( he's busy sleeping when someone starts knocking on his door. amos really seriously considers just letting it go because it's too damn early and he's not going to deal with it. it's cold, he's warm and he doesn't care what whoever's there wants.

but that person doesn't stop knocking which means eventually amos climbs out of bed and stomps over to the door. he's only dressed in a pair of pants because he'd been asleep and yanks the door open.

[ wanda smiles brightly, grateful he had chosen to open the door. she knows she's been in his face quite a lot this month, but he's allowed it. and because he's allowed it, wanda has made the most of it. she wants a good christmas, a good end of year, and it's better to be in company than to be alone.

the last time she'd been alone, too many people had been hurt. ]

( he yawns and then at least steps aside so she can come in. )

[ slipping into his place, she smiles cheerily. that's the exact reason why she came early—to shake up his routine.

she's also an early person who sometimes forgets that other people are not. it's a flaw. ]

I wanted to make sure you had everything for Christmas. Some places may not be open and I didn't want you to starve tomorrow.

What's Christmas?

( he knows what christmas is but he wants to see if he can surprise her, make her freak out or something. )

no, wanda doesn't read his mind. she does suspect from what she knows of amos that he's pulling her leg. she likes it when people are in good, teasing moods.

she smiles, her lips widening as she feigns excitement at being asked such a question. ]

I'm glad you asked, Mr Burton. It's one of the most important holidays of the year. Did you want to know why?

Not really but I got a feeling you're gonna tell me, aren't you?

( he's not a telepath and he knows that. )

[ wanda thinks of a plethora of answers, but she decides to go with something that she thinks is very anti-amos. ]

It's the holiday where you're meant to drink only juice [ he'd love that, surely. ] and wear hot pink [ again, he'd love that. ] and you let Wanda Maximoff do whatever she wants.

[ she smiles at him. at least the latter captures the spirit of christmas. ]

You know, I might not be able to do all kinds of things like you do but I ain't stupid and I know that's a lie and you're not going to be ordering me around.

[ wanda laughs brightly. ]

[ she furrows her brows and tilts her head to the side, feigning confusion. did she? did she? hm, she can't recall. ]

[ she sighs dramatically, purposefully looking away. ]

[ excitedly, wanda brings her acting skills to the table. she barely looks at him, feigning shyness. ]

[ she laughs loudly and shakes her head. ah, there's the self-deprecation she knew him capable of. no one remains that prickly and guarded because they love themselves. ]

[ truthfully, wanda doesn't understand the point of numerically scaling anyone. ]

( he rolls his eyes at that. )

I don't even wanna know how you came to that number. Don't tell me.

[ she chuckles. ] Really? You don't want to know which arm lost you half a point?

[ she glances at his arms as if scrutinising them and trying to spot the arm that let him down. truthfully, she likes his arms. they're big and strong and… wanda never thought of herself as an arm woman, truthfully. ]

No because I know you're a liar. My arms aren't a five out of ten.

( he'd done a lot of work on his arms and he wasn't going to let her say he was only half good. nope. )

You can tell yourself that but it's not true.

[explosion]

[ amos has nice arms. wanda had never considered herself anything like a butt girl or even an arm girl, but looking at amos... she could be an arm girl. maybe.

looking at his arms pointedly, she narrows her eyes and looks between them. ]

One of your arms is a little smaller.

[ she lifts her hand to show a small space between her thumb and index finger. ]

[ wanda ignores the heat burning her cheeks. no! she doesn't look at his arms. god.

It's important to notice these things about your friends. I wouldn't want you to wear a shirt that made it more obvious.

[ she cocks her brow and smiles. wanda has a feeling that amos wouldn't care if the shirt was baggy or if it was puke green. a shirt is a shirt. ]

I'll have you know I have a good eye for clothes.

[ she is, after all, the costume designer from wandavision. ]

I'm sure you do but I like what I wear just fine. I don't need someone else to pick clothes for me.

( he doesn't want to put too many colors into his wardrobe. )
