[ 'Faith' is a name that Penny recognizes. The cool neutrality vanishes like a light being flicked on, and in its place comes a bright and sunshiny smile. ]

Oh! I know who you are. I am pleased to finally meet you!

[ She doesn't offer a hand out or anything like that, but her posture remains open and friendly. ]

That's correct! I specialize in combat against individuals with unusual abilities.

[That's... surprising. Faith cocks her head slightly. Her interactions with this house have been mixed to say the least, and it seems unlikely that Ozpin and Qrow just left the little detail of her following the two of them around with a loaded crossbow.]

I see my reputation proceeds me. [And because she's just... the slightest bit curious.] Good things, I hope?

Well, I don't mind teaming up. Not sure I could take him on my own while he's got his fuckin' glowstick.

[She immediately feels bad for cussing.]

I have heard very few things about you, actually. Only that you can be relied upon in this sort of situation.

[ The prospect of going in otherwise blind doesn't seem to bother her even slightly. ]

I would be delighted to work alongside you! What are your specialties in combat?

[Right... guess it makes sense that way. She's deeply confused by how this girl is just... so immediately enthusiastic and friendly. But it's cute in it's own right, so while she's too suspicious to take it at face value, she doesn't mind it.]

Uh, right, I think I've seen you more than I've heard about you, so I guess we're both flyin' blind.

I specialize in hunting monsters. Vampires being the most common pests where I'm from, but I do others too. [...Kill them, that is, she's actually not the Slayer with the biggest monsterfucking tendencies.] Pretty sure Maul's mostly just a weird human, though. Humanoid. Whatever the term for that is.

[ Penny hears 'monsters' and thinks of the monsters she knows - animal-like and wholly inhuman creatures. She slots Faith in as having similar experiences to her own. ]

Then you and I are similar! I also specialize in fighting monsters, though I have experience against human opponents as well.

[ More of the latter than the former lately, but that probably works to their advantage. ]

Many people from my world are weird humans as well, but vampires only exist in stories. What are they like?

[Faith too, has been fighting people for almost as long as she's been fighting monsters. Faith smiles, despite herself.]

Guess so. [Then she hums in consideration at how to describe vampires.]

Uh, they're dead people infected with a demon that steals their soul and makes them feel an instinctive pull to drinking blood. Extreme inclination to killing people and feeling nothing about it. They look completely human and can act just like the dead people they used to be, up until they bring out their fangs which transforms their face into something real ugly. They've also got supernatural strength, predatory senses and regeneration.

They're kinda lame after you've killed enough of them, though.

[ Penny listens closely as Faith explains, standing with an attentive stillness that borders on unnatural. When she's finish Penny nods, expression gone contemplative. ]

That does sound dangerous.... Are there many people that fight vampires in your world?

[slayerskiss]

Kinda has to be, yeah. They're sort of all over the place.

[To a ridiculous extent, like how there's just hundreds of new vampires all the time in a small town in california, but she's decided not to think about it.]

They're not public knowledge, though. People can really bend over backwards to convince themselves they're not real.

[ So a specialized fighter that deals with specific subsets of enemies... yeah, Penny knows that one. ]

That would make you a huntress on Remnant! Although...

[ She hums thoughtfully, and then: ]

It must be difficult to try to fight in secret. We receive a great deal of support when fighting Grimm.

[slayerskiss]

We're supposed to get support. [Her smile's tight.

Fuck the Watcher's Council, all her homies (All two of them) hate the Watcher's Council.]

But it's more about controlling us. There's a big council of rich british assholes who send us off to die, tell us it's our honor, and then clap themselves on the back when we survive.

So it's sorta worse than nothing.

[ Penny has no idea what a 'British' is, but people in power not helping as much as they should is, unfortunately, something she's extremely familiar with. There's not really anything she can do about Faith's situation back home. Here, though? ]

Well, you will not need to worry about that here. My friends and I support each other, and we can help you as well!

[She blinks in surprise, before eventually chuckling.]

...Yeah, alright. Maybe we should hunt together some time.
