I'm um... [He huffed a sigh.] It's less... worse... than some. [He scrunched his face up, knowing that wasn't exactly what he wanted to say, but... well, close enough.]

[This has to be beyond frustrating. Especially for people who have ... something of a difficult time communicating in general. No offense, Keith, you've gotten a lot better but...]
You can nod, or shake your head, if that's easier.

He hadn't tried typing, yet.
He pursed his lips a little as he reached into his pocket and fished out his omni, glancing at it for a moment. He held it in both hands, like he was about to text something, hesitated, almost like he froze up for a second, and then shook his head.
Nope. It wasn't the speaking that was the problem. It was the thinking out of the words that was the problem.]

[He sighs, sympathetically. He's not really sure what can be done from here, except wait it out. Even then, it's going to be exceedingly frustrating for Keith, he's sure. But yes-or-no questions seem like they're working.]
We don't have to talk. Unless you feel up to charades or something, we can just sit.
no subject
He shook his head. No. Charades were really not his thing, either. And, if the issue was thinking of the words and not just expressing them, then that wasn't likely to be of much help, either. Neither would the signing gestures they'd all started using as Paladins. If he couldn't think of the word in the first place, then he certainly wouldn't be able to figure out how to make a gesture or something to try communicating it.]
It's... [He waved his hand, then puffed another short sigh as he let it drop back to the counter with a thud. It was fiiiine. He'd deal. He was good at avoiding people, anyway.]
no subject
[Even though it's really not his fault. There's not much he could do about it. But he knows it makes things even harder for Keith, which he doesn't want. Not in the least. If there were a way to mitigate the blood effects, he'd have passed it on.]
[The honey doesn't work for that.]
If you want to come hang out with me and the kids sometime, you're welcome to. You don't really have to talk while you're there. A lot of the kids will just talk and talk... they just want someone to listen while they do.
[It's all he can really think to offer in the moment. Somewhere Keith could exist without having to hide from people.]
no subject
Yeah. [He appreciated the thought.] Thanks.
[But, he did consider that. Just having someone ramble and talk at him probably wasn't a bad idea. It wasn't like he couldn't understand other people. There definitely seemed to be some people out there having that issue, too. So, he supposed he was kind of lucky that it was only affecting his ability to get words out.]
Not a... [Good... good...] Not a... not good... idea? [The word Keith was looking for here was 'bad'. "Not a bad idea."]
no subject
[Keith, listen, this guy is fluent in You Speak. He understands. No need to elaborate there.]
No pressure, okay? Just an option if you feel up to it. [He pauses, draining the coffee, and letting his eyes close for a second.] I even think some of the kids don't talk much themselves.
You'd be in good company, either way.
no subject
Not that he minded, honestly. Sometimes, it was nice to not think about anything else than just watching one of the kids draw.]
Yeah. [He nodded.] It'll be okay.
no subject
Even if we just have to wait this out. [He reaches out, and clasps Keith on the shoulder.] These things always sort out on their own. And while we wait, there's options.
[Heck, if Shiro himself has to stay with him and translate all month, he damn well will do exactly that.]
no subject
But he nodded. Yeah. They had options.]
Thanks.
[That was one of the good things about having Shiro here... and Lance, and Adam. They understood him well enough that he really didn't have to say a lot.]
no subject
You know it.
[Now please excuse him while he drains this coffee like his life depends on it.]
