[ it doesn't sound like one to her, in all honesty. that'd be a christmas come early. ]

It is. I do have to wear clothes sometimes, Katherine. To be warm, to go outside, to answer the door.

( so, unfortunately, you were not going to get this christmas wish. he hopes the other gifts make up for it, though. )

I admire you for reaching for the stars, though.

[ while he may have some decent points there, she can refute each one. she can go outside and she can answer the door—or simply dissuade anyone from going to their door. it'd be easy. a little compulsion here, a thorny bush there...

she kisses his cheek. ]

I can keep you warm.

( yeah, yeah, don't sweet talk him. he smiles, turning into the kiss and then tries to get back up again. )

Leave the presents alone. I'm going to get you some breakfast.

( if you touch those presents, you were going to ruin christmas, katherine. )

[ with him no longer underneath her, she slumps over the couch and pouts as she watches him. this is a very poor way to start christmas, stefan! allowing herself to fall over the couch, she slides onto it and rests on her heels, facing him. it's very un-katherine-like, but she thinks that she's allowed to be more katerina than katherine today. ]

Am I allowed to come and get breakfast or do I have to stay and wait?

[ she can be trusted to follow, surely. no nefarious plans up her sleeves... ]

Do you want to come with me?

( he's definitely not against that and even reaches a hand out for her to take. )

Come on, you can come with me. Let's go, lazy.

[ oh, this is good news for her. katherine holds out both arms, wiggling her fingers. she begins to pout. ]

Can you carry me? I'm a poor, very old woman with very sore bones.

[ take pity on her, stefan. it's christmas. ]

( stefan eyes her and then reaches down and hefts her over his shoulder, smacking her ass as he does. this was your fault, katherine. you wanted this and this was how it was going to happen.

he starts walking into the kitchen with her over his shoulder. )

[ squealing, she grips the back of his head and between his shoulder blades, kicking her legs pathetically. she laughs and doesn't try and slide out of his arms. she quite likes being thrown over his shoulder. ]

You're such a caveman.

[ and she loves it. settling over his shoulder, she tries to teach down and slap his ass. it's a little difficult, but she'll get there. ]

Don't drop me.

( oh, he's so tempted to drop her. not anywhere but the couch but still. he doesn't though, keeping a good grip on her and carrying her into the kitchen. )

Quit trying to smack me, Katherine, and I won't drop you. But if you distract me, who knows what might happen.

Ooo.

[ she laughs. katherine's not the type to quiver in the face of being dropped. she can land on both her feet no matter how high the fall happens to be. but she sincerely doubts stefan would drop her. he's enjoying this as much as she is.

she goes limp against him, sighing. if she's not allowed to touch his ass, then she'll ensure he knows how disappointed she is as she plays along. ]

What are you making for breakfast?

I'm thinking of making something that takes hours to cook to torture you.

( he makes his way into the kitchen and gently drops her on the counter before he starts opening cabinets. )

So, maybe crepes and French toast and eggs and bacon and sausage.

[ she purses her lips thoughtfully. ]

And how is this meant to torture me?

[ she kicks her heels back against the cupboards, staying put. although she knows she could be a menace, she opts to behave for now. ]

I'm with you.

[ that's not torture. ]

( wow katherine, that's gross. he can't help but smile though before he puts some ingredients on the counter beside her. )

You're with me while your presents sit in the other room. That's not torture?

( how sweet are you, katherine? )

[ she shakes her head, biting her bottom lip. considering she's gone many christmases without gifts before, she can handle another one. she never really did understand what christmas cheer was about until she ended up having someone to share it with. ]

Nope.

[ she hits her heels gently against the cupboards.

then her smile widens, ] My present is you.

[ drop the mic. ]

( stefan almost teases her for that one but bites his tongue and leans over to kiss her gently a few times before he pulls back. )

Maybe I should have wrapped a bow around myself. And don't get any ideas, I'm not going to do that.

( he was an unwrapped present for you, katherine. )

[ immediately happy at his suggestion, her smile abruptly falters when he declines to wrap himself up in a bow. boo. that would've made this a christmas to remember. ]

[ she swings and hits her heels a little harder against the cupboards in an act of petulance. ]

Maybe next Christmas you'll do that.

Maybe. Or maybe for your birthday. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

( he gently taps her on the nose with his spoon before he starts preheating the oven to get some eggs and sausage going. )

What do you want me to make for breakfast? Anything specific?

[ she shakes her head. ]

I would have settled for toast, but I'm happy with anything you want.

[ but if he wants to make something big and fancy, she won't stop him. she hits her heels against the cupboards and curls her hands around the edge of the counter. ]

You should wear an apron, you know. Do you want to get your shirt dirty?

[ stefan should wear nothing but an apron in her humble opinion. ]

( stefan smirks and looks over at her. she does have a thing for him in aprons, doesn't she? he doesn't mind but he doesn't immediately move to get one either. )

I'm a good cook, Katherine, I'm not going to get myself dirty. I don't just toss flour and stuff around.

( he pulls out some eggs and some bread and decides to go for eggs, sausage and toast. maybe some bacon. )

Have you ever tried it?

[ she cocks her brow and stays where she is. though she thinks to slip off the countertop and help him, she knows she'll only be a hindrance than support—and that's something she'll save for new year. ]

Gone a little wild. Made a little mess? Tossed flour in the air?

( then he'd just have to clean it all up and the food might get ruined and he'd just rather not. )

That just seems unnecessary. Have you ever done it?

[ biting her bottom lip, she nods. ] Mhm.

[ unsurprising to her, mr stickler for rules hasn't purposefully made a mess in the kitchen. it shouldn't surprise her. stefan is a clean cook and can be bossy at times. ]

Sometimes having a food fight can be fun. It can lead to a very fun clean-up, too.

And when's the last time you had a food fight?

( considering how protective she is of her clothes, he doubts that she's going out to get herself dirty all the time. )

[ her brow arches in surprise. ] Do you?

[ she chuckles. tilting her head, she watches him for a moment. thinks to tell him the last time she got into one, but she doesn't think that's the point of his comment. ]
