[He's silent for a bit.]

Nico's camp sounded nice. Full of people who are... different.

(figures. abby smiles for a moment, watching the ceiling.)

Yeah. It sounded pretty cool. (if they could go there, she could stay with clarisse. lev could have nico. they'd probably all be really happy like that. it hurts that she can't make it happen for him.)

D'you miss him? (abby hasn't checked in on this for a little while. there's been a lot going on. she turns her head to look at him, her cheek on the comforter.)

I think I'll always miss him. That's how losing someone is. I just don't think about it all the time like I did when it first happened.

[He admits, part of the desire to go to the Camp was to see Nico. But... it did seem like a good place. Maybe sort of how Abby saw the Firefly camp.]

Yeah.

(she stares at him for a moment longer, considering, her tongue passing over her teeth. and then she rolls onto her side, both to get closer to lev, and to press her face resolutely into the mattress.)

... Peter left. (her voice muffled.

she thinks she'll always miss him, too.)

I'm sorry.

[He knows it doesn't make it better. Or even really hurt less. But at least he can convey that he understands her pain, even if he can't fix it.

He swings his legs on the side of the bed.]

...What are you going to remember most about him?

[armd]

(considering the question makes her eyes burn for a moment. she's going to remember a lot of things about him. it's hard to settle on one, but the answer comes to her eventually anyway. she has to lift her head both to be heard properly, and to take a breath.)

... He said I'm good at caring for other people.

(that really stuck with her. she still thinks about it: the way that he said it, voice soft and fond, and the weight of his dying body in her arms. that was such a long time ago.

this time he didn't die, he chose to go. nobody has ever left abby voluntarily before.)

[His lips quirk into a smile and he has to turn away to make sure she can't see.

Abby is good at taking care of people, even if she doesn't think so. And it's very validating to hear that someone else feels the same way and used it against her like that.]

And what was he good at?

Being an idiot, (she returns, automatically. it'd probably sound scathing and sarcastic to anybody who didn't know her; lev can probably parse the hidden affection in her words.)

And making me laugh. (he's even doing it now, without being here. she hides a little smile in her sheets.)
