( ooc: this is a catchall for Lance this November after his conflict with Reaper and then Maul, though I am trying to keep my new threads this month limited in number, if you have CR with Lance already you are welcome to come plot something with me here or on plurk at spypigeon and we can start something here in this log or I may ask to wait till next month while I get his inbox more caught up and under control if I've already got too much going on, either way I'm happy to plot always! )

[You'd have to be pretty blind to not know what happened with Lance, Reaper and Maul. Bolin saw all the stuff on the network. He heard people talking. He even saw some of the rubble.

But he doesn't feel he knows Lance well enough to get involved in something that is clearly so very, very personal. At least not right away. They've shared a few moments now, so he feels like they're close enough he can come and check on him a while later.

Which actually means sleuthing Lance down at Shiro's place, shenaniganning himself through the door without actually breaking in, and more or less kicking down Lance's door. What? He's asleep? Not anymore you ain't!]

LANCE!

[BLAM! Take that door! Literally kicked open. But it's with good reason, Bolin's arms are full of stuff which clink and bump as he jostles it around. ]

Are you awake? Were you sleeping buddy? How are you feeling?

[He barely remembers being taken from the arena and he definitely doesn't remember where he ended up, having passed out on the trip. And after nearly 2 days in healing a coma of sorts, that loud bang of a door opening has Lance's head popping up in a startled groggy daze. His hair is a mess and he has bags under his eyes and drool on one side of his face and he's just in a white shirt with some bandages underneath.

And his hand flails up weakly to send a ball of blue gold energy haphazardly in the direction of the sounds that woke him. Luckily for Bolin, it misses him and sears a clean hole through the wall of the room Shiro placed him in… and through all the walls of the house in an upward arc through the roof and up into the sky like the bright star it is.]

Huzat pha?!

[That's how he's feeling.]

MIGHTY CRACKERS AND JELLY-

[Which in hindsight is a weird thing to yelp as he ducks away from the DEATH ORB THANKS LANCE. But it's mostly on account that Bolin is holding, amongst other things, crackers and jelly.]

It's just me! It's Bolin! I come in peace!

[Look, you spend three straight days fighting for your life until you collapse and then over two days sleeping it off, and you're gonna be tossing death orbs around at loud noises. Bolin's voice registers a bit more clearly, but he's not replying right away as his brain processes. His hands come up to scrub at his face and one fist rubs at his eye as he squints, trying to see.]

… Wassat 'bout… crackers? …………Where'm'I?

Shiro's house.

[Carefully, very slowly and watching Lance like you would a wild animal, Bolin comes close enough to put the basket of treats down on the foot of Lance's bed.]

You've been out for a couple days I think. I heard what happened. I thought I would bring you some stuff to cheer you up while you rest. Coz who's got you covered? This guy.

[Bolin points his thumb to his chest. Nbd nbd.]

And I have amazing news and not that many friends? So you get to hear about that too. If you want. You can say no... too soon, too soon, heyyyy are you hungry? I've got crackers, jelly, dumplings, buns..cake.. man you would not believe how hard it is to get cake here.

[Okay, Shiro's house. That knowledge has him relaxing significantly more, and he dazedly looks over to the window to see that it's early morning. Huh, how long was he out for…? Oh, Bolin is answering that. He should try to focus on him, he is saying words…]

A couple days? [He rubs at his face again and then feels the drool all over one cheek and makes a face as he pulls his hand away to look at it. Then he sees the treats and his eyebrows go up. He just sort of gapes at the tray until Bolin finishes talking about cake.] Woah… thanks man.

[He is open to hearing Bolin's news, the guy seems super excited about it and after all he's been through, something good and not at all related to himself would be nice to pour some energy into. But he just needs a little bit of time to fully come back to himself and get reoriented. So a sluggish pause passes before he figures out what else to say.]

Alright, just let me… get a shower or something first. Cool?

Uh? Oh! Yeah.. yeah. Sorry. I will just. Wait here?

Fixing Prufrock (6th & Onward) | Open to Close CR, Obi-Wan & Fern

i. chopping wood

[What happened with Reaper and then with Maul isn't easy to process. Especially considering its extremely public nature. For years he'd kept it all to himself from shame and fear and now it's out there and he can't take it back. But what he can do is fix the houses and businesses that Maul destroyed to get to him for those several hours on the first day of their battle. The only real challenge is finding the materials and then transporting them. Luckily he has a whole stable of horses, one of whom is a huge work horse belonging to Shiro by the name of Bob.

Luckily, the Stable where they sell supplies and rent out transport in Willful Machine allowed him to buy one of their large carts and then he went to the forests to take down trees, prepare them for construction use and then load them in the cart. He can be found out in the woods around the main city forming round, bright blades out of solar energy and plasma and then sending them through the trunk of a few trees at once. The horse and cart is standing at a safe distance and there's already some chopped up (and charred) lumber in the cart. A massive white dire wolf guards the cart and a dark reddish coyote wanders in the distance sniffing out mushrooms...]

ii. mushroom interruption

[Working out in the woods comes with its perils. There's monsters that lurk in the forests and this month there's various mushrooms with unknown effects. While he's out here, Lance will also be grabbing mushrooms he recognizes as edible to carry in the cart. But it sure is a literal pain in the neck when one of those Floaters comes by and paralyzes him when he's out here at night. If you happen to be out here in the night, where he is working will be easy to spot as he's lighting the area with a couple small stars he's created with his powers. The massive white direwolf will come to stand over him protectively and growl at the darkness, sensing hungry beasts...

Daytime also has its own perils and Lance may have his survival skills, but sometimes doesn't think things all the way through. Like coming across blue cheeks. The latest tree he's taken down falls and reveals these bright blue mushrooms nearby. Curiosity piqued, he'll pick one up and sniff it, taste test it with his tongue... and then eat it. Hey, the Weepers turned out great, so why not? Please make him puke it up, this would be an embarrassing way to go.]

iii. repairing

[In the city proper, Lance can be found directing Bob, the massive horse through the streets to Prufrock, hauling the large cart filled with Lumber. Another of the horses he cares for walks alongside the cart with packs of nails and other necessary tools and hardware he managed to get in Willful Machine from the smiths. You can catch him trying to get the cart through a pothole or a narrow bustling area and help him figure out how to move the load or get the horses to move when they're feeling stubborn.

Then he finally makes it to the area of Prufrock where Maul had tried to kill him. There's business owners and home owners already working away on repairs and they seem to know him by now. They aren't particularly warm because of the circumstances, but they appear grateful and don't tell him to leave when he starts helping them to lift up large pieces into place. He also offers to get up in the rafters in their steads to place important support beams and nail them in since as a Sleeper with powers, falling is not harmful to him like it is to them. Come help out or just chat with him as he works if you like, but he'll be more open to talking if you're helping these people too.]

[Lance drags himself from the bed, stumbling as he gets out. He pats Bolin on the shoulder, trying to put him at ease in his still partially conscious state.]

Make yourself at home. Don't worry- [YAWN] -I shower quick.

Yeah, yeah, you do you.

[He's good, he'll just hang out for a little bit. Twiddle his thumbs. Be nosy but try not to look like he's nosing around in Lance's(?) stuff.

When Lance comes back Bolin is picking some weird blue fur out from under his fingernail. He sniffs it and recoils before flicking it onto the floor.]

[Lance doesn't take long, like he promised. Normally he would be doing a lot of skin care stuff but he's just not feeling it today. Also, he's starving. He's wearing nothing but a towel around his waist, which shows off many scars, but he doesn't seem to have it in him to care that much right now. He looks around the room for a moment with a sad but oddly comforted expression before he heads to where Keith used to keep his clothes.]

Alright, you've got my full attention, buddy. What's the amazing news?

[He fishes out a simple black t-shirt and pulls it on… pay no mind to the moment he takes to pull the collar up to his face for a moment and close his eyes.]

[Oh no a bittersweet personal moment missing a lost loved one? Nope, sure don't see that.

Wow Lance really appreciates his clothes. That's so nice. Bolin does too.. you know. If he had more than one set. He should.. probably do something about that.

The scars are interesting but he doesn't ask about them. He knows Lance is a warrior type and warrior types always have big, cool scars. Just look at Mako.]

Okay- okay, so. Do you know anything about musicals? Do you like them? Have you ever heard of that?

[There's probably pants somewhere in here, it looks like not everything that belonged to Keith made it, but some things did. The shirt and towel are good enough for now, he decides and he turns and blinks a bit owlishly, clearly not expecting Bolin's questions at all. But somehow it makes sense coming from Bolin given what he does know about the guy.]

Uh, yeah, I totally know a thing or two about musicals. I was in a few of them when I was a kid. Last one I did was West Side Story when I was fourteen. Why?

Wow!

[Can you visibly see his excitement meter rising? Because it is.]

Well I'd never heard of them before and I never had the money to go to the theater until I was an actor but Wu said we should do a show at The Raccoon Room. Because it's a performance space, right? And so I talked to his buddy Ryan and long story short- we're doing a musical! And I'm directing it!

[For the first time in what feels like a while considering everything that happened before he fell into his semi coma, Lance smiles a bit. It's hard for him to put words to what he's feeling just yet. It's a lot of things.]

Dude, that's awesome. Sounds like just what this town needs too. What musical is it?

[As he says that he goes to pick up Bolin's tray and then gestures for him to follow him out of the room and into the living area where there's a table for them to sit at.]

[What, no picnic on the bed? You don't like sleeping in crumbs? Live a little, Lance.

But he follows. Pants are for suckers.]

It's uhhhhhh oh! The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Do you know it?

[It's not his room and it makes him sad. And pants are for suckers when a towel does the job just fine.

He places the food on the table and pulls a chair out for Bolin before sitting down as well.]

Yeah, that's a super old cult classic where I'm from. It was a movie too.

Right, the movie. [As he smiles and sits and starts helping to unpack the spread]

That's what I've seen. And I've written it all out so we have a script. And I added a little bit. It's gonna be great, I just need to finish finding people to be in it.

I need people with charisma! And drive! And razzle dazzle!

[Why he didn't realize Bolin was here to ask him to help or be in it, he will probably just chalk up to everything he's been through. There was a time when Bolin wouldn't have even had to lead into asking, he'd have jumped all over it the moment he heard there was a chance to get on the stage. Right now, though… he's conflicted.]

Dude, another time I would totally tell you you came to the right place. Razzle dazzle is like my ultimate catch phrase. [He raises a hand and makes tiny sparkling stars float around his hand as he wiggles his fingers to show that it's now literally something he can provide.] But I dunno, man. A lot's happened…

[Even better is that Bolin is literally just saying what he needs. It's not a sneaky sideways into getting Lance to volunteer.]

Oh- oh, I wasn't implying.. but now that you mention it there is a part I need to cast and you would be perfect! [He slaps the table excitedly and stands, leaning over their food] Lance- quick- will you wear sequins? Can you dance?

[Lance blinks, compulsively leaning back a bit in the face of Bolin's enthusiasm. And apparent selective hearing.]

Uh, yeah?

[It's a talent. He really only hears what he wants to when he's like got a mission.]

Can you sing??

[azurestar]

[He blinks rapidly as he starts to recover from the sudden questions.]

Of course I can. But dude, I dunno if I'm up for it… Besides, I look better in sequins when I'm a chick.

I.. don't understand what that means. And I don't want to push? But man you would be the best Columbia. I won't be able to see anyone else for the role.

It means I look better in sequins when I've transformed into a girl. [Lance crosses his arms suddenly feeling a little on guard. It's been a long time since he watched Rocky Horror so…] Uh, remind me which one Columbia is?
