And you know, Sunny, [ she folds her hands neatly into her lap and crosses her legs. she still has that in-office habit. ] It’s okay to acknowledge something is too much for you to handle. The stress of choice is harder than any other.

When that happens, what would you do?

[Sunny regards her for a long few moments after she says that, mildly surprised by the question. Mainly because it's both an easy question to answer what he used to do and a hard one to answer what he thinks he should do now.

His brow furrows lightly.]

I used to go to that place in my head, when I couldn't handle things. But I missed out on a lot of my life and I hurt people by doing that. [He glances downward.] So now I- If something is too much for me to handle I'd... ask for help.

That’s a smart choice. And a healthy one.

[ technically, she’s proud!! what a good boy. he knows team work. perhaps the most important, though . . . ]

You don’t have to make difficult choices alone.

[Makima's response eases Sunny. Having approval that he was doing the right thing was reassuring.

He exhales gently and nods.]

Right. Thank you. [He pauses for a moment.] I'm grateful that I was able to meet you, and that you've been kind enough to let me stay here.

[ aw, sunny! there’s nothing more sweet to hear from a talking dog. she goes back to stroking his head. ]

Oh, Sunny . . . Of course. Thank you for keeping me company. [ she’s liking that more than you would think. ] If you want to go play with Mob, I’ll take it from here.

[ she cups the boy’s face then, smoothing her thumbs across the corners of his cheeks. so cute. ]

I’ll call you both when it’s ready.

[good_mourning]

[Makima's movements- stroking his head, smoothing his cheeks- make Sunny's heart flutter. Far from any romantic interest it was simply... nice to have physical affection.

He had next to no interaction with people for years and he was only starting to understand how much he'd missed it. This was such a pleasant, warm feeling.

His cheeks redden a little as he nods.]

Okay. Thank you again, Miss Makima. [And with some hesitation he does leave to kitchen to search out Mob.]

You're welcome.

[ she would watch as he leaves, with a smile that maintains as sweet as it was. it's only her eyes that change behind his back— because she likes what she causes. she doesn't care for what kind of admiration she may cause. as long as it's admiration, it soothes her, and makes her ponder over what else she should do to keep that up. anything, really.
