( well, he's definitely not going to make her kiss him or anyone. )

We don't have to.

[explosion]

[ wanda smacks his arm lightly. ] I will blow your mind.

[ she looks at him pointedly then before she smiles and shakes her head. it's stupid to feel nervous. it's just a kiss, most likely a peck, and a way to bring in the new year in a way she hasn't done so for a very long time. ]

I don't want to ruin you for everyone else.

[rocinantes]

Oh yeah?

( well, now he really does want to kiss her if she's going to talk herself up. he smirks. )

Well, we're gonna find out if you're telling the truth in about three minutes.

[explosion]

I am! [ she exclaims it indignantly. ] I've never had any complaints before!

[ granted, a boy she kissed in sokovia was punched by pietro, and the other man had been vision who never complained when it came to her. wanda knows she can talk a big game, but she doesn't think kissing her will be too awful.

she'd never want to ruin his start to a brand new year, after all. ]

[rocinantes]

So, hopefully I'm not the first one to start.

( he smirks and glances at the time, hearing the din of the crowd growing and growing. )

Hope you like kissing someone with a beard.

[explosion]

[ she scrunches her face as though something's tickling her nose. ]

I have never kissed anyone with a beard before. [ she refrains from scratching the corner of her lip. will it be scratchy? would it be soft? rather than ask those questions, wanda smiles at him and teases, ] I hope you don't disappoint.

[rocinantes]

I won't.

( he's very confident in his abilities despite not having kissed someone in awhile. )

If I do, I'll gladly go take a walk off the edge of the building.

[explosion]

[ she snorts, shaking her head. ]

And they say I'm dramatic.

[ folding her arms against her chest, she narrows her eyes playfully at him. ]

Will you wear the spacesuit that lets you float?

[ you know, since all spacemen have floating suits. ]

[rocinantes]

It's not the spacesuit that helps me float.

( though he definitely would need that if they were in space. )

It's the lack of gravity.

[explosion]

[ wanda rolls her eyes. ] You ruin my space jokes!

[ and she doesn't want to talk about gravity and whatnot right now, not when the new year is just a handful of minutes away. no, what she wants to talk about is what makes her feel both flustered and a little excited. ]

If you walk off the edge of a building, I will pity you and save you. [ but she says much softer, ] But I hope you don't do that.

[rocinantes]

I'm not going to do that.

( time continues to tick down and he smiles at her, looking at the other people around her. )

And miss out on a kiss? I'd have to be stupid.

[explosion]

What if it ruins you for all other kisses?

[ wanda and her fake big ego at work here. she's a little nervous, and so she leans heavily on something that she has missed since pietro's death: being utterly exasperatingly dramatic.

she presses her hand against her chest and shakes her head. ]

I don't know if I can be responsible for that.

[rocinantes]

You really think highly about how you kiss, don't you?

( it makes him laugh. )

If it manages to do that, I'll be impressed.

[explosion]

[ she doesn't, but wanda likes to puff out her chest on occasion and pretend that she's as confident as she doesn't feel. this is one of those times. she's never gotten as far as she'd like by allowing her insecurities to overtake her.

she cocks her brow and regards him in amusement. ]

After everything you know I can do, you doubt me?

[rocinantes]

Kissing's a little different than all those other things you can do.

( just saying. )

A little more personal.

[explosion]

Magic's personal.

[ she wrings her hands together. ]

It's a part of me... just like kissing is, I guess.

[rocinantes]

Well, we're gonna find out how we both kiss now.

( because amo can hear the countdown and he smiles at her, reaching for the hand she has on his chest and curling his fingers around hers. )

Close your eyes.

[explosion]

[ she cocks her brow as she smiles. ]

Is it going to be that awful?

[ but wanda does as she asks, ignoring how her heart hammers in her chest. she's been kissed before by a few boys in sokovia and vision, but they had all been impromptu and never a deliberately plotted choice like this one.

and she hadn't exactly boasted of her kissing prowess, either. ]

[rocinantes]

Yeah, it's going to be terrible.

( hopefully that's not true but they're both going to find out. when the countdown hits zero, amos waits just a second more and then leans in closer and presses his lips to hers.

it's light, just a brush at first before he leans into a little more firmly. )

[explosion]

[ very terrible, it seems.

wanda's not entirely sure what she expected. a quick peck and be done with it, consider the new year greeted as per tradition. the gentleness that she has come to associate with amos from time to time doesn't surprise her. his beard's a little itchy, but that hardly bothers wanda. it's how not terrible it is, despite what they've goaded each other about.

she tentatively opens her mouth beneath his and gently cups his cheek with her hand. ]

[rocinantes]

( the kiss must be somewhat good since she hasn't shoved him away and wiped her mouth yet. guess he's not as terrible at it as he'd thought.

when she even seems to pull him closer and deepen the kiss, he responds without thinking, just letting himself feel it for the first time in awhile. )

[explosion]

[ it has been... a long, long time since she's been kissed. vision's a little taller with a smoother face, but amos is different enough for her not to confuse the two.

with all the cheering and screams of a happy new year has come to pass, wanda easily gets caught up in all of the sober and drunken thoughts. she's slow to pull away, and when she does, she ignores the heat in her face as she looks at him with a pointed look of feigned annoyance and a smile. ]

That was terrible.

[rocinantes]

Yeah, absolutely horrible.

( hey, he's definitely going to play along. he makes a face and then shakes his head. )

[explosion]

[ she lifts her eyebrows into her hairline and widens her eyes in shock. wanda plants her hands on her hips. ]

I was at least a three. You were a zero.

[rocinantes]

Why do you get to judge yourself and me but I can't?

( double standard. )
