winter mourning; OPEN
this tradition reminds her, vaguely, of the Odd Soul Festival. where herbivores come together every odd month of the year to give thanks for their safety from predation and pray for continued safety. traditions that are, honestly, for the sake of profit only but are fun to partake in regardless of how superstitious one is.
a willingness to keep surviving, huh? she can use something like that. and when it all comes together and the wreath she makes begins to glow, upon touching it she's taken back...]
memory 1 cw: attempted predation, assault
[I was destined...to be a loser.
this memory is all too familiar to her. one she goes back to again and again, and though in this instance as things play out she's aware of the other person look back at her through the darkness of a courtyard, what he looks like and who he is, she's unaware that she's not the only one brought into her memory.
she's a white rabbit seemingly alone in the courtyard of her school, the splashing of a fountain at its center being an ever present sound, the smell of chlorinated water blocking the scent of a predator watching her from the steps of a building right across. but the eyes...they're a large flash of red in the dark and fog, and while Haru knows now how things will play out, her role as a prey animal takes over.
the outsider to this memory will have a clearer view of what's happening; of a white rabbit illuminated in moonlight frozen stock-still staring at a large lumbering beast cast in shadow.
there's another pair of eyes on her and she senses it; looking away from the shadowed beast prowling across from her directly back at the one person out of place in this memory.]
This isn't...how it went...
[and when she speaks, a large grey wolf comes leaping from out of the shadows. and as Haru runs towards you, hand reaching forward as though asking for help, the wolf wraps his arms around her and pulls her close to him.]
memory 2 cw: sex, nudity
[this one's more intimate, as the antlers that glow in her hand seem to grow in shape and size, attached to the head of a male deer that she's in bed with. but this memory is more out of body, and Haru steps away from herself, turning her back away from the scene of her memory-self and this deer in bed, mid-coitus, as though to merely enjoy her surroundings in what appears to be a gardening shed to a rooftop garden. she hums to herself, thumbing through a log she keeps on the bedside table, of all the notes she's taken of her successes and failures in the garden.
lucky for you (or unlucky?? you are stuck in a room with two animals fucking), she seems entirely unaware that this memory has an innocent bystander.]
memory 3 cw: attempted predation, nudity, implied sexual assault, (later, blood and violence)
[it's another out of body memory; she's choosing to keep it that way for now as this memory unfurls. she doesn't remember what it looked like, so caught up in her own thoughts and writing out her will in her head, that it's only right to keep experiencing this part as an out-of-body experience.
it's her in the lair of the Shishigumi, on the top floor in the boss's room. she's been made to strip naked, the large spectacled lion crouching over her, manhandling her ears, her arms, her legs, examining her all over to see just how pure white her fur is from all over.
she knows what comes next. waiting for herself to gain her senses so she can step back into this memory where she was at both her bravest and most afraid, but at this moment she can't.
her hands ball into fists as the lion flips her over, grabs her tail, but she keeps watching, jaw set tight, not looking to whoever has the misfortune of stepping into the worst of her memories.]
memory 4 cw: manga spoilers, predation, blood
[it's an unpleasant scene she's happened upon. dozens of animals gathering around a bloody scene: a female rabbit laying in a pool of her own blood as an upset young male lion, blood on his face and claws, looks around wildly with tears in his eyes.]
I was losing myself... [his voice is sad and small, and of the blurred vague faces in the scene, his is the clearest, while the female rabbit on the ground is clearly still alive but her face eviscerated.
it's hard to watch, yet Haru stands there along with the other bystanders. the police come, then medics, large carnivores tending to the distraught male lion, masked herbivores wheeling the female rabbit away.]
--I never thought about eating her...but my head was just out of control!!
[everyone is standing around still, and as the two animals are taken away, one in a police car and the other in ambulance, Haru remains standing at the pool of blood, her reflection clear as day.
she notices an outsider to this memory, someone who clearly doesn't belong here, and as she continues to watch the cars drive away and the crowd of frazzled herbivores and carnivores slowly disperse, she speaks up:]
I still don't really know what I was thinking that day.
[she tucks her hands into the pockets of her overlarge sweater. shrugging her shoulders up as she turns to walk away, expecting you to follow.]
memory 5 manga spoilers, mention of predation
[she's back at university, having bumped into one of her professors, or her former one that is...
he's a tall, gazelle-looking guy, but when he lifts up his mask to pick at his teeth with long nails, the fangs of leopard are revealed as he grins.]
I didn't think I'd get to see you again...my stabbing myself got around and I ended up being fired.
[Haru frows, unsure what to make of this guy in the moment, but her frown is also intentional as she lives through this memory once again. knowing where it'll lead, with her wanting to make a strange animal happy, a maternal instinct for a herbivore/carnivore hybrid who's grown up big and strong and healthy.
the desire to feel normal again. to be the one eaten in a world of carnivores and herbivores.]
Really? That's sad. [a beat, more conversation between her and this strange animal. and, at her next question her face lights up. excited, happy, hopeful.] Are you..a hybrid? Between carnivore and herbivore?
run rabbit run; OPEN
Haru's listened in to the stories about Dorothea and her tricks; she's a rabbit, call it a bit of a bias for wanting to hear a story about a rabbit god and the way she managed to outwit those who sought to hunt her.
but even if this hunt in the winter doesn't seem to target Palebloods, Haru still has a bad habit of being a rabbit in the wrong place at the wrong time. or, perhaps, in the right place?
she can be found foraging in the woods, accidentally happening upon any traps that might have been laid out by a fellow Sleeper to capture a vileblood or warmblood. sticking her nose where it shouldn't be by dismantling bear traps that don't spring for her, or cutting trip wires she tripped over but somehow didn't activate with pruning shears.
or, in the worst of circumstances, she happens upon a person stuck in the role of prey, and she tries her best to help them out of their situation. the weak helping the weak.
either way, a rabbit in the wild is bound to draw attention when tensions are this high. but for once in her unlucky life, she's actually lucky.]
[ooc: as a PALEBLOOD Haru can help anyone suffering from this curse out; be it breaking their urge to hunt for others, or calming those down who feel hunted. for once, she can act as someone's rescuer.]
Run rabbit run
Truthfully, she needed to just get out for right now. Out of the house and away from town.
What she didn't expect was to see a familiar someone tugging around with some bear traps].
Haru? What are you doing?
no subject
Haru jumps when Luz speaks up, and as her hand jerks up, the bear trap she was fiddling with snaps shut, luckily a hair's shy from closing on Haru's arm. the rabbit looks away from Luz and back down at the closed trap, one ear flicking.
well, that's one way to disarm a trap...]
I keep happening on these traps...I'm no expert, but I thought I should try disarming them.
no subject
Not that it absolved them of ANYTHING and Luz would be sure she'd find a way to prevent them from doing that all again].
Whoa, be careful! The last thing you want is to get snapped into something like that! I hear the agony lasts for hours!
Really, the last thing Luz wanted was another friend suffering if she didn't have to].
no subject
Ah-hahah...I was being careful... [until you came up and surprised me. but she's not going to stick her foot in her mouth with this kid and come across as rude.] But you should watch out, too. There are traps all over.

If it's that bad, I can always just take to the staff. Besides, I want to try and get rid of some of these too. It's another one of THOSE months, and after last month I think we could use a break.
