Her profile flashes onto the screen of your Omni. She sighs. ]
Alright, let's do it. What's your favorite plant.

His own profile pops up on Kainé's Omni just as hers appears on his. So this one's just the public humiliation curse, it seems. Perhaps even eldritch horror gods need to spice it up from time to time.
At least the question gives him good enough reason not to acknowledge the profiles. He jumps on the excuse almost immediately.]
...Roses, I think. Or sunflowers.
[He doesn't much care for plants in general, but he is a sentimental creature, despite himself.]

I eat the seeds. Easy protein on the move.

[Especially when you are literally being a bird]
But mostly they make me think of -- [an simpler, happier time in his life. a team that's long since gone] ...family. My nieces' dad always planted them outside the house.

[ Her eyes become distant, remembering the past. Grandma soon lost the strength to do much gardening, and the space that could be used for flowers was better suited to vegetables. ]

[Waver sighed and sat down across from her, his own profile being shared with her while he picked his cat up off the ground. The both of them were dressed for a winter hike, the cat even wearing a gray cloak of her own to match her name.
Waver sighed.]
That's not a bad opener. I never thought about it, but it's probably Mullein. As medicinal herbs go, it's very versatile, easy to grow, and can help a multitude of ailments. I personally like to make it into a tincture, or roll it up with other herbs to smoke sometimes....
[He trailed-- and finally it clicked. Waver cast Kainé a flustered look.]
... I'm tired. That's probably not what you meant, is it?

[ She's dressed pretty plainly herself, bundled up for the winter chill as much as possible while still prioritizing mobility. Looking at his profile... she suppresses a wince. She knows how bad losing Iskander must have hit him. She can't bring herself to contemplate... Venus becoming "Vesper" was hard enough. ]
What does it get you high? [ She shrugs, chuckling. ] Any plant's fine. Those have nice flowers. A lotta weeds do, y'know?

[For a man with the dual bad habits of smoking and not taking very good care of himself, this was helpful information. Waver was not as suspicious as most mages, but he still was not fond of visiting the hospital if he could avoid it.
Doctors asked too many questions, and he would rather keep his vices.]
It's been helpful to me. But, you're right-- many weeds have very nice flowers and are under appreciated. They can help heal or nourish us too, if we have the right information.
[A shrug.]
Many ornamental garden plants are actually quite toxic. That just goes to show that the difference between a 'weed' and a 'flower' is whether the plant was intended to be there or not.

[ Neither her nor Anna ever seem to get conventionally sick, but it might be helpful for somebody else. Corruption can do awfully strange things to the body, too. ]
There's no difference between a weed and any other plant. Just whether people find it useful. But it grows no matter what they think.

[ For all the speed with which Kainé manages to jump into this, it seems that Chizuru needs a moment or so more for her brain to catch up with the current situation..
.. and honestly, even by the time she does properly answer rather than just let out a surprised sound, Chizuru probably still hasn't fully wrapped her head around what's going on here.
But she's just instinctively obedient enough to answer without thinking about anything else. She hasn't even glanced at Kainé's profile yet, nor realised her own was sent over to the other. ]
D-Does cherry blossom count..?
[ It's technically a tree, though. ]
no subject
[ She can't really blame anybody for feeling flustered right now— especially not somebody with a temperament like Chizuru's. She's willing to wait a moment for her to collect her wits. ]
Don't see why not. I like those. Didn't see a lot of them back then... [ She smiles sadly. ] Might have been they were dying off.
no subject
It doesn't take away her nerves entirely, but at least she isn't a total nervous wreck in this moment. She's at least calm enough to listen to the other, and for her eyes to widen a little in surprise as she asks: ]
They were dying off..? Why was that?
[ Usually she'd ask if she was even allowed to ask that - but in the light of this surprise the words slide out of her mouth before she's thought too hard about them. ]

The world was a fucking mess. The sun never set. Weaker harvests every year. Diseases going around.
[ Maybe there were more of them outside of her region. It didn't really matter to her. It was sad, but it wasn't her tragedy, the chain of events that ruled her life. ]

He glances Kaine's way when she asks the question and scoffs a little.]
I don't have a favorite plant. There's nothing manly about plants.
[Oh and his dating profile. ]

What you don't fucking eat any? Bread or rice, even?
no subject
I eat meat to survive.
cw: animal killing description
You ever killed it yourself? Ever caught a fish, rammed a spike through the head, gutted it, scaled it, cleaned it, and cooked it then and there? If you have, how often? I did that to survive.
You ever looked in a deer's eyes while it bled out?
cw: Getting choked out by an adult.

[ It just came to mind randomly. ]

Eating? Potatoes, I guess. You can make 'em into french fries or mash 'em up.

They grow anywhere. Cheap too.
