(open) you're looking at me like you don't know who i am
Who: Ange, Ruby, Break, and anyone who knows any of them.
What: Corruption turned Ange into a true Umineko witch who decided the best way to keep the people she loves safe from this town is to drag them into a pocket dimension.
When: For a while in March.
Where: Ange and Ruby's house-turned-small-pocket-dimension.
Content Warnings: Potential violence if anyone acts particularly antagonistic. Potential talk of violence or gore. Other warnings will be added when things pop up.

Perhaps you have seen Ruby's odd network post and decided to check things out. Or maybe you're just wandering around Trench and notice that Ange and Ruby's house suddenly looks.. different.
The house has been completely overgrown by way oversized roses, big thorns growing out of all the stems, completely obscuring the structure that's supposed to be underneath it. If you get close enough to the cluster of roses, you may feel your connection to any of the three people inside suddenly pull you in. (Please note: only people who know either Ange, Ruby or Break will be able to enter the pocket dimension because of this!)
If you give in to the sensation, everything around you might go black, and when the light returns, you seem to find yourself in.. a hedge maze. A rather odd one, though. As you stumble through it, you may suddenly find yourself in random rooms, and then back out of them into the hedge maze once more. The Moss King's wild plants seem to have even invaded corners of this place, so you might want to watch out you avoid having those snap at you. Retracing your steps through the labyrinth feels impossible, like the way is changing up behind you with every step. Some rooms make perfect sense - like a neat and elaborate kitchen, or a library - and others seem to consist of nonsense with stairs leading upside down or to nowhere, or gravity not working in a specific room at all.
Flying throughout the entire maze are golden butterflies. They seem to fly with direction, and if you follow them, you might find them leading you to one of the people you were looking for..

.. nor does she seem bothered by the other's presence. If anything, she mostly just seems calm for the moment, especially in the face of that greeting. ]
Thank you.
[ Her voice is a little flat, but there's genuine gratitude at its edges. The latter of which is most likely made more obvious by the way she moves a hand to gesture at the seat opposite her own, before adding: ]
Come sit down.
[ With another wave of her hand a second teacup appears, already filled with tea. Usually she would have called Break over for this, but.. ah, well, he did seem rather busy trying to make a nice hat earlier. She wouldn't want to disturb him. ]
no subject
Thank you, I think I will.
[ She peers at Ange over the rim of the teacup, studying the girl and her golden-feathered dress. ]
You've outdone yourself with this place.
no subject
[ .. granted, there's definitely some obvious inspiration going on here. But somewhere between Ange just being Ange and the corruption playing into it all, it certainly ended up different from just creating a second Rokkenjima inside of her little pocket dimension.
She's at least moved on from that, even if the end result is instead this odd twisted maze of hedges and rooms. ]
Even if we carry the same title, I should make sure to make myself distinctive as long as we both exist next to each other.

[ Beatrice takes another sip of tea, lets the taste blossom over her palette. ]
You are the inheritor of all my power after all. It wouldn't do if you weren't up to the task.
[ She sips again. Makes a thoughtful sound. ]
Battler is concerned about you. I said he shouldn't worry, but you know how he is!
no subject
Onii-chan is worried?
[ She sounds a little surprised by that. Only a little bit, since her emotions are definitely muted - though it might be hard to tell, given that Ange has that natural tendency to shove all her emotions underneath a pokerface anyway - but it's still present in her voice.
It's not quite the reaction she expected from the guy, after all. Especially when Beatrice doesn't seem concerned at all. ]
Is it because I didn't invite you two? You can stay here too if you want. I am still expanding this place, my powers just needed a brief rest. [ You don't create a pocket dimension every single day, after all.. ]
no subject
[ She titters, as if gossiping about her husband's dislike of seafood. Takes another sip of tea. ]
I was a little concerned on that account, I admit. It was a little worrying that we two might be cut off. Especially when you're so dear to me...
[ She smiles. ]
Of course I understand needing to rest. Such magic takes a lot out of you.
no subject
Because surely when Beatrice would call her dear to me under any other circumstances, Ange would react like a total toddler to it. Either throw a fit about it, or just roll her eyes and make fake gagging sounds. But under the current circumstances, there's none of that.
Instead she just smiles at the other witch, reaching across the little table to grasp Beatrice's hand that isn't currently holding the teacup. ]
Nonsense, why would I cut the two of you off? Do you think I care that little about you?
no subject
[ Beatrice says it with no small amount of pride. There's something in her demeanor that's changed slightly, though. An edge of awareness. An edge of something protective. Of course Ange cares that little for her. Ange hates her.
Or at least she likes to act like she does. ]
no subject
[ What a way to word it. But then again - it's really hard to be concerned about all the stuff the regular Ange was worried about. Now she's a witch, she's got bigger things to worry about in the present, so who cares about the past? ]
But discounting that, what reason would I have to dislike you? You pretend to be all huffy about me, but I know you care.
[ PLEASE, ANGE.. Don't call Beatrice out so casually on the same thing you do all the time.. But there's not much self-awareness going on here. Or much restraint, judging by how easily and calmly Ange says this right now in the first place.
Like a lot of what made her Ange is just.. gone. ]
no subject
[ Beatrice frowns. She's not getting anything that she expects out of Ange--she is in fact maddeningly calm. There's no huffy denial, no sharp barbs being thrown back and forth, nothing that makes spending time with Ange fun.
So what is this? ]
You never would have welcomed my care before now, to be fair. So my expectation is for you to be quite prickly.
no subject
No need to put up any pretenses here, right? This is my world. Right now, I'm the happiest I could possibly be.
[ Not that she necessarily sounds happy. And not emoting is kind of Ange's thing, but this seems different. It's no deadpan covering everything up, it's just that eerie calm still, almost inhuman in nature. ]
I've finally got a place where I can keep everyone I care about safe, so there's no need for me to get prickly about anything anymore.
no subject
[ A raised brow, phrased in idle curiosity. ]
Hm. Not even when the terrible Witch is thinking you're acting strangely? THat in itself seems strange. At least to me.
no subject
[ She's a little quick to say that - almost like there's an edge of defensiveness in her tone against that claim in particular, though there's otherwise no fire or anger in her voice. ]
Sure, I suppose there might be some.. inspiration from your catbox. [ The golden roses are kind of obvious, huh. And the gazebo, and the portrait, but-- that's all just tradition, clearly. Can't be the golden witch without those. ] But this place is different. I will make it different.
[ That much is something she's been determined about from the start. After all, Ange did mostly move on from Rokkenjima and the futile attempt to get her family back at this point. ]
It will be perfect for everyone who wishes to stay here, rather than back in that awful place called Trench.
no subject
[ Smirk. There. She got under Ange's skin again. Interesting that that's the thing that works. Beatrice looks out over the golden roses with a languid sigh. ]
Please. Rokkenjima, even my Rokkenjima had it's own foibles. I can admit that much. What, do you despise the Pthumerians so much that you want to be one yourself? To control your own little box? Will you get bored, eventually? Want something to do with your time?
[ Another smirk. ]
Boredom is the worst thing to befall any witch, after all.
no subject
That's the problem with witches.
[ .. sure, Ange is a witch now too. Especially in this form. She definitely thinks of herself as a witch.
But there's a difference between her kind of witch and the kind of witches she's thinking of. Witches like Bernkastel. Witches like Beatrice, when the latter is at her worst. ]
People only get bored when they don't have a mission. When you don't have something you deeply care about. There's no way I would get bored when I am much too busy protecting my friends here.
no subject
Can you be so sure? Will you say that in a hundred years? In a thousand?
[ You are, after all, a Witch. ]
no subject
[ It's a foolish answer, of course. How is Ange to know what it'd be like to do this for that long? No one can be certain of such a thing.
And yet she answers this way all the same, without seeming to even have to think about it. Like she's just that convinced of her mission here. Corruption has a way of twisting your mind, after all, only allowing you to see very specific things. ]
Aren't you planning on sticking around to see as much for yourself?
