[Johnny had expected the silence. What he didn't expect was the tone was Daniel opened his mouth. He isn't exactly used to approaching a situation like this without meeting some sort of hostility. ...But well. Maybe Daniel had a point when he had told him months ago to just show up as himself.

He hadn't really expected it to work. He dumps the food on the floor beside LaRusso and cracks open a beer. Flicking the cap across the room without a second thought before he hands it to LaRusso.]

Yeah. Well- If you want one.

Usually makes me feel a little better when shit hits the fan.

[ Daniel reaches back to accept the bottle. There's a bit of noticable strain - a wince - as he does so, like he's stretching his back just a little bit too much as he's moving his arm in a way he didn't quite expect. It makes him let out a sigh as he settles back in.

(Well, at least this is the first time he can actually feel glad for Johnny coming from a different point in time. The last thing he'd want him to reminded of otherwise is back injuries.) ]

I don't exactly think it follows doctor's orders. [ It's a weak attempt at a joke, considering that he's only really been told to get rest..

So this should be fine, actually. It's just that he'll have to spend time hunting bottlecaps in his room at this rate once he's able to get out of bed again. ]

Did you at least get something fruity?

[ He at least won't call Johnny's taste in beer 'sewer water' this time.

Not out loud, anyway. ]

[Johnny grimaces lightly seeing Daniel wince like that. ...Shit. It wasn't easy dealing the weird shit this place brought out. Whether it was the land or the people.]

Screw the doctor. I'll kick his ass if he says something.

[There's a moment where Johnny makes a face that Daniel might recognize. One of light disgust, surprise and then acceptance.]

Fruit in your beer? Figures.

[If there any sign that Johnny was still a little behind the times. It was that.]

So. You're still living after all that shit. You got one up on me in that department, asshole.

[ It seems Daniel still has enough Daniel in him despite the pain and fatigue that he gives Johnny the most dry look possible over the beer he's holding in the face of that remark about the fruit, before just deciding to take a sip.

Maybe he's finally figured that if you reply to dumb things Johnny says, they just inevitably spiral into even more dumb shenanigans. ]

I think I got pretty close. Maybe it's just dumb luck. [ That he survived this time, and Johnny didn't survive those other times.

He pauses, not sipping from the bottle for a moment. ]

.. Johnny, was.. one of the times you died for the kids?

[ Daniel knows about the Maul incident and the Luna incident, and none of those seem to fall into that category. But he doesn't know about the other two times.

He wonders if there was something similar to this time for him. ]
