The worst part now is that he knows he has to eat it. The monster didn't attack him, and that's a good sign. But putting this thing in his mouth? That's going to take some courage too.
Here goes nothing, he thinks, popping it in his mouth. Childe reflexively shudders, closing his eyes while he chews and swallows the mushroom.
When he opens his eyes, the world has returned to normal, and recognition flashes in his eyes when he sees Kaeya. Smiling, he laughs in relief, mildly embarrassed in front of the other man.
"It really was just a hallucination. Goodness, what a nightmare..." He holds a hand up to his forehead, finding it almost surreal that the very environment around him was such a hellscape only seconds ago.
"Are you alright? There was a moment where I definitely tried to kill you."

The next question has him waving a hand. "You definitely tried to, but you weren't at your best, thankfully." He reaches out to set a hand on Childe's shoulder. "I'm sure if you were, I'd be somewhat closer to dead right now."
A pause and he adds, "There was a moment there where I thought I might have to kill you. And that seemed like it might put a dent in our burgeoning friendship."
