Welcome to the Raccoon Room!
Code
You find a green door on a townhouse nestled in the middle of a long, cute cobblestoned street. There's a raccoon logo emblazoned on the door. When you enter, you're greeted by sumptuous green velvet drapery, a marble statue of a familiar looking guy with devil horns on his head, and surly ticket taker (Mako, rather unhappily wearing a Victorian style vampire outfit, including vampire fangs) who will make sure that you're paying your fair share for your ticket. That's either a nice rock, a nice shell, or a beautiful feather. If you don't have anything that's worth the right amount, he'll ask for more, or give you drink tickets if you over paid. Does Mako know what makes a feather beautiful? Who knows. It's all subjective here.
You enter the venue through heavy velvet curtains. The light is dim, there are tables scattered everywhere with plush chairs and flickering candles. It's a large room, but it feels intimate. You find a seat, get a drink, or take a look around.
At 8:00pm sharp, the show begins, with Wu, dressed in his grown, flowering top hat, made by Fern, and an impeccable green tuxedo with tails, a gold cape and fake vampire teeth, takes the mic.
"Welcome, welcome to the Raccoon Room! I'm so, so, so glad that you're all here. Things are dreary and dangerous outside, but in here, sit back, relax, and enjoy yourselves."
And with that, he waves the first performer on.
Throughout the night, you'll see Scorpia and Zari Tarazi sing, Fritter (Wu's raccoon omen) and Pabu the fire ferret perform tricks, and the headliner, Ryan Akagi of Chicken Choice Judy, rock out. Wu comes up between the sets and vamps, makes jokes, and applauds the performers, adding plugs to come talk to him if you want to perform.
Over at the bar, Mako's moved on from taking tickets to making drinks. You can order any old beer, wine, or cocktail, or the Jade Dragon, a speciality absinthe cocktail Mako created for the Raccoon Room.
Feel free to top level, make your own night of it! Your esteemed host will be a bit preoccupied, but this space is for Sleepers to come, enjoy themselves, and mingle.
If your character wants to perform, let Wu know.

Luz wished she was as good as Varian, and would listen to a whole show of just him singing, but knew better than to say that. To him singing was a hobby: what he was actually good at, what he loved, was what he was doing right now, and she respected that.
"I know about Jenn's place, I've been seeing movies there! I...don't know how Charlie is, and at this point I think I might be afraid to ask, as his reputation seems to precede him. I'm glad you're making sure this place is in shape though! I can't see it failing with you at the helm."
no subject
And that was that. Singing was just a normal part of life back home (and not one HERE, which was weird to him) he's never given it much of a thought at all. Not when there's a science to do.
"He's...a handful. I think he's a nice guy, really, he's just weird. He reminds me of a friend back home," which is exactly why Varian puts up with the insane bullshit Charlie does. "Thanks! I'm gonna do my best, anyway. I think we all need a space like this, don't want it falling apart."
no subject
But if he thought that she had a good voice, even close to his, who was she to argue?
"I'll take your word for it. I still haven't met Charlie myself, I just hear things. I'm sure he's probably an OK guy too. Every body in this place probably looks a little weird to someone else anyway, right? But good on you for hooking this place up! It looks nice so far, and I'm sure they appreciate you tending to some of the technical side of things!"
no subject
Seen as neither side will give quarter, they can meet in the middle.
"He eats paint. And cement. And yet somehow neither of those things have killed him, it's weird," he doesn't understand Charlie and he feels he never will. "And yeah! I'm happy to help. Wu and Mako are really nice guys, they've helped me so much, I wanna be able to do something nice for them too you know?"
no subject
She'd take what she could get, which, in this case, was a compliment she hadn't even asked for.
"So he's a Vileblood?" She was guessing, because Luca had been eating stuff like that and he seemed ok. That what she hoped Varian was saying, anyway. "Well sure, I get that. I've only met Wu once but we got along well enough, and Mako's always helping people. Kinda nice to help them out for once!"
no subject
"I don't know what blood he is now, but he was drinking pain in the dream," sorry, Luz, he's here to crush your hopes. "So no, it's not a blood thing. It's a weird Charlie thing.
He smiles, nodding- because this is much less troubling a conversation piece.
"I owe them a lot. They were both really supportive when they found out about my..." he twists his hand fairly in the air. "...Whole thing. And I wouldn't have half as much control on my abilities right now if it wasn't for Mako."
no subject
"You meet some interesting people the more you talk to strangers," Luz managed to say, trying not to think of the implications of imbuing the things Varian was just talking about and doing her best not to judge crazy pants actions like that. "Maybe the Vile blood makes it so he doesn't die from it?"
Grasping at straws at that point.
"They're both really great people from what I've seen! They were helping out a lot during the last months of Deerington, and Korra told me about how active they were in trying to get supplies for others. I'll admit that I'm a little more familiar with Korra than them though, since she was helping me when I was having my whole thing."
no subject
He tries not to think about it anymore. It just hurts his head.
"Korra's a friend, to be sure- but I've known Mako a lot longer. I um... we've been through a lot together. But I'm really glad they're all still here."
no subject
Cool. Ok. More crazy things. Why not?
"Of course you have. Hasn't Mako been in Deerington longer than Korra has, or am I wrong? Then again, I might have just met and connected with Korra first. I'm with you though: I'm glad there are more of them from their own world. It's comforting to have that."
no subject
Just another crazy thing to add to the crazy pile.
"Um, I think Mako's been here longer? But I got to know Korra after I knew Mako, soo opposite of you, really. But yeah. It's easier to have someone from home...though...stressful, too. Always worried about them."
no subject
Yup, that was definitely a character, but Luz liked people who challenged her perception of things, even if that meant he should definitely have died!
"Actually, I also met Mako first. But after that was when I really started living at the house with Eda and Margot, so I didn't see Mako awhile, and right before Eda left, I met Korra. We vibed and she definitely helped me with dealing when Eda woke up."
no subject
"I'm really glad that she was able to help you."
no subject
Wu seemed really great too.
"I was really lucky to get to know her! I have to go and hang out with her again! It's been a little while since we lived together."
