A May Arrival from the East

[This has been a markedly more confusing day for Goku than usual. He doesn't really remember how it all started, but he does have some hazy memories of swimming in the ocean, of being spoken to by someone in robes. They're not super clear, more like some half-remembered dream from several days ago, except he's pretty sure whatever that was actually did happen mere hours ago. He's also pretty sure that he hadn't really been himself at the time. He must have gone berserk again, because his hair is all long again at the back, except nothing bad happened; which is weird.

What Goku knows for absolute certain is that he'd been asleep on this beach, stark naked, and there was no one around when he woke up, just a bag cradled in his arms like it was the most important thing in the world. His head still feels like it's in a weird kind of fog, as if someone had taken all the contents of his mind and tossed them around in his head like a salad. Which- gross. Salads are so boring. There's never really any good meat in most salads. Maybe they're okay when you're right about to eat, like they're just something to get you ready to really chow down on something good. But how can anyone eat just the salad like it's the entire meal? That's so--

--Wait, what was he thinking about again?

He hopes one of the guys comes around soon. He's pretty sure that's why he keeps looking out at the ocean like it's bound to give him answers. His friends are okay, and they'll probably show up real soon to properly tell him what's going on. Yeah.

Goku lets out a sigh, feeling his stomach growl out a complaint as he clutches his bag tighter against his chest.]

I'm hungryy....

[That familiar drawl makes Goku turn his head to face the owner of that voice. And for a second there, even while looking right at Gojyo, he still looks a little confused.]

..Gojyo?

[And then something seems to click, that fog of confusion getting blinked away and a big, bright grin quickly taking its place.]

Gojyo!! Did ya bring somethin' to eat?!

[kappastrophe]

Do I look like I've had time to do grocery shopping, monkey brain?

[He violently ruffles the kid's head, a familiar past time between the two of them.]

'sides, not like I can take you somewhere to get food while you're buck-ass naked. Where the hell are your clothes?

[glutton_monkey]

Iunno, you got your clothes on, so maybe ya did!

[He automatically swats Gojyo's hand away with an annoyed sound, but he's still grinning a little. He doesn't actually mind, because the familiarity of it is grounding, but that's just the way the exchange goes.]

Mmmm, I think someone told me, but I can't remember. [His nose scrunches a little at the thought. It bothers him.] I musta gone berserk again or somethin'.

[kappastrophe]

[Gojyo freezes.]

Eh-- berserk?

[He glances around. Are there bodies? Fires to put out? Crying children? No, no and no. If Goku went berserk it looks like the worst he managed to do was rough up some sand.

Another tired exhale.]

Well, it is what it is. Better get your ass in some clothes before Hakkai spots you though. Just think what he'd say if he caught you running around naked.

[Fortunately for everyone, Seiten Taisei had been just as disoriented as Goku currently is. So there's no sign of damage or destruction anywhere, and the only real indicator that it had happened at all is that Goku's hair is still grown out. Small miracles, eh Gojyo?

Goku's smile gets bigger when Gojyo mentions their other friend, clearly excited.]

Hakkai's here too?! What about Sanzo?? AHH-- Am I the last one?!?!

[kappastrophe]

Yeah, Hakkai's here too, and if you don't put your clothes on you're gonna get a sunburn on your dick and he ain't gonna heal it.

[He clucks his tongue, looking out towards the ocean.]

Sanzo ain't here though.

[Not that Gojyo missed him. He still remembers how he ran off when they needed him. Plus he was a huge asshole. But he knew the monkey liked him.]

Uweh?? [Goku looks down at himself, pulling the bag away a bit so he can get a proper view, then hugs it all over again as his cheeks flush a little with embarrassment.] S'not my fault! I dunno where my clothes are!

[His lips purse into something like a pout. No Sanzo... Again.] Hmph... After we finally found him an' everythin', too.

[kappastrophe]

They're in your backpack with the rest of your shit, dumbass monkey! They told us when we got here. The hell'd you think was in there, rocks?

[And it's probably in Gojyo's best interest not to comment on finding Sanzo again. He's still pissed. Then again, when isn't he?

But wait-- finally found him? Like, recently? But that was--

Another thing to talk with Hakkai about later.]

[He huffs loudly, giving Gojyo his best glowering look.] Don't call me dumbass, you pervy red cockroach kappa!! I told ya I don't remember any o' that!!

[Though with another big "HMPH" Goku crouches down on the ground again, and this time he starts poking around through its contents. His underwear and pants emerge first, so he quickly starts pulling those on. He doesn't want his dick to get sunburned!]

[kappastrophe]

Yeah, just like any other day then, huh? Your brain's got so many holes in it we could sift the sand for seashells.

[And oh yeah, that's what Gojyo was doing here, hunting for rocks and shells to pay for Hakkai's supplies. He picks a few shiny ones up and shoves them in his pocket.

At least the kids' getting dressed.]

EH?!?! You--

[He's in the middle of pulling on his shirt when he hears that, so once his head pops up through the top he's promptly grabbing one of his spiky pauldrons and throwing it at Gojyo's ass.]

Ass face! Gross cockroach! Pervy kappa!

[kappastrophe]

[Gojyo dodges it with practiced ease, watching it fly off into the distant sand with a grin.]

Monkey brain! Rocks for brains! Squid brain!

[glutton_monkey]

[Oh now that's just not fair. You're supposed to take the hit, Gojyo! Now Goku's gonna have to go chase after his stuff! :|]

Lame-o kappa! Stinky kappa!! Squid kappa!!

[kappastrophe]

[Ha ha, too bad! Go chase after it, dumbass.]

I already said squid, ya moron!!

[HMPH. HMPH I SAY.]

So what?! I can say it, too!!

[He... doesn't even know why they're calling each other squids, though.]

[kappastrophe]

Ugh, whatever!! Look, if I give you directions to where Hakkai's camp is you think you can manage to follow 'em? I gotta pick some shit up in town and I don't have time to help you keep your clothes on.

[A beat]

Maybe I better draw you a map.

[glutton_monkey]

[He makes a face at Gojyo as he plops back down onto his butt, grunting and pouting as he goes digging around in the bag for his shoes.]

I can follow a map just fine! S'prob'ly better than tryin' ta figure out directions from you anyway.

[kappastrophe]

Ain't nothing wrong with my directions, it's your brain that's broken!

But it's outside of town so you gotta keep an eye out.

[Another beat]

And he's had a kinda rough time, so go easy on him, yeah?

My brain ain't broken! [And he sticks his tongue out at Gojyo for that. RUDE.

That all drops when Gojyo says that, though. Goku blinks owlishly, eyes wide.]

Eh? What happened?

[kappastrophe]

[Gojyo sighs, shoving his hands deep in his pockets, staring out towards the ocean. Pretty fucked up how something that looks so peaceful had the ability to ruin lives.]

He's been here on his own for a long time now. And Hakkai--

[He may not have to tell Goku this. Goku's traveled with them for years, maybe he already knows. There was never any telling what he managed to catch in that sieve of a brain he had. But giving details felt like betraying Hakkai's confidence.]

-- he does better with people around he trusts is all. And it's been awhile since he had that.

[glutton_monkey]

[Goku immediately looks alarmed. A long time?! How did that happen?? Didn't they only just get here? Sure, Goku's a little behind, but he didn't think he was that far behind. What kind of crazy magic is that?!

But he understands even without Gojyo saying anything. He may not always have the ability to explain what he understands or how he understands it, but Goku's always been more perceptive than people give him credit for. So when Gojyo says Hakkai's had a rough time, he knows it's worse than he's making it sound.

With a solemn look on his face Goku gets back up to his feet. Extends a hand out toward Gojyo, palm up in a very expectant way.]

So gimme a map already.

[kappastrophe]

[Gojyo lets out a sigh of relief. Hopefully this means he got it and Gojyo doesn't have to explain it any further.

He tears off part of the paper Hakkai gave him and fished around for something to write with. He scribbled some quick directions and explained the route, shoving it in the monkey's outstretched paw.]

Don't get lost, alright? It'd be a pain in the ass if we had to hunt you down in this shithole.

[glutton_monkey]

[He stares down at the makeshift map for a second, lips quirked to the side while he carefully commits Gojyo's instructions to memory. It doesn't sound hard to get there, but when he can still kind of feel a sort of haze of confusion skirting around the edges of his mind, Goku will have to work extra hard to not get distracted on the way there.]

I won't get lost, okay?! I'll be super super careful. An' I'll see Hakkai before ya know it!

[kappastrophe]

[He stares at him solemnly for a minute, then nods and hands him the paper. Even ruffles his hair a little.]

Alright, monkey. Get outta here.

[A pause.]

And if it helps motivate ya, he's got food out there.

[glutton_monkey]

[Goku doesn't swat his hand away this time, just ducks his head a little until the hair ruffling is done. He's smiling the next time Gojyo gets a proper look at his face, though. It's nice that at least the two of them are still pretty normal!]

Really?! Good, 'cause I'm suuuuper hungry!
