

but he knows that it's hard. )

I'm sure they'd be building a snowman. Or throwing snowballs at me.

[explosion]

[ wanda looks at him innocently. ] Like this?

[ this time, she lifts her hand and red magic whips around her fingers. she easily picks up a clump of snow and forms it into a ball and throws it at him without needing to bend down to gather snow in her hands. ]

[rocinantes]

Yeah.

( his voice is dry as the snow slides off of him. )

Like that. I think they would have done it better.
