You find a green door on a townhouse nestled in the middle of a long, cute cobblestoned street. There's a raccoon logo emblazoned on the door. When you enter, you're greeted by sumptuous green velvet drapery, a marble statue of a familiar looking guy with devil horns on his head, and surly ticket taker (Mako, rather unhappily wearing a Victorian style vampire outfit, including vampire fangs) who will make sure that you're paying your fair share for your ticket. That's either a nice rock, a nice shell, or a beautiful feather. If you don't have anything that's worth the right amount, he'll ask for more, or give you drink tickets if you over paid. Does Mako know what makes a feather beautiful? Who knows. It's all subjective here.

You enter the venue through heavy velvet curtains. The light is dim, there are tables scattered everywhere with plush chairs and flickering candles. It's a large room, but it feels intimate. You find a seat, get a drink, or take a look around.

At 8:00pm sharp, the show begins, with Wu, dressed in his grown, flowering top hat, made by Fern, and an impeccable green tuxedo with tails, a gold cape and fake vampire teeth, takes the mic.

"Welcome, welcome to the Raccoon Room! I'm so, so, so glad that you're all here. Things are dreary and dangerous outside, but in here, sit back, relax, and enjoy yourselves."

And with that, he waves the first performer on.

Throughout the night, you'll see Scorpia and Zari Tarazi sing, Fritter (Wu's raccoon omen) and Pabu the fire ferret perform tricks, and the headliner, Ryan Akagi of Chicken Choice Judy, rock out. Wu comes up between the sets and vamps, makes jokes, and applauds the performers, adding plugs to come talk to him if you want to perform.

Over at the bar, Mako's moved on from taking tickets to making drinks. You can order any old beer, wine, or cocktail, or the Jade Dragon, a speciality absinthe cocktail Mako created for the Raccoon Room.

Feel free to top level, make your own night of it! Your esteemed host will be a bit preoccupied, but this space is for Sleepers to come, enjoy themselves, and mingle.

[The dopey grin brings one of his own to Varian's lips. It's a nice little moment, he's enjoying himself. ]

He really did. I think this place is gonna be a real nightspot for people.

[He is absolutely welcoming of more dates. He glances around them.]

Well, if you can get that big cable attached to that speaker up there [he points at a long, thick cable on the groun] I can get everything else done pretty quickly. It's heavy and it takes forever with the leg and needing a ladder and everything.

[Also maybe he just wants to watch his boyfriend carry something heavy. Maybe he just wants to watch that.]

[He nods eagerly at this. Oh yeah, the Raccoon Room is definitely going to be a hoppin' spot.

Glancing over, Fern's gaze moves from the cable up to the speaker. Right, probably not the easiest for Varian, but it'll be easy for himself. His dopey grin turns a little more serious as he pulls a hand away, flexing that arm.]

Sure, that's no prob!

[He steps away from Varian, pulling the goggles perched on top of his head over his eyes, before trotting over to the cable and hefting it up. Holding it in one hand, he's just going to go ahead and ignore every safety regulation ever and start clambering up equipment and whatever looks remotely climbable until he's all the way up at the speaker. Then, leaning around, he plugs it in, and gives Varian a little thumbs up.]

[Despite saying he was going to "work on something" while Fern did this, he categorically does not do that. He watches Fern pull the goggles over his eyes and that about does it for him. He has a soft oh no, that's cute rolling around in his head and he's doomed.

So he watches Fern climb (definitely unsafely) up the rigging to do his task, Varian watching him with...honestly pretty unabashed awe. He likes his very strong and agile boyfriend. He likes him very very much. When Fern plugs it in and gives him the thumbs up, he blinks, face flushing because wow he sure was staring a lot.]

Cool. Cool, cool. Thank you.

[He clears his throat, turning his now extremely blushing face into finishing off the last pieces he needs to do. He played himself. ]

[Varian has absolutely played himself here. Fern doesn't notice the staring until he's plugged the speaker in, since he was focused on the climbing at all, but oh boy is that expression pretty blatant. Even from up there he can see, and he can't help grinning a little. This is a prime opportunity to be a jerk, and he's going to take it.

Jumping straight off the rigging, he does a little flip in midair and lands lightly on his feet like it's no big deal. Then he rests his hands on his hips, goggles still over his eyes, looking more than a little smug.]

What happened to having other stuff to do?

[Varian's basic-ass ways are always going to trip him up and right now is no exception. He turns his head to watch Fern do his little flip- landing perfectly as a little oh no sounds in the back of his head. He kind of regrets not adding gloves to his costume now because he realises his hands are kinda sweaty. Even more so as Fern just calls him out on all that.

He pointedly clears his throat, looking very frazzled as he turns back to the thing he was working on- shit was it something to do with a screwdriver? He's forgotten. His brain is just replaying the flip over and over unhelpfully. ]

Uhm. I am doing it. Right now. Yup. This is me. Doing...the stuff.

['The stuff' involves trying to use a screwdriver on fresh air, but that still counts as stuff. ]

[Varian couldn't be more obvious if he tried, and it's equal parts hilarious and endearing. Hilarious, because this is one of the few times Fern's ever gotten one over on the other boy, and endearing because... well, just look at him! He's so cute! He's using a screwdriver on the air and looks like he wants to either crawl into a hole forever or make out or both.

Fern isn't used to making someone else feel like this, so it's kind of exciting for him. He doesn't remove the goggles from his eyes as he walks back on over.]

Cool, 'cause you looked like you were doing a whoooole bunch of staring.

[Fern can enjoy his blatantly obvious victory this day. Varian definitely wants a solid mixture of both those things- he's waiting to see which one wins out. The goggles are still over Fern's eyes and this makes the whole experience even more awkward.

Varian at least notices he's using the screwdriver on nothing, nearly drops the thing in that realisation and then lets out a too-loud laugh, looking pointedly at the speaker he was "working" on. ]

W-what? Nope. Noooooo. I definitely wasn't staring. Or thinking about how strong you are. Or being impressed by your little flip.

[He definitely was doing all of that.]

[Oh Glob, Varian is making this even better. Fern's grin widens at the screwdriver nearly getting dropped, and that being followed up with some very excellent compliments. They make him want to be kind of mean, really milk this while he has the chance....

So he does.]

Oh, okay. So you won't care if I do this -

[And by 'this' he means stepping all up in Varian's space so he can go ahead and scoop him up into his arms. Yeah, that just happened.]

[Varian was absolutely not expecting the scoop, and the noise he makes as Fern does it is almost comical- his little gangly arms flailing in surprise. If he wasn't blushing already, he sure is now - oh boy, oh geez. ]

N-no. Nope. I dooooooon't care at all. That. That you've done that. Nope.

[He very much and very cleary cares about this a lot. ]

[Fern is doing his absolute best to not crack up laughing. Varian's expression is perfect, just totally perfect, and thankfully making all this easier is the fact that the alchemist is acting so flustered because of his feelings towards him. It's cool, it's amazing, his nonexistent heart feels like it's going to explode.]

Nope? Not even a tiny bit?

[..... He still can't help grinning at all this.]

[This is so cruel, so unusual. He laughs that too-loud HAH of his when he's really been caught out in something embarrassing. ]

N...noooooope. Not even a tiny bit. No sir.

[Damn, he's forgotten what they were arguing about. ]

This is fine.

[It's really terrible and he knows he should lay off Varian, but he also wants to push this as far as he can. It may or may not be a little bit of vengeance for that year of 'I told you so's.

He holds his boyfriend a little closer, leaning in.]

That's cool, then. I thought you might wanna kiss or something, but I guess not.

[Varian completely and utterly deserves this. This is a comeuppance that's been a long time coming.

Varian's breath audibly catches when Fern leans in - which is doing nothing for his this is fine thing he's trying and failing to pull off. ]

W...well I wouldn't say that...exactly.

[Comeuppance is a wonderful thing. Fern knows this is rare, so he's relishing it.]

Huh?

[And then he does the cruelest thing ever - he goes ahead and puts Varian down.]

Well, you said you still got some work to do, so hurry up and finish it and we can have our date. [Grinning smugly, he waves towards the way out to the front of house.] I got us a table, so when you're done you can meet me over there, okay?

[Wow, Varian was not expecting to just be put down. He blinks stupidly for a moment, mouth opening and closing as he tries to understand what in the fuck just happened to him. ]

Wh-

[No :( He wanted the opposite of this :( :(

He reaches out to grip Fern's wrist before he can leave, tugging him closer, face still very much flushed. ]

Arschloch.

[Fern can have some muttered, flustered Coronan before Varian leans in for a kiss. Plant boy definitely won this round. ]

[Yep :) Sorry boyfriendo, but he's absolutely putting Varian down :) this is happening and he needs to deal with it.

Fern gets to be thrilled with Varian's reaction for all of one minute, and it's a great one minute. It's not a look he gets to see often, so he's going to treasure this forever.

Except as he turns his wrist is grabbed, and then Varian is kissing him, and he feels a whole burst of emotions. Mostly triumph, but also happy that they actually do get to kiss, since he obviously wanted to do it before. He grins into the kiss, smooching the other boy back and wrapping his arms around him.

Heck yeah, he totally won this.]

[Fern can enjoy this victory, for it is all his today. Varian will definitely find a way to get revenge for this- he won't let these sort of shenanigans stand. But for now, he's absolutely going to do that, his hands moving to Fern's back, tugging him a little closer into it. ]

You're the worst.

[That's mumbled, in a very unconvincing tone, against Fern's lips. ]

[Yep, anyone who comes by is going to see them looking especially lovey-dovey and not at the tail of a really terrible prank of vengeance. Fern even sprouts a few more cherry blossoms.]

I know I am. But you're cute when you're flustered.

[He knows this means war and he's totally okay with it.]

[People would get such the wrong impression. The cherry blossoms would not help with the look, either. Varian snorts lightly, breaking the kiss to press one at the corner of Fern's mouth.]

I'm gonna get you back for that, you understand.

[It absolutely means war. This will not stand. ]

[Fern snickers, completely and utterly believing that threat.]

Oh yeah, I'm going to regret doing this.

[He's doomed. He knows he's doomed. He still presses another light kiss to Varian's lips anyways.]

Buuut I'm gonna enjoy being victorious until that happens.

My revenge is going to be extensive.

[He's already plotting it, he huffs softly, leaning in to kiss Fern's jawline lightly.]

So enjoy your victory while you can. It's gonna be short-lived.
