( onward to the rides then! so what could be ~~pet~~ ~~rabbit~~ chizuru appropriate? with her fingers link with the other, she leads her on to look around more in the carnival. a lot more games, food stands (that will come later), and "COME SEE THE TALLEST PERSON ALIVE" behind a tent (that is obviously a scam because wouldn't they NOT be in a tent then?). she spots a ferris wheel in the distance, though. it doesn't seem too high and the way it's twirling appears to be a medium speed.

so jinx points with her index over to the attraction. )

How about that? 'Sides your surprise is there.

( why yes, she hadn't forgotten about the "surprise" she mentioned much earlier. and the ride looks to be the perfect place to give it to her. )

.. huh?

[ Chizuru sounds a little surprised - for a multitude of reasons - as she turns her head to look at Jinx.

First of all since she was so busy looking around at all the things surrounding them, especially everything that's so foreign to a girl like Chizuru, knowing that Jinx would safely guide her along through their joined hands. Then there's the surprise of the ferris wheel, considering Chizuru has no idea what that even is, and--

Well, there's the surprise of the surprise, of course. ]

It's over there?

[ Chizuru may be taking this a little too seriously, but then again, what else is new? It makes her stare over in the direction of the ferris wheel with big, curious eyes. ]

You mean it's.. somewhere near that big wheel..?

Yep! We gotta ride it and sometimes it stops at the tippy top. If it stops for us, then I can give ya the surprise.

( and even if it doesn't stop when they reach the top, jinx will definitely talk into the person in charge to do so for them.

maybe slip them a bloodstone or something in their pocket to work in her favor. the prodigy is definitely cooking up something sly, but for once, it's something that isn't wrongful. at least not in her eyes. )

[ Chizuru seems readily accepting of this idea. A little thoughtful, perhaps, since she's chewing on this concept that's so entirely new to her, but she doesn't seem turned off by the idea.

It's not even just because of the surprise, really. If that's something Jinx wants to go on, then of course Chizuru will go with her. You have to try everything at least once, even if it's so very new to you..!

So the girl nods, and then she's taking the lead this time to step in the direction of the ferris wheel, gently tugging Jinx along through their joined hands. ]

What's it like to ride it?

[ She does glance over at the other - half-curious, but also half with a smile. ]

I mean.. It kind of sounds like you know. [ Or like Jinx may have some sort of experience with it, at least. More so than Chizuru herself has ever had, coming from a time before funfairs. (Then again - Jinx's homeworld didn't exactly sound like the kind of place where there was fun like this going on all the time either.) ]

( luckily for chizuru, jinx rode the ferris wheel once. actually, she rode every ride here at least once when she came here with vi. and as they walk, the girl points out to the carnival attraction ahead of them. )

It's pretty nice! You get in this basket and the wheel spins like WHOOSH but not a fast WHOOSH, just a medium kind. And ya get to see everything! The whooooole park from up there.

( she drops her hand down then looks on over with an exciting grin. )

I love it 'cuz of the view! To be above it all, y'know? Really take in how great everything can look.

[ The girl ducks her head a little - releasing a giggle that she tries to half-cover up with her free hand out of sheer polite habit.

It's not like it isn't obvious she was laughing though. The sound still came out, and when she glances over at the other girl, it's like Chizuru's eyes are practically sparkling with mirth. ]

You always know how to describe things in a way that makes them sound so exciting.

[ Or maybe it just is that exciting! Who knows!

But there's no doubt that Jinx's descriptions give it something extra, right. Something that makes it more likely. ]

You're really setting my hopes high now, you know?

( if she can make chizuru laugh, that's enough for her to say, "today was a success". and it's a bit contagious because she giggles a little too then playfully swings their joint hands high and back (since she mentioned high hopes). grinning and wink, she says proudly: )

Yeeeeah, well!! Nothin' wrong with that, I think. Set 'em so high that it'll poke a pthumerian-whatevers in the eye. ( ... ) They grow big in size, right? Like our omens? I don't pay attention.

( if it hadn't been established already. in this time frame, jinx is still very unaware that the pthumerians are the cause of the strange happenings in trench. she only figured the town is being this way because it's alive and breathing. someone told her the city was sick, so... )

Well, I think it kind of depends on the specific Pthumerian..

[ Not that Chizuru has seen many of them, but from stories and the ones she did see she can kind of tell that they're pretty varied.

.. she's not too sure if she wants to talk too much to Jinx about the Pthumerians though. The other girl just loves a thrill, after all - Chizuru knows that much. The last thing she'd want is for Jinx to try and find them by messing with forces that are too dangerous to mess with..

So when she looks ahead and sees they arrive at the ferris wheel, she's so grateful for the easy distraction. Especially since Chizuru genuinely doesn't know this, so she doesn't feel bad for asking: ]

So.. how do we get on?

( distraction is good because jinx was on her way to ask which pthumerian can grow in size until her attention flutters somewhere else. oh, right, they're here! excited, she squeezes her girlfriend's hand with giddy look on her face.

this is going to be the moment, she can feel it! the peak of their valentine's day is going to be on this ride. especially with what she has in store for them once they reach the top. the carnival man who is in charge of the ferris wheel answers chizuru's question silently as he sets the whole ride into a halt. )

( a button is pressed and the door automatically opens for the two of them to step right inside. jinx nudges the other softly to go on ahead first -- letting her take the window seat when really both sides are. but the twin-braided girl would rather take the seat closest to the door in case, well, something crazy happens and she has to yank chizuru along for an escape. )

[ She blinks a little when the wheel suddenly stops like that. Even though Chizuru has seen plenty of things more modern than anything from her own time ever since she ended up in Trench, some things still are a total marvel to her. Like this. Such a big wheel, and it can suddenly just.. be stopped like that? Out of nowhere?

It makes her seem a little surprised even as she obediently moves into the small cabin, moving to sit down. Her gaze curiously peers around - from the seat she's sitting on over towards the windows, and then finally towards Jinx. ]

.. this is safe, right..?

[ She doesn't think Jinx would bring her on something that isn't safe - so there's no doubt in her tone. It sounds more like Chizuru is trying to look for reassurance.

The fact that she's definitely still holding the other's hand and squeezing it a little probably says as much too. ]

I mean, it's kind of.. jiggly..

[ I-It won't just fall off once they get higher up, right?! ]

( once the two of them are nice and tucked in, the door shuts and off goes the carnival man to do whatever he needs to do before starting the ride. jinx watches the man through the door window (being nosy as usual), but the squeeze brings her attention back to chizuru.

her smile warms over her and returns the squeeze. )

Yeah, a little. But as long as we don't do a jig, we'll be fine. Take this moment as a nice relaxing breather.

( the girl doesn't seem shaken up about the shooting range game anymore but it's no doubt it was nerve-wrecking for her. so this nice little sit down would be a good break until they go to their next thing. jinx figures this would be a good route to take. do something exciting, take a rest, do something else, take another rest, rinse and repeat.

she is use to just going wild the whole way through but for chizuru, she won't mind taking things step by step. the teen knows she won't always be around to show her the world (shining, shimmering, spleeeee~eeendid) but she hopes her method in doing this is helpful, at least. because who knows if her friends are doing this same strategy. maybe they're doing it better or worse. jinx likes to believe she's pacing all of this nicely. the equation of them hadn't fall apart (yet) so... )

[ Well, at least Chizuru believes those words unconditionally. Since Jinx seems to have experience with this ride and has - in fact - survived it, but also because Jinx wouldn't lie to her, let alone about this. So even though it does still seem a little unsafe, Chizuru tries to calm down.

Which works, mostly. The only remainder of nerves are put straight into the way she scoots over to sit right next to Jinx, pressed into the other girl's side. Like she wants to hold on to Jinx in case something does happen.

.. even if all that happens right now is that the wheel is starting to move again, slowly moving up the cabin they're sitting in - and showing the sight outside through the windows. ]

Oh.. How high is it going to go..? You can probably see so much from all the way up there..

( it's understandable about the closeness, after all, the cabin does jiggle slightly since they're moving along. of course, jinx will never mind or push away any sort of physical closeness especially if it's regarding chizuru. at the question, though, there's a quirk of an eyebrow then a few glances outside then around the ride they're in. )

How high? ( she repeats; thinking out loud. ) — Huh, lemme see. I didn't get a good look so if I gotta guess? The wheel looks to be twenty-five feet radius.... spin maybe twenty seconds all around. So... thirty feet off the ground?

I might be off.

( jinx is the perfect example of a "don't judge a book by its cover". she says and does a lot of things (a lot about death and violence) but underneath it all, she is in the genius level when it comes to science and mathematical subjects. the girl might not be as high as viktor -- in fact, compared to him, she's an amateur. but when things boil down to it, she is pretty smart. one has to be if they can create their own weaponry out of scrap and junk. )

Thirty feet.. Wow..

[ It seems like the girl doesn't bother to question that calculation in the slightest. After all, Chizuru definitely isn't book smart in any way - unless it comes to a few very specific subjects, anyway, but nothing like math.

Jinx could be telling her anything here and Chizuru would just lap it up as the truth. Rather than assessing the statement, she just seems amazed, still looking at the view as they're slowly moving upwards. ]

I don't think I've ever been that high up before in my life.

( there's something cute about her amazement. being so high above ground is something so common to jinx that one would more likely to find her above than below. it became the norm for her so seeing someone else go through the experience for the first time, it's... endearing in some way. and it thaws out her once icy heart to see chizuru light up like this -- to be able to go through a new encounter together. )

Really? ... How are you likin' it so far?

( and when she asks this, her tone is soft and sweet like honey. whenever chizuru decides to answer, her eyes subtly inch lower to the other's lips. if the surprise hadn't been obvious yet, well, maybe it will be as jinx slyly maneuvers a little closer. it's amusing how things change over time. jinx had always wanted an opportunity to kiss chizuru but the reasoning behind it changed. before it was one: because she was simply cute and two: to beat sharon in the kissing game.

but now?

now it's because her feelings for the other had blossomed beyond chizuru's looks. she is sugary sweet, caring, polite, patient, and calming to be around. having her in her world feels it's not impossible to have lovely things. jinx can see now that even a monster like herself, she can take care of others... and she can love them and provide love without them crumbling in her grasp.

if she has to take the slow lane in life, she'd be okay with that if chizuru is next to her; hand in hand. the dead thinks it's disgusting how attached and how fond she is of this girl. and sometimes, jinx wonders if silco would even approve of their relationship -- he might believe she is all wrong for her. or that she is weakening her. if so, she doesn't care and she'll argue him up and down over it. because being with chizuru had been like coated in a nice warm bath with little bubbles tickling at her nose. whether the other feels the same is a mystery, but... something has to be there if she's still sitting by her, right? )

Well..

[ Chizuru seems so innocently focused on answering the question. The girl looks so much in thought, like she's determined to give a very thorough and accurate answer to this question. Jinx is giving her this experience, so it's the least she can do for the other in return, after all! ]

It's.. a little bit scary, or-- um, maybe not scary, but it makes your nerves go off a little bit, you know..? [ It's not that easy to put emotions that plainly into words, but she's doing her best!

Even if it means that - for a moment - she doesn't notice what Jinx is looking at yet whatsoever, just prattling right on. ]

But it's not really bad, since it's also.. it's new, and kind of amazed, almost overwhelming, and--

[ .. It's only now that Chizuru stops, considering she's actually looking at Jinx rather than the view. It's hard to see just how much the girl realised in this moment, but her eyes do go a little wider as she stares at Jinx. ]

Um, is something..

[ Wrong? O-Or on her face? ]

— Wrong? ( she'll finish that question for her then response back with a shake of her head. )

No. Everything's perfect. ... Being with you so far has been so damn perfect.

( jinx tries to be careful with this, after all, chizuru is still a skittish little thing and needs to be handle with care. and she feels she's getting the hang of how the other works.

the only sad side is that she wishes chizuru's self-esteem would grow and have the ability to just see what she sees. to have the courage to hop over a fence and say," i want to do this!" loud and proud with no fear. that day will come, she believes and jinx hopes she can be there right there to witness it and be proud for her. so gently, the teen rests her forehead against the other as she sighs out so softly and relaxed.

the words "i think i love you" bubble around her tongue, but she swallows it down. it might not be the right time to express that emotion (she'll say it in a worst time later), but maybe by being this close will say it for her? who knows. )

I don't want this day to ever end...

( she quietly admits -- a hand places carefully along the other's cheek to pull back but still close enough. her eyes meet hers then down to her lips again. her stomach and her heart are doing so many cartwheels but it's not making her feel sick over it. actually. it's such an exciting feeling that she wants to experience over and over again. )

[ Well, that's one way to shut Chizuru up. The girl stops in the middle of all her rambles, all her attempts at putting her feelings on this entirely new ferris wheel experience practically dying right there on her tongue.

If not just because it's kind of hard to focus on those when Jinx is doing all of this. When she's saying those words, when she's suddenly leaning so close so Chizuru's entire view is filled with only Jinx. (Too bad about the outside view, but Chizuru sure isn't pulling her head away to look at that.)

The close proximity definitely has her blushing, considering how shy the girl is. But she doesn't move away either, instead lingering right where she assumes Jinx wants her to be, Chizuru's cheeks filling up with a paleblood blush as she stares at the other from so close. ]

W-Well.. Even if today may end, we'll always have tomorrow too, right..?

( there is truth to her words. there will always be tomorrow and the day after and the day after that. future days she can't wait to experience, share, and explore with her. and although this is their last month as a "couple" together, jinx has high hopes that their relationship can push further on beyond just a trial. chizuru is the opposite of her; horrendously so. even right down to their timeline era. but that doesn't matter to jinx, not one bit. they're making this work despite all odds and she feels they are the definition of "anything can happen".

her heart is beating and swelling before she can even utter any more words. her thoughts are clashing with each other with "just kiss her!" or "no wait, we better ask!". because in those action movies she's seen, the hero immediately leans in and kisses the love interest without hesitations. it seems powerful, passionate, and a big moment. and that's something jinx want to replicate -- for this to be their big moment. )

( but jinx had also seen her fair shares of comedies, too. how the two leads go in for a kiss, but bump their noses together or someone bites the other's tongue...some...how. just thinking over this is making her build up with nerves and before she realizes, jinx is leaving a lot of dead air between them. )

Y-Yeah. ( she stutters finally, swallowing. ) There's always tomorrow.

( they're so close and the girl wets her lips quickly just to be sure they're not all dried out (another fear. what if she has cracked lips?). it's either now or never, she thinks. so she asks in a very light whisper. )

... Can I kiss you?

[ Chizuru has no idea about everything that's going through Jinx's head right now. Sure, she notices the outward silence - it's hard not to - but she figures there's probably a good reason that the other pauses before answering her.

So even with the dead air hanging between them, Chizuru just keeps staring at Jinx, like she's patiently waiting for the other to speak up-- even if it's not with much.

At first, anyway. Because the second part of what the other says may have been predictable to some considering the circumstances, but apparently not to Chizuru. The girl's eyes widen in surprise, a faint paleblood blush on her cheeks - but she doesn't look away.

(If not just because that'd be a majorly rude thing to do after Jinx asked that.) ]

Huh? U-Um..

[ ... is Chizuru ready for that? She's not sure, but.. on the other hand, they are trial dating.

This is supposed to be part of that, right? Shouldn't they at least try? ]

O.. Okay. If you want to..

( jinx almost went in for the kill but the words 'if you want to' stills her. she inches away with her eyes flicker over to the other. with a soft hum, she taps chizuru's cheek with her index. )

I do want to. ... But will that make my Rabbit happy?

( she let their noses bump again -- nuzzling softly yet lovingly. )

You're all about makin' sure I'm happy and pleasing me. It's adorable. — But it ain't fun if it's just one of us. Sooooo .... ♪

( the sing-song word soars into the air; twisting and dancing with the light breeze. and while that index now rest along her cheek, her thumb brushes smoothly to trace over the other's lower lip. )

[ Make that two things she wasn't expecting.

Giving Jinx permission if the other wanted it is one thing. Sure, she had to think about it for a brief moment, but-- it felt natural. If it's something Jinx wants to try, and if it's something they should try, then of course this much is okay.

But putting what Chizuru wants into the equation? That's so much. Her brain isn't used to considering that part, to a point where it feels like every single thought she tries to turn towards the question is just coming up with an error, like her own mind isn't capable of processing this.

What does she want? Well-- when has Chizuru ever known the answer to that question? ]

I'm-- I-I'm sorry if it's not fun..

[ She stammers that first, because it simply feels easier to first return to. It's so much easier to apologize for a perceived sleight, compared to thinking about what she wants when she has absolutely no clue what that is.

So even though it almost makes her sound like a robot, repeatingly falling into the same things, Chizuru can only think of one answer to that question. Nothing else comes up in her mind. ]

But I just.. want what you want. I want what makes you happy.

( she wets her lips for a moment; pondering over her words and her own thoughts. maybe she can try this from a different angle because this mindset of hers... she has mix feelings about it. again, it's adorable but... a little concerning. jinx hums with a light smile dancing on her face. )

Oh yeah? If I wanna jump outta this cart, I doooooon't think you'd follow. And I don't want ya to. 'Less we get attacked or somethin'. But I'll just catch you after you hopped out and we'll be fine.

( the teen scoots back just a bit while clicking her tongue. )

Jokes aside honey, we gotta work on this... line of thinkin' of yours. It's sweet you want to make me happy and all that junk, I want the same for you. But... when it comes to this? You can't just follow along 'cuz the other person wants it. You gotta want it too. Your wants and needs are just as important as mine.

We're a team, remember? If you want me to kiss you, you can tell me. If you're nervous about it being too intense, I can make it really quick or not do it at all. This is all you, your time to shine.

( with all that serious speech out of the way, she teasingly pokes her side with a wider grin now. )

[ It's in response to the poke, of course. Because Chizuru's mind sure would need a few moments to cope with everything else that's being thrown her way here, but the reaction to the sudden poke is so much more instinctive - especially when Chizuru is such a sensitive girl on top of it all. The gasp just escapes her, her body wincing (though not in any actually painful way, obviously) in the aftermath. ]

B-But I don't know what I want..!

[ It's not said with a whole lot of emotion. Sure, her voice is raised a little bit, but it's mostly in the surprised aftermath of the poke. There's no anger in that statement - please, this is Chizuru - but not really sadness either. It's just a very, very honest admission that flew out of her mouth a little easier than it usually would while trying to defend herself from further playful pokes that she's so sensitive to.

At least she does start to blush the moment she realises what she just said. Oh god, Chizuru, you're bringing the mood down, why are you doing this-- ]

I just know I want you to be happy. [ So that's what she's working with, in the face of a lack of any other want. The concept of wanting is so foreign to a girl like her, after all. ] Is that such a bad thing..? I mean, um.. nothing about this is making me sad.

[ Nothing about what she's doing here, she means. Chizuru's own thoughts are a different matter entirely, but that's not what she's addressing. Jinx's actions don't make her feel bad, she means, which is the only way Chizuru can explain this when it takes a lot for her to get to a level where she can realise what she likes. ]

I.. like seeing you smile.

[ See? That much she at least has realised. S-She's getting there!! She's doing her best. ]

( the poking ceases for now so she can let the other talk clearly without squeaking between words. and she listens carefully, taking it all in, then smiles warmly
at her last statement. if chizuru enjoys seeing her smile, she will give her that. not that it'll be hard to do in the first place. )

There's nothin' wrong with you wanting me to be happy. And I'm happy with you, that's been accomplished. And now I wanna make you feel happy or... well, do whatever that makes you happy. You definitely got it in ya to tell me. I'm not callin' you, "Honey" 'cuz I guessed it.

But... — ( she reaches over her hand; lacing their fingers together as her tone lulls. ) it's okay not knowin' what you want, either. I don't always know what I want with stuff. But know that it's okay to be selfish sometimes and to ask things for yourself. 'Sides, I really wanna spoil the heck outta you and I need to know what to do.

( chuckling softly to herself, she raises up their hands so she can plant a light kiss on chizuru's knuckle. ) You like seein' me smile, so I'll smile for you. Done and done. Thanks for letting me know. And look?

( she gestures her free hand to their surroundings. )
