And what fourteen-year-old boy far from home and with a power that most people don't have, can't do with hearing that?
Robby doesn't expect it to get the reaction it does, though.
He's not inclined in any way to power, though his chi training with Sasuke might-- no, actually, sorry, he's useless at this stuff. To Robby there's just a rush, a sensation that makes him move backwards for something that can't be moved away from. He doesn't know what Mob's doing, and admittedly, there is a confusion, a panic.
And then there's what happens outside of Robby's own mind and around them. The smashed windows, the dormant plants being given a second lease at life, and Robby feels--far, far too exhilarated, dizzying so. Mob's blue looks fantastically blue, and even as that power dies away, the glass fitting itself back into place, the world just seems so --
loud.
Robby is left staring at Mob, baffled into silence. Even his omen is watching the group with confusion. ]
...Sure.
[ okay. yes. contact the person, they can do that. ] I'll message Tory...and we can get out of here?
[ Said, with a look back at the glass...that's in its window, but. Still.
(He hasn't even noticed the new length to his hair, or his nails, at that.
But then--there's a few adjustments that will take time for Robby to realise.) ]

it's cathartic, it always is. a weight off, even as shame tugs at him for letting it get like this. nowhere near actually losing full control, those he doesn't remember at all until he comes to, but enough. his legs feel a little wobbly, drained from the power used. the bubble they're in is still warm like a nice spring day and will probably remain warm and blooming for quite a long time, or until the trench or a pthumerian override it.
he glances to robby after assessing things again quickly (the windows looked pretty now, like stained glass kinda, but he still broke them. did he have to pay to get them fixed back to normal now? did people even live around here?) and he notices that longer hair. it makes him blink, unaware that was something he could do. a shame, hanazawa probably would have appreciated that after the whole shaved head thing.
mob nods to that, starting forward with his omen sticking close to his side this time. leaving the bubble is when he glances over again]
S-sorry, about... that. And your hair. It looks nice like this though. [he attempts. at least he could just cut it?? still probably rude to shove a bunch of psychic power into someone and make their hair grow without asking.]
no subject
He doesn't even know what Mob means right away, focusing on that -- and he touches his head with a 'huh?', and feels properly the way it's hanging now. The strands are longer, and he isn't really sure what to think about that. Honestly-- ]
Are you okay, Mob? [ --now is really the time to talk about what's important. ] Is that what happens? When you use your powers?
[ There's nothing accusatory, just a consideration: is that the problem? Because maybe it wasn't bad, but -- if that's going to happen each time, they sure need to be careful, don't they?
(Oh, he should text Tory. See about getting Obi-Wan's contact from her.) ]
no subject
Um... [this is something he needs a moment to think about how to answer. walking through the snow, shibe watching out for them both with comical fierceness.] Not when I use them, exactly. My powers are tied to my emotions. The stronger my emotions are the more uh- the more things like that happen.
I was just- [another pause. being open about this sort of stuff is weird, but he feels like robby deserves as much honesty as he can manage.] I've been really scared, I guess, since coming here. But you made me feel better, and have been so nice, it all sort of... came out like that.
no subject
It's--good however, to hear he's been helping. Robby doesn't need the validation, but he has been worried about the kid showing up here from his own home; no family, no friends, in a city like this. It's a second chance for some people, but others? No one deserves this place.
But they get it anyway, whether they do or don't. ]
If you ever start feeling like that, [ he starts, a situation like this kind of new, but-- he slows to a stop, just briefly, for this. ] --You can call me, alright? I won't lie, it can get tough around here, but if you think you need to get out of something, or need somewhere to let it out? We'll find something. Until you can get a better hold of it.
[ Something's going to happen, surely. He hasn't even met the beasts, the assholes that grab people. But Robby looks at him now, hoping, hoping he can help that future Mob for whatever's to come. ]
But whatever happens, we'll figure it out. No matter how bad it gets.
no subject
I know I should probably learn to be more comfortable using them here too. [he glances at his hand and isn't sure how to start with that in the slightest. well. maybe one way, as he glances back to robby.] Making you stronger wasn't bad at all. And you know what to do with power like that.
I guess I mean if you need that help you can call me too? [he doesn't think this is at all a fair trade, but he supposes helping people isn't really a transaction. robby's definitely doing more for him by a lot.]
no subject
Sure -- you think that'd help you practice? If you don't get to give people cool moves to fight with often, you could ask Mister LaRusso, or some people at the dojo. It can be a part of your training?
Maybe there's other cool ways you can learn to use it.
[ The possibilities might be endless, with what Robby's learning about his powers from 'oh I do exorcises, please imagine The Exorcist' (and guess what wasn't like The Exorcist at all!) ]
no subject
I think it could. Maybe... maybe it could help people learn their own powers better. [that seems like a far off dream, but it's nice to imagine.]
I guess I should ask sensei what he thinks. I was going to maybe ask him about all of this. I was hoping learning inner balance might help with um.
[a glance backwards. a glance at robby's fabulous new hair. yes, that.]
no subject
You should talk to him about it. Another teacher can't hurt if the other guy turns out to be any good, too -- you should find out what works for you.
[ It's important!! But also, maybe important: ]
Where were you headed to anyway, before all that happened? [ A wave back the way they came. ] I'm here now; I'll take you.
[ Maybe they were even going the same way?? ]
no subject
[it'll be easier, now that he's told robby and it went so well. his confidence certainly got a little boost from that. robby is the truest bro.
ah right, what was he doing? he considers a moment before remembering,] Oh, I was looking for something for Jun. He's part of the dojo too? He said he's recovering from being hurt and hasn't gone out much, so I thought he must be pretty bored.
I didn't really have a plan I guess. [he Wandered. it was not a good idea, sorry about him.] Weren't you doing something though?
[before fighting zombie coyotes for a 14 year old in a tree. normal day.]
no subject
[ There's certainly no gameboys. ... Which, with a pause and somewhat half-joking: ]
Worse comes to worst, I'll ask Tory to make a gameboy. She probably played pokémon.
[ Gotta catch them all??? ]
no subject
[makes one wonder what christmas shopping in the trench looks like. spooky, i guess. either way mention of tory's power has mob looking up at the sky to seriously say:]
Her power is really cool. [gameboy conjuring? what more could you want from a superpower.] I think Jun would like that. It has sea creatures, sort of.
[and he takes a moment to picture jun as a water type gym leader. fitting.]
no subject
[ Simple, easy. There's a few other things he wants to check out, but going around crafts shops with Mob should be fun enough. Maybe the kid can find some stuff in them for Jun, too.
As for a gameboy: ] I can ask. We'd have to round over to the orphanage if she can, but maybe we can get one for you each. Do some trading? [ Ha. ] Okay, I can't promise that much. But I'll send a text.
no subject
[he does not know her but robby is obviously friends with her and those shoes were great. that and he feels a level of empathy with anyone who also had wanky powers causing trouble without meaning to.
so, add this soldier to the fight.] I'd like to help. Maybe I can get something for Miss Makima too.
[and robby, and sensei. hm. probably not with robby around for the first one, he's pretty sure it's supposed to be a surprise.]
Only if she can. I bet her power is pretty tiring to use. [how much mental energy does it take to make a gameboy, the age old question.]
no subject
I was surprised people would celebrate it here, but I guess it's a good excuse for presents. [ Ah. ] There was a Japanese one a pair had here with everyone the start of the month. The Rinne festival? You heard of that one?
[ Have you heard about a Naruto festival, Mob?? At least this directs their steps towards Cellar Door -- the best district for shopping. Hopefully, enough places would be open. ]
no subject
I guess when things are so dramatic all the time it's nice to have fun things. I like the idea of giving people presents too, everyone's very nice here. [they deserve some gifts. also asking mob his weeb status, truly. then again can you be a weeb if you are also an anime character.] Rinne? No, I haven't. This time of year we don't celebrate much besides the new year. Some people get chicken and cake for christmas though.
[at least the snow isn't too high right now, and walking into the more shop-centric area of cellar door has mob looking around curiously. and immediately point out a window with some very trench typical creepy dolls in them.] Those are haunted.
[said with the small smile of a kid having a good time window shopping. this was fun.]
no subject
[ He doesn't want to say, You should go next year, since do either of them want to think about that possibility? Even if from what Robby knows, there's no going back anywhere except for the sea.
But he's not going to say everyone should think about this like him, and instead--
and instead there's haunted dolls for Robby to make a ??? face at, and wonder in a quick four seconds
(haunted?
by what
do i want to know?
i don't want to know) ]
Okay, [ okay, ] unless I remember someone who likes spooky stuff, I'll skip them. You don't have a sixth sense for good deals, do you?
[ Joking, but also?? Tell a pal if u do, Mob. ]
no subject
[and he takes a moment to space out thinking about festivals, how they'd look here, if they'd be fun. there's a stinging feeling of how he wouldn't get to go to bon with ritsu again, maybe ever. no reigen giving him a meager bonus and telling him to have fun, no thinking about asking tsubomi one year.
bummer. he pushes the thoughts down. (5%) maybe he could go with robby and jun to one instead. (2%)
one of the dolls absolutely has that 'my eyes follow you specifically robby everywhere' vibe going on so. probably better to ignore it.]
No. [sorry robby, he is a sucker. a little better than he used to be but still pretty high in the 'will overpay for everything' category.] That would be way more useful than making things float. [the solemn truth.]
no subject
Suuure, but I bet you could have fun with floating stuff. Good for shows. [ That'd be fun, and he almost considers mentioning he could make some (craft) fish float for Jun, but that wouldn't last for long. But actually: ] Hey, you said about sea creatures before. Does he like them? You two could watch some movies; but we can still get him something.
[ There is a craft store still open with windows showing this and that, and Robby nods for Mob to follow him inside. Let's take a look at their hopefully not haunted stitchings!! ]
no subject
I used to make dogs float. [informative. the good old days.] Yes, he says he wants to study them. He's going to let me borrow a book on it- oh.
[a craft store, that seemed so normal in comparison to a lot of their afternoon. he follows, and makes no comment about haunted knitting needles so? maybe it's fine? instead he's looking over everything, resisting the very real urge to touch some of the softer looking things.
there's at least one clunky scarf with squids on it, which like is that rude or supportive to sleepers, who knows.]
no subject
But so is about fish...can they find anything fish like in here? Robby doubts them getting very specific, but at least this craft shop is packed. Does the owner know that Sleepers are likely to be looking for gifts? There's some scarfs, and Robby's making his way along shelves with pottery work: jars, shaped 'normally' and some like animals. Candleholders, and the candle themselves nearby, smelling up their spot on the shelf. Look at these hanging friends.
Oh, look. If and when Mob comes over- or Robby can just hold up one of the fish himself with a 'hey, look at this' that's fun that really necessary of a closer look - he'll suggest: ]
You could grab him whatever and just watch documentaries or some movies on the omni. Cake still makes people feel better when they're down, right?
[ He's not too old himself to know the real magical remedy to all ills, is he? (robby you're seventeen) ]
no subject
he puts it back down and goes over to robby, stopping only to lightly poke at the hanging jellyfish (they clink together with a nice sound! maybe jun would like that?) before looking at the little fish robby found. his mouth makes a little o to see them, moving over to pick one up.]
They're like little plates. [bland of course, but pleased in his way. the glaze is smooth too, and mob begins the process of looking over each very carefully, breaking concentration only to nod and look at robby.] Hm, I think so. I wonder what kind of cake he likes. We always get chocolate.
[no robby's onto something here, how can cake not fix most things? he picks up the roundest and, probably, the funkiest looking of the fish, staring at it for a long few moments before lifting it to robby for his verdict.]
no subject
But he looks back as Mob seems to specific a particular one (surely the funniest one is the one with the dotty body), and Robby smiles with an approving cock of his head. He then looks to the others, and picks up another round one, with the straighter lines. ]
You could say they're plates to put the cakes on. [ Now that's an idea. ] Hey, not bad. Then you both have a special plate whenever you visit.
[ A plate each. That's cute. Reminds him of the few times he went shopping with his mom and they got matching so-and-sos. ]
no subject
oh a pair- mob looks between them, nodding, that small, placid quirk to his lips. it's nice to imagine being a guest enough that he had his own little plate. sort of plate.] I like that. I hope he will too.
[but oh right, robby's looking for stuff.] Does Tory like deer? [a nod to the figurine. he is going to help, he is Determined. they'll find something great just like these plates.]
no subject
I don't know what she likes, actually. Her omen's some kind of lizard...maybe dragon? [ He puts down the miniature deer. ] But I've got her a gift. I wanna get something for some other people. I was thinking a pair of birds for two who got together, and, uh...
[ Uhhh. He makes a faux wincing face at Mob before long. ]
Maybe a tub of fudge if I can't think of anything for everyone else?
[ He's so bad....at gift buying... ]
