01. ) ARMS RACE

//////////////////////////////// SHAPE OF BLOOD ////

( This place — all of Trench, really — is so far beyond Genjiro's sense of normal that he spends quite a deal of time just learning in libraries and archives. He feels less than equipped, though; maybe, it occurs to him, that he needs a weapon of some sort.

So he takes to Prufrock — specifically, the weapons shop.

But he's a little lost, needless to say. Still, he speaks to someone nearby with relative ease, despite the hammering in his chest over having to speak to anyone at all. )

Excuse me — do you have a moment?

[Ruby Rose may own her own weapon shop- But it certainly never stopped her from stopping by to gush at other ones in Prufrock. What could she say? She was a nerd for them through and through.

She gives a little jump when she suddenly hears his voice. He wasn't the only one who was a little socially awkward.]

Uh- Yeah! Sure!

01. ) FEAR AND LOATHING

//////////////////////////////// PALE SANCTUARY ////

( He's after respite; the blood-thick tree doesn't offer much, but it's still something. Genjiro is all nerves, running his hands up and down his upper arms in search of warmth on top of safety and rest.

He's been caught between districts on the way home, it seems. With having to wait things out, he doesn't figure anyone else would be around. He startles visibly at the sight of them. )

Sorry, I ... You scared me.

( He doesn't sound relieved at all, even after the startle response. )

02. ) STAY FROSTY

( Genjiro lies heaving on the sidewalk, laid shivering and exhausted at all the effort.

He really is having a go of it.

But a ragged sort of laugh escapes him as he breathes, gathers himself. The paleblood fear has seemingly subsided, at least a little. He turns to the person next to him. )

I didn't think we'd make it out of that.

( And then he laughs again — relief at last, it seems. )

03. ) BLOODLUST

( With the streets even more unsafe than usual, Genjiro only goes outside when necessary; of course there's an attacker right as he decides to step out.

He's not particularly fast or agile, but thankfully the figure behind him seems to more slower than he does. He's just trying to get home, but this thing is making him backtrack.

Genjiro is all panic as he ducks into an alley, clutching a knife to his chest, feeling small, feeling useless. )

01. ) GHOST OF YOU

( Genjiro can barely register Sheliak beside him when he sees Kakeru Miyoshi's face. He sets his jaw as the man confined to memory lifts up a kid of thirteen up onto his shoulder like he's nothing. There's a spot of dead flesh over his face, making him look a little like a mismatched panda. He's every bit as charismatic and gravitational as Genjiro remembers him and, God, that laugh as the kid kicks and protests against being picked up.

There's four of them standing in a small circle as Genjiro and Sheliak watch, including a ten-years-younger version of Genjiro himself. He looks younger. Happier.

"Get off me, frizzy! 'nless you wanna get bit!"

"You're the least scary thing around, Gara! Hah, I think Yuki's scarier than you are."

"Alright now, hush. We have that live to prepare for, don't we?" )

Aah ... This is ...

( His voice trails off as he chokes up. )

I live! Sorry I'm so late

[Sheliak's frozen eyes narrowed in subtle confusion at the happy scene in front of him. This wasn't his memory. There was nothing special about it, aside from perhaps the odd scar on the man's face, but something about it drew him in. He couldn't remember a time when anyone picked him up like that when he was a child. It was a trivial complaint and he brushed it aside when Genjiro's voice reminded him he wasn't alone.]

I take it this is your memory?

[There was a subtle hint of an accusation in his calm tone. He had hoped to see Arrakis again, not waste his time with someone else's past struggles.]
