When Rose mentions a touch-up of her glass, Laurel freezes on the inside. Rose only had good intentions in asking and she wants to make that clear.
"I'm fine, thanks. I don't really drink champagne but thanks for asking, Rose. It's very sweet." Laurel says quickly, but she gives her a smile afterwards. "You go ahead and I'll get something in a little bit."
She has told a few people that she doesn't drink, but has never gone into the reason why. It's not an easy topic for Laurel to talk about and part of her wished she could find someone who was in a similar situation to her so she could discuss it more openly. Her sister knew the truth of course and they've had lots of conversations about Laurel's issues, but sometimes, it wasn't enough.
"Did you find a place to stay, okay? I should have asked you before now. I found a tiny apartment in Willful Machine and I've slowly but surely been turning it into a home. Not that I have a lot of stuff, but y'know. I want to make it my own."
Rose smiles, giving a little nod. She won't say anything more of it; it's perfectly fine if the other woman doesn't want anything. She lets the server polish off her own champagne flute, thanks him, and then takes a little sip.
"It feels like forever since I've had any. Not since one of my husband's business parties..." Rose mulls thoughtfully. Those were always fancy little events, with equally fancy little drinks passed around.
"I did! It's a little house in Crenshaw, not far from the orphanage, actually." Rose smiles again, tilting her head as she pictures the cottage-esque home. "I know what you mean. I haven't done much shopping here yet, but maybe there's some places to get nice decor and stuff.... We should definitely have a shopping day, soon."
"The last time I was at an event like this was probably something for the mayor." Laurel says, thinking about her life back home. "Part of my job was to schmooze with council members and so on. Not my favourite part though. I prefer being in the courtroom."
At least she could get something done there.
"A house? That's great. I'd love to come and see it for myself." Laurel smiles warmly at her. "And we will absolutely have a shopping day to find some things for your home. My place too. Maybe even some clothes?" She adds, sounding hopeful.
"I will take a look at my upcoming schedule for next while and let you know when I'm available."
Laurel seems to consider what Luz has to say and then nods.
"Fine. Let's not upset any more of the locals in the bar. Even though we could totally take them all on."
In fact, Laurel can just open her mouth and knock them all down with her sonic cry - it would be so damn easy, and part of her really, really wants to do it.
"You're right. We probably shouldn't tarnish the reputations of our other selves." It would be fun though, she thinks.
Moving to the closest table, Laurel upends it with a smirk and watches as glasses shatter on the ground. Then she does it to another table, ignoring the protests of the patrons.
"Oh, she's going to have to do some make up work for me anyway, trust that," Luz said with a wink. No way that the real Luz was going to find ALL the places she tagged with Kyle.
Luz manages to nab one of the glasses before they shatter, and makes her way over to a keg, pouring herself a drink and taking it before prompting spitting it out.
"Ugh, awful! Why do kids my age take part in this crap?"
Laurel wonders what Luz was up to until she watches the younger girl filling up the glass with alcohol. She hated the stuff herself so it was kind of amusing to see Luz giving it a go.
"Kids like to be rebellious. They wanna piss off their parents." That's what her sister Sara did as a kid. Laurel had to be the perfect one and she didn't always like it being that way.
"Maybe you should hold off from drinking for now, yeah?"
"I don't drink piss," was Luz's reply, letting the glass fall from her hand. It was amusing to entertain the idea of making the real Luz deal with a hangover, but the prospect of having to drink any more of this stuff to make it happen was revolting.
"But if you have no parents to anger here, what's the point? Headaches in the morning? Vomiting in strange places? None of those options sound good."

For Michael
I'm sure I could find some at the market.
[Her initial thought is 'monster dog' but maybe the animal just happens to be a big dog.]
Where is your place located?

"Can we knock over a few tables at least?"
Re: For Luz
On the list of many, many things Luz would never do, cursing was one of them. You pick and choose your battles.
"Yeah we can. I don't want things to get TOO quiet."
Quiet was boring, and the two of them were not quiet people.

"Oops. I'm so damn clumsy."

No more of that then. Now what do they do?
