I guess it's...not.

( which is a strange thing but...kind of nice. still, he doesn't put a lot of faith in it because he's a pessmistic asshole who thinks he'll be left behind. )

[explosion]

[ glancing at him, wanda looks away and determinedly focuses on a building on the opposite side of the street. she's not used to anyone wanting to stick around. the last person had been vision, and if it hadn't been for thanos, she'd still have him.

but then she laughs and stifles it and shakes her head as she looks at him. ]

How is it that we have known each other for so long and this is what is most awkward to talk about? There were deer delivering the mail in our last city!

[ of course, she knows the answer to that. vulnerability is harder to talk about than acknowledging cats were on the police force. ]

[rocinantes]

I miss that place.

( he'd actually liked deerington a lot. trench wasn't terrible and it hadn't been terrible to him but still. )

And I don't know. I don't make talking easy. A friend of mine said that to me not too long ago.

[explosion]

[ no offence, amos. ]

This place isn't so bad. [ wanda holds her hands behind her back as she looks around the abandoned city. ] I felt like something was sitting on me in Deerington. Here, I feel limitless.

[ and that in itself terrified her. but it was also freeing. ]

[rocinantes]

Really? I think I kind of miss Deerington.

( maybe it was because it was the first place and he hadn't had a bad time there. not always. )

I miss the weird shit. The weird shit that wasn't blood connected.

[explosion]

The blood thing is very weird.

[ it's the first time wanda's really admitted it aloud. it's a concept that's just strange. her blood is different? yet she doesn't feel any different. she wonders if amos does. ]

And the squid thing. [ she scrunches her face in distaste and looks at him. ] Do you feel like a squid? I don't. I feel more like a fish.

[ she's joking about the fish thing. ]

[rocinantes]

I feel like a lobster.

( does he know what that means? no. does he care? no. )

smells better than a fish.

[explosion]

[ she laughs lightly, delighted that he's even entertaining her. it's such a stupid conversation, but sometimes stupid conversations are much needed. it's made the humming go away for now. ]

Is it because of the claws? [ she snaps her fingers as though they are said claws. looking at his hands, she hums thoughtfully. ] You have big claw energy. I can believe it.

[ she smacks him. ]

But I do not stink!

[rocinantes]

I don't even know what big claw energy is.

( but that's her cue to tell him because she said it now. )

And you sure you don't smell?

[explosion]

[ this time when she shoves him, she shoves him hard. ]

I take it back. [ petulantly, she crosses her arms against her chest and tilts her chin upward to complete the look. though, she does her best to stop the corners of her mouth curve upward. (she fails.) ] You're tiny claw energy. Very, very tiny.

[ she does not smell! ]

[rocinantes]

You can't take it back. That's not allowed. Illegal.

( he's just making shit up now. )

You said it and now it's true forever.

[explosion]

But I'm taking it back, so how can it be true if I am saying it's not true?

[ she looks at him pointedly as though that's going to stop him from persisting this, but she likes that he is. amos rarely lets his hair down, and him joining her on this ridiculousness is nice. it's nice to know he has a sense of humour. ]

Because it's not true. The big claw energy. I lied!

[rocinantes]

So, now you're a liar?

( well, that's even worse than being someone who takes stuff back. )

Wow, that's...stunning. I'm stunned.

[explosion]

[ … damn it. ]

[ this was like talking to pietro. always stepping on her own feet, shoving her foot in her mouth. ]

Yes! [ she huffs in aggravation as she laughs. ] I lied about you having big claw energy. I just wanted you to feel good about yourself when you have very, very, very small claw energy.

[ watch out, big dick energy. ]

[rocinantes]

Admitting your a liar again. I don't know how I can trust anything you say now.

( he tuts her. )

What a turn of events this is.

[explosion]

[ opening her mouth like a fish, she huffs again, irritated at him. but she finds it impossible to wipe the smile from her face. how can she when he seems to be in a good mood?

when she tries to think of a comeback, she struggles. so, wanda does the only thing she can do: she shoves him. ]

[rocinantes]

( amos is expecting a retort. he's waiting for it but instead, she shoves him.

she can barely move him but he takes a few steps back anyway. he looks down and then up at her. )

Did you just shove me?

[explosion]

[ she widens her smile as she cocks her brow. wanda rolls her shoulders back with pride. he'd stumbled, even if it was a pathetic sort of stumble. best not to think about that and question her clear win. nonetheless: ]

Yes. I did. [ pointing her finger at him, she informs him sternly, ] And I will do it again if you don't stop!

[rocinantes]

Uh huh.

( he eyes her. )

You're...a liar.

( that's just a challenge, wanda. )

[explosion]

[ staring at him pointedly, wanda wonders if he doesn't think she'll do it. she'll push him again and again and again until he stops calling her out. she'll push him until he forgets that word entirely!

so, she shoves him again, harder this time, and laughs as she does so. it's like trying to push a boulder. ]

[rocinantes]

( amos just laughs when she shoves him and this time? this time, he shoves her back. he's bigger than she is and he doesn't hold back either. )

[explosion]

Hey!

[ wanda stumbles, laughing and taken aback by the fact that he did shove her. it's good to know he gives as good as he gets, even though wanda will never use her full strength against him. ]

It's rude to shove a lady, you know!

[rocinantes]

I think you'd complain if I didn't shove you because you're a woman.

( can't have it both ways, wanda. )

[explosion]

Well…

[ that is besides the point! ]

Do you go around shoving all women?

[ she already knows the answer to that. ]

[rocinantes]

If they need a good shove.

( so, you know. he shrugs. )

Not randomly but I'll shove one if they need it.
